Every once in a while, you stumble across a track that you just know is going to become part of the soundtrack to your life. This Baltimore based band won me over from the first bar with their anthemic hit Jewel which has come off their debut album …Or The Devil Will Get You.
Jewel is a dynamic hit, which the band created with their own unique sensibility and their eclectic mix of influences which creates such an ethereal bouncing mix which can be loosely defined as Alternative Garage Punk Rock. Their swampish sound takes inspiration from the likes of Social Distortion, Nirvana, The Stray Cats, Pixies and Joy Division to create their sound.
You can hear the grunge styling embedded within the guitar riffs, yet the beat is undoubtedly Alt Rock, the vocals, are just something else. Raucous and rattling, yet rhythmically sweet and sonorous which is indictive for their Post Punk sensibility. Their effortless melodies wash over the track for a fully immersive monstrous hit.
