The Freedom Ledges released their latest transfixingly dark Blues Rock single “Heavy” on August 16th, and I can quite honestly say I’ve never heard anything like the Jazz Fusion Rock soundscape mixed with Catt’s unflinchingly angsty vocals.
There really is no overstating the commanding dominance of the vocals in this track, they may be a little heavier than you’re used to from groove-led Blues, but they’re also strikingly empowering, passion-fuelled, and unflinchingly raw.
In Heavy, you’ll hear angular guitar progressions cutting across the warm dulcet pools of Funk laid down by the bass as the drums feed you perpetual palpable filthy rhythm. Bringing brass into the instrumental arrangement saw Heavy become a work of high-octane alchemy.
Something also tells me that seeing The Freedom Ledges live would be an unforgettable experience – The LA-based artist is definitely one to watch.
