The Skeleton Krew is blessing us with their brand new indie/blues song called ‘Shine’.
The harmonica sounds great, the acoustic guitar section serves the song greatly and the short electric guitar solo after the second chorus makes the song whole; but what really elevates the track from being just ok to being great, is the main guitar riff. It’s colorful, it’s joyful it’s the key ingredient that allows this song to reach its final elegance.
If I was to throw my only stingy nitpick, I would go ahead and say that the song is missing a more exciting chorus. However, it seems that the Jackson, TN-based duo has delivered one of the most enthralling guitar riffs that I’ve heard this month. I didn’t see that coming and it is the brightest element one could extract from this song.
Overall while there’s a tiny southern rock flavor throughout the song, I would definitely recommend this to a Black Keys fan.
