Up and coming Hip Hop Pop artist Yes Please dropped their recent single “New Friends” to address a prevalent issue which will no doubt resonate with many creatives.
From the first impression, it may seem like yet another self-aggrandized track, but once you come to appreciate the fact that they called out sycophants in a beautifully brutal fashion, prepare to be enamoured by the honesty weaved into the stylistic track.
New Friends highlights the fact that it isn’t the money or the fame which change artists, Yes Please flipped it around and pointed out the way people interact with musicians’ changes – yet the blame gets put on the artists themselves. Yes Please may contain some strong lyrics, but that doesn’t detract from the vibrant energy which is poured into the beats creating a visceral hit which despite the ingenuity remains incredibly accessible.
