Hip Hop has come a long way in the past few years, and it would seem there are even more avenues to take the genre in, especially if Walker Deuce’s latest single is anything to go by.
The Idaho, US based up and coming recording artist released his latest freestyle Rap mix ‘True’ in August, 2018 and it’s sweet Indie quintessence wasn’t lost on me. The mix of digital and acoustic instruments synergistically came together to create a beat packed with essence which flowed with an unrivalled amount of ambience. The lyrics are as ingenious as they are gritty, versed through soft New Wave Trap style vocals. Yet, even though Walker Deuce showed his more playful side with the lyrics, True still commanded the same amount of respect as you’d give the more aggressive Hip Hop artists. There aren’t many Rappers that can boast such a perfect balance of attitude and innocence but Walker Deuce has it down to a fine art. Paired with the production skills of JF Beats there really is no faulting the single.
