Yung Vii – Misgiving EP: Sentiment-Driven Hip Hop

With the insurgence of SoundCloud rappers we’ve heard this year, it’s hard for a Hip Hop artist to stand out, yet with Yung Vii’s unadulteratedly charismatic style it wasn’t hard to appreciate the authenticity behind his offerings. His latest project ‘Misgivings EP’ follows the success from his debut single ‘Another Day’. Whilst the beats can fall a little flat in part and the production doesn’t quite do Young Vii the justice he deserves the weight of the sentiment will hit you like a tonne of bricks. The Misgiving EP tackles some sensitive topics as Yung Vii verses about his experiences with depression and anxiety with a commentary       on violence in America today. It should come as no surprise that the rise in violence along with the increasing number of people suffering from mental health issues go hand in hand. Yet, it took Yung Vii’s track ‘Another Day’ to teach me that.
