DC Millionz regrets the ‘XO’s in his seminal trap track

Up and coming hip hop artist, DC Millionz, proved that he’s seamlessly in line with the contemporary trap trends with the release of his debut EP, Dc’s World, which follows on from his 2021 debut single, be safe.

The standout single from his EP, XO, is the perfect introduction to his raw lyricism, enigmatic personality and angst-stripping melodies. It is easily one of the most realistic love songs to hit the airwaves in 2021 for the way it encompasses ghosting and the regret that hits us after connecting with the wrong people only to find ourselves even more alone.

The philosophical proposition that the romantics ruined everything by implanting unattainable ideals rings especially true in XO. It proves that not all scepticism is cynicism; sometimes, it is just common sense to take a dim view of what romance puts in front of us.

XO is now available to stream on Spotify.

As he bravely climbs out of his home hell to make that much-anticipated bread so he can feed the team, Mak 9 takes us into his shell-filled world with the clip-packed new sturdy single ‘Worst Of The Worst‘.

Mak 9 is an underground East St. Louis, Illinois-based indie trap artist. He is a rampaging artist who tells us the stories straight up, through his lens of life which has seen many things he would rather forget.

Sun-Soaked Trap Pop: Captiøn – Malcølm In the Middle feat. Christian Awong

Captiøn

There are two kinds of experimental artists, the ones who strive to create anything as long as it is new, and the ones that give their tracks the same IQ as Einstein, the up and coming alt-pop artist Captiøn is definitively in the latter camp.

His latest single, created in collaboration with Christian Awong, is as alternative as it is emotional; the vocal hooks in Malcølm in the Middle pull you deeper into the trippy, sun-bleached melodicism. Summer may be coming to a close, but if there is any tropic trap pop track to keep you warm through the winter, it is this sweet and authentic earworm.

Montana Stax brings hazy summer trap vibes in ‘Celine’.

Montana Stax

The latest track, Celine, from the East Coast hip hop artist Montana Stax is already well on its way to going viral; in the week after its release, it racked up 90k streams on SoundCloud alone.

Any fans of RZA, Method Man and Ghostface Killah will find that vibing with Montana Stax’ wildly expressive vocals is all too easy, while the hazy, summery trap instrumentals bring a touch of serenity to the amourously electric track which is just one of the singles on Stax’ new project, How I Spent My Vacation 2.

You can check out Celine for yourselves here.

Jay Staxx goes interstellar with his latest hit, Cosmic

Jay Staxx’ domineeringly dark trap sound has been garnering plenty of hype since he made his debut with his new moniker in 2021. His recently released seminal single, Cosmic, is a trippy ethereal hit that serves as the perfect introduction to his playful and gritty lyrics, his deadpan candour, and his atmospheric beats.

Alongside working on his music, Staxx is also a co-founder at Loyalty over Royalty Records in San Diego. After the passing of his mother, Tameka Russell, in 2019, he returned to the music scene with even more determination to make an impression on the airwaves. Considering that he is now averaging over 67k monthly listeners on Spotify alone, it is safe to say his hunger for greatness is being sated. We couldn’t think of anyone more deserving.

Cosmic is now available to stream on Spotify.

BQpid throws away disingenuous pretence in his latest emo trap track, ‘Ceilings’

If there’s one thing that sets Ohio-residing artist BQpid’s sound apart from the rest, it is the depth of his lyrics that throw away any sense of disingenuous pretence. In his latest self-produced single, Ceilings, the atmospherically sallow indie trap melodies carry reminiscence to the likes of Post Malone and Mac Miller but with the dark undertone to Ceilings, he well and truly put himself in a league of his own.

For maximum evocative impact, the 18-year-old artist and producer worked elements of pop and RnB into the vocals in the emo-rap track that brings a brand new level of meaning to the word ‘candid’.

Ceilings is now available to stream on Spotify.

Delmarvae Naupranae weaves kaleidoscopic colour in his urban avant-garde single, Holographic.

‘Holographic’ is the sophomore release from breaking alt trap artist Delmarvae Naupranae; his trippy evocative productions have garnered plenty of hype since his debut with ‘Blue Roses’ earlier this year.

At just 1:33-minutes long, it’s a short and sweet kaleidoscopic ride through snappy 808s and reverb-drenched beats that Delmarvae Naupranae’s despondently true to voice vocals fuse into. Holographic isn’t a track that you vibe out to; it is one that you vibe into.

With his urbanely avant-garde style, Delmarvae Naupranae is notably one to watch.

Holographic is now available to stream on Spotify.

TRAP FREEDOM – Menace 2 Society: dark tones & introspective gold

The trailblazing US rapper, singer, producer and artist TRAP FREEDOM has unleashed his darkest trap track to date, Menace 2 Society. The scathing track finds a conceptual way to broach societal anger and challenge perceptions. Despite the menacing tone, it is a goldmine of introspection that all of society would benefit from heading.

If there is any silver lining to late-stage capitalism, it is singles such as this that unify us despite the corrupt socio-political system pitting us against each other. N.W.A. would be proud.

Menace 2 Society is now available to stream on Spotify.

Money Moves: Motivated NYC rapper Mazzarati cashes out each day as he bags the treasure on ‘222’

With a self-assured tone and lots of flashy chains to have him looking so fresh and minted, Mazzarati returns to our attention with the hard-hitting new bank account adding single called ‘222‘.

Mazzarati is an underground indie trap rapper and massive sports fan from New York City. He makes that quick-fire music vibe that shreds through the speakers, and lets you know that he is for real in this fickle game of dice.

This is his take-notice-of-my-skills moment as he is the underdog who is still becoming known – as he raps with smoothly-lit skills – and aces in the lyrics department with a flow that should you have you taking notice. He is all about that cash and doesn’t want any other distractions, as he is all on the zone which has him thinking about those big mansion dreams.

222‘ from the confident New York-based indie trap rapper Mazzarati, is a huge statement of intent from an artist on a mission to get that respect, that he knows he deserves and feels like has been missing. With an assertive style that busts through the doors to show his skills to all – this is a young artist with bags of potential who feels like he is the GOAT already – who hasn’t been crowned yet.

Get high with P.F’s electrifying trap track Opium

Up and coming hip hop artist P.F’s latest 3-track release, ULTRA OMEGA RUBY ZERO POINT FIVE, is as avant-garde as hip hop gets. The lead track, Opium, kicks off with bruising lashings of bass reverberating around scuzzy and harsh instrumentals, which merge trap, shoegaze and chiptune.

The use of sonic walls of noise to achieve the same level of disquietedness that is in the tormented lyrics was nothing short of genius on P.F’s side. He has all the potential to go viral with his electrifying releases that are visceral enough to act as a sign of the times. If this is the future of hip hop, we are here for it.

Check out Opium and the rest of P.F’s tracks via SoundCloud.
