Embrace your insanity with House of Weirdos’ timely Alt Rock hit ‘Climbing up the Walls’

On Christmas Eve, the adept alchemists of Alt Rock, House of Weirdos, delivered the ultimate antidote to the claustrophobic restlessness with their Psychedelically-layered Garage Rock track ‘Climbing Up the Walls’.

If you could imagine what Queens of the Stone Age would sound like if they incorporated more absurdity, chaos and psychotropic synths into their sound, you might be able to get an idea of what is on offer. Yet, Climbing up the Walls could easily enamour fans of everyone from the Misfits to The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster.

Climbing up the Walls is façade-less, it’s relentlessly ingenious, it’s a visceral invitation to shake off pretence and relinquish shame for the fact that 2020 did a number on your mental health.

The playfully despondent track was made even sweeter with the pairing of the music video which will fill you with gratitude for House of Weirdos, just one of the irreplaceable artists who looked into the stir-crazed frustration and found inspiration so we could be hit with that invaluable feeling of connection and resonance.

Ruby Drive put a Horror Punk Twist on Pop Punk with “Fruit Punch and Arsenic”

US Alt Pop-Punk trailblazers Ruby Drive dropped their latest scathingly rhythmic single “Fruit Punch and Arsenic” on May 6th. If you missed it, you missed out on a timely record which offers scuzz, angst and importantly an outlet for the anger we’ve been feeling throughout 2020.

Any fans of the Misfits are definitely going to want to hear their Horror Punk twist on Pop-Punk which can be found in the discordantly ominous instrumental tone and lyrics.

Lyrically, Fruit Punch and Arsenic is somewhere in between the tale of Sid and Nancy and the far more romantic saga between Romeo and Juliette. A striking narrative of two lost souls attempting to shield each other from inescapable misery, ending with an arsenic cocktail. Who said romance was dead?

Crisis King – Tonight – If You Thought That Extreme Music Could Not Be Eclectic, Think Again!

Crisis King is an artist with a fondness for hard-hitting metal, post-hardcore and industrial tones. His recent studio work, Tonight, is an EP that features 6 original songs. The artist’s music explores genres as diverse as hardcore, industrial, new-metal and more, going for an eclectic, yet direct sound. Opening number, “Die Easy”, is an extremely powerful wall of sound that feels like a stampede of vikings, crushing and burning everything in their path. The song has powerful drums and loud guitar riffs that are down-tuned and aggressive, perfectly matching the vocals.

The dark lyrical themes on the songs of the EP are also a great match with the album’s production aesthetics, but there is also room for melodies here and there.

“The Tides” highlights the group’s most melodic side, yet it still features hard-hitting drums, loud guitar walls and serendipitous changes. Throughout the span of these 6 tracks, Crisis King really stand out for the diverse approach they are able to bring to the table, exploring different sides of their musicianship and offering up an EP that feels eclectic, yet extremely direct, just as you would expect from a band such as Crisis King!
