Yugi waxes lyrical on existentialism with ‘NPMNG’.

Yugi

Up and coming hip hop artist, Yugi, is set to drop his wisdom-bomb of an EP, UNRAVEL; he’s given us a glimpse of what is to come by giving us a sneak peek of the lead track, NPMNG’.

The mellow trip-hop beats in the prelude give way to snappy 808s under layers of soulful old school hip hop influence; as the canter of the rap bars picks up, all of your attention will fall to NPMNG’s soulful wordplay.

‘Life isn’t hitting the same’ may be the most relatable lyric written this year. It succinctly encompasses the hollow feeling when you only find monotony instead of serotonin when indulging in the things that used to make you happy. Despite the waxing lyrical on existentialism, NPMNG is a hazy high-vibe hit that deserves a spot on your vibe out playlists.

NPMNG will be released on July 30th along with the rest of Yugi’s EP, UNRAVEL.

Delta Fish pushed the boundaries of hip hop even further with his latest single, ‘Dumb and Numb’.

Nashville-based hip hop artist Delta Fish keeps on proving that he’s got the hunger to ravage his way to the top with each new release; the refreshing grooves in his latest single, Dumb and Numb, is the perfect example of his pioneering appetite.

That ‘dumb and numb’ feeling you get when your MH issues start to peak is something that people scarcely talk about, let alone put in their rap bars. Delta Fish managed to create a multi-faceted release that offers all of the usual showy bravadoes along with the most candid lyrics you’re likely to hear this year in the chorus.

The 80s-style synth lines around the steady rattle of the 808s and melodic loops create a magnetic platform for Delta Fish’s bars that flirt with elements of pop and RnB.

The official music video for Dumb and Numb dropped on July 9th; you can check it out for yourselves via YouTube.

TheeOnlyMilo has made a seductive debut with ‘Gushy Gushy’, featuring Zaria.

Singer-songwriter and alchemist of soul TheeOnlyMilo has released his debut single, Gushy Gushy, featuring Zaria. In terms of salaciousness, it is practically on the same level as WAP, but there is no denying the underlying playful and sentimental feel to the single that flirts with elements of pop, soul, trap and hip hop.

If you can imagine what it would sound like if Andre 3000 turned his sex drive up to 11, you can get an idea of how endearing Gushy Gushy is despite the explicitness. The hazy stoner vibes and elements of soul can be found in the chemistry weaved between Zaria and TheeOnlyMilo’s vocals and the dreamy beats.

Swirling with vivid raps that shows his growing intent to reach those dizzy heights that he ultimately desires, Poppa King Oats knows he has his hands full to keep her happy but relishes the challenge on ‘Fasho‘.

Carlos Carela aka Poppa King Oats is an indie trap artist and massive cereal fan. He makes that sing-with-the-moment type of music experience, that has you opening up his book and reading the story with intrigue.

Spreading My Wings: Adubs is ready for the next three-point shot on ‘Down Bad’

As he quickly opens his ravenous wallet up and hopes for better days, Adubs knows he can do better and is on a mission to change his fortunes away from the distracting parties on his new trap-filled track called ‘Down Bad’.

Addison McCall aka Adubs, is a hooper and rapper from the USA. He was born in Morganton, North Carolina, and makes that new school fire sound that is full of rip-roaring raw bars from the street.

You feel his ultimate determination and he tells us the story about not wanting to struggle anymore. His mind is away from the games now and he only wants to rack up that paper, so that he can eat well and never be down in the dumps like before.

This is the story about seeing your goals in your vision and actually trying to achieve them, not just talking like a parrot and staying inside the same cage forever. He is manifesting his goals into reality, whilst using his talents on the court to only fuel his desires into a bonfire so big, he will be warm for years.

‘Down Bad’ from the USA-based trap artist Adubs, is a motivation-stacked track that shows he is ready for the next step in his music career, as he jumps high and smartly slides his mind into the hoop like a classic move to win the Championship game in the last second. He raps with so much passion and shows much improvement from his previous releases. That is what life is all about anyway. Ignoring the hype, haters and those inner demons. To truly succeed you need to avoid those late-night temptations which take you down an undesirable path, and has you fouled out forever.

Jazlyn Gold delivers an up-vibe attack on capitalism with ‘Rat Race’.

If fiery hip hop gets you through the 9-5, make Jazlyn Gold’s latest single, Rat Race, a playlist staple and gain the inspiration to escape. If any hustler hip hop track is going to shake you from your complacency, it is this up-vibe energetic attack on capitalism.

At just over 2-minutes long, it’s a short and sweet jazzy trap hit, but 2 minutes is all that was needed to implant a life-affirming seed of motivation to level up. Gold’s playfully dominant rap style is reflected in the lush reverb-heavy notes that add plenty of texture to the track that the 808s construct.

Rat Race is now available to stream via Spotify.

Jonny Darko has released his highly-anticipated debut album, Symbolica

After releasing his debut album aged 15, Jonny Darko entered the industry as a child prodigy. After a 4-year wait, his sophomore album, Symbolica, proves just how much he’s honed in on his sound that paradoxically resonates as soulfully sweet and mesmerisingly dark.

If you’re not previously acquainted with Darko’s lush synth melodies that add ambience to the energy the percussion brings, the title single is the perfect introduction to Darko’s merging of lo-fi trap with bedroom pop and alt-hip hop.

The Minneapolis-based artist and producer has a unique way of alluding to darkness within his music; nothing feels forced or prosaic. Instead, what you’ll find when you hit play is a truly genuine expression of multifaceted emotion told through meta poetic lyricism. His sound is constantly stunning. If he’s not already on your radar, make some room.

Kaiwin has released his latest genre-evading hit, ‘Bitter Taste’, ft. Jay Dior

For his latest release, ‘Bitter Taste’, Dallas-born alt-pop artist Kaiwin collaborated with Jay Dior to create a dynamic hit that crushes genre constraints with pensive looped indie guitars, RnB vibes, fiery trap beats and cloud rap vocals.

Bitter Taste vents the frustration of the relationship pitfalls the average 20-somethings falls into time again; with the up-vibe melodies and the collaborative chemistry that breathes between Kaiwin and Jay Dior, it’s anything but a self-apathy fest.

Along with his mission to climb the charts, Kaiwin seeks to crush the stigma associated with the Asian population and to build an anti-racist community to create awareness and spark movements, if necessary. Given that the major pop acts are apathetic at best when it comes to voicing their opinions, it’s a refreshing change to see an artist as passionate about positive social progression as they are about establishing themselves in the industry.

The official video premiered on June 12th; you can check it out for yourselves via YouTube.

Simulated Youth – Digital Memories, featuring Rielle & Camoragi; a trap anthem for the cyber age.

https://youtu.be/IBQXC29Q86Q

US alt-electronica artist Simulated Youth is set to release his two-track release, Digital Memories, featuring vocals from Rielle & Camorag. Thankfully, he has stayed true to his signature cyberpunk EDM style that we have come to adore while creating a trap anthem for the cyber age with the title track.

The canter in the rap bars is just as dizzying as the melodic command in the reverb swathed synths in the bass-riding single that is just as conceptual as the preceding releases from Simulated Youth. This time, he tells a two-sided story of breaking up in the modern age where it is impossible to disconnect from the people we have grown apart from with the digital tethers that keep us connected. Digital Memories is for everyone that has ever scorned Facebook memories for reminding us of our exes. Especially if those exes belong in a private hall of shame.

With only a hint of hyperbole, experiencing the danceable drop for the first time may have been the highlight of my 2021. Simulated Youth is easily one of our favourite discoveries this year. His devilishly meta production style is enough to make a sapiosexual weak at the knees.

You can check out Digital Memories from June 25th here.

Still Lit: Sacramento rapper GTD Kari makes his long-awaited return with ‘GTD Freestyle’

After last being featured on the top notch ‘Like Mike‘, the fast-rising GTD Kari is back after eight months away with the fast-paced new single that shows us his renewed focus on ‘GTD Freestyle‘.

Kevin Jerome Jumaane Easter Jr aka GTD Kari, is a highly motivated Sacramento, California-based trap artist. He has recently signed to the late Lil Yase’s Highway420 Productions label and his career is definitely on the rise.

You feel his slick bars that slide smoothly through your happy speakers, as he easily impresses the hungry onlookers who are looking for someone to believe in, as his smokey-cool style drifts through and lights up the papers to our mind. He has a smoothly-rolled flow that certainly delivers the post we want, as he lets it be known that he is only interested in the paper and making that tasty dough.

GTD Freestyle‘ from the soon-to-be-massive underground Sacramento, California-based rapper GTD Kari, is a rampaging effort that is clear and concise, his story about those unwise fake rappers that spit false stories is so relevant and real. This welcome mindset shows you that the street corner is turning back to fans wanting that authentic artist, back into their lives and for the plastic ones to be thrown into the trash for good.

Eight months seems a lifetime away in this new age fickle rap game, when before old school emcees used to hide away – recording, perfecting and writing their new music- for up to five years or more. His confident flow and street-filled vigor shows us that he does indeed rap about things he does which makes him well-respected where it counts. With true hip-hop heads.

Hear this audio on YouTube and see what he does next on his IG music page.
