“One Year Difference” is the latest track from the Electronica, Rock and Dance instrumental artist The Ultra Lancers. Their cutting instrumental soundscapes may only be short, but if you’re looking for a caustic hit of high-octane guitar progressions, you’re most certainly in the right place.
Each of the tracks created by the Ultra Lancers carry a dark, ominous, and sometimes quite an alien tonality. But with One Year Difference you’re treated to a textured single which uses crunchy guitar progressions against soaring riffs and drum pads. I’ll be honest, the pitch was far too high to make listening to the single at any reasonable volume possible. Whilst I could appreciate the droning riffs, the cutting guitars were just a little too sharp. The grungy 10-second outro was also a little out of place and didn’t fit in well with the rest of the single. Whilst it’s clear that the Ultra Lancers has the talent and vision as an artist, I’d love to hear a longer more progressive soundscape which you can really immerse yourself in.
