The Strawberry Moons have paired a Folk lyrical style with a captivating arrangement of Indie Psych Pop with their latest single “Nicole’s Song”. The sentiment behind the single may be one of the most heart-wrenching I’ve ever heard. Nicole’s Song was written to serve as a memorial to anyone who has ever lost a loved one and to anyone still grieving over their personal pasts.
The sobering single does much more than sensitively allude to the nature of depression, it delves deep into the process of beauty strength and peace being distorted by unshakable sorrow; a by-product of dwelling in the possibilities which lay in our past. It’s an incredibly accurate depiction of the isolation of anhedonia, and one which won’t fail to resonate with anyone who has experienced it or has known someone that has.
