Spielbone has released their neo-classic electronica aid to rumination ‘Les mérites du doute’

German-Ivorian composer, Spielbone, made their debut in 2018 with their minimalist neo-classic twist on ambient electronica, in 2020, he released his pacifyingly immersive album ‘Infinitesimal’ any fans of Nils Frahm or similar contemporaries are going to want to pay attention.

In a time when sanctity of any form is scarce, meditative soundscapes such as Les mérites du doute are worth their weight in aural gold. As Chamber strings draw across the keys, the ruminative soundscape pulls you in deeper into the sanguine essence. Spielbone’s ability to set synapses alight and make heartstrings feel taut will undoubtedly see him going far in 2021 and beyond.

Zachary James & Rene Orth – Jabberwocky: A Harsh Electronica Sci-Fi Serenade

Electronica artists generally fall into two categories, the assimilators, and those who throw their authentic expression into their projects to create mind-blowing feats of indulgent insanity, ‘Jabberwocky’ from Zachary James’ 2020 album ‘Call Out’, definitely falls into the latter camp.

‘Jabberwocky’ is a theatrically enticing Sci-Fi laden hit which Zachary James created in collaboration with Rene Orth and Lewis Carroll. The progressive track runs through teasing melodic increments before crashing into tremulously bass-drenched Industrial electronica. It doesn’t matter which extreme the tempo is sitting at; you’ll be transfixed from start to finish in the mix which gives Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds a run for its money.

The multitalented artist’s experience as a Broadway actor discernibly fed into the monumental 7-minute visual single which becomes so much more than a soundscape as you embrace the chaos, imagination and cinematic style.

Find the catharsis in Ric Santos quiescently evocative ambient electronica track ‘Drift’

NYC Electronic artist and producer, Ric Santos, set his own bar exceptionally high with ‘In the Lead Works with the Beast’ which we had the pleasure of reviewing last year, but once again, he’s blown us away with his profound ability to make electronic arrangements bleed pure emotion.

His latest cinematic score, ‘Drift’ is just one of the standout tracks to feature on their forthcoming EP which is due for release in January 2021. After hearing the quiescently evocative alchemy in Drift, it is safe to say that we’re already eager to hear the rest.

The experimentally ambient instrumental mix would be perfectly placed in an OST to aurally narrate fragility experienced in an aftermath. Whether that be an epic battle or an intense interpersonal upheaval. It’s the calm after the storm, a space to breathe, a time to dare to be optimistic, a soundscape to simply exist within; and a stunning one at that.

Art_ILL and 1ove ride in with cruisin’ soundtrack ”Azaleas Pollen”

Taken off the new album ”Cherry Leaves”, this super track starts off with such grace and beauty. This is the new release from Art_ILL ft 1ove. ”Azaleas Pollen” is the name and this is a quality Hip Hop release.

Art_ILL is an underground rapper from Wheaton in Maryland. He utilizes dark eerie sounding beats reminiscent of the feel you would get from Noir movie scores, combined with a lyrical prowess and storytelling ability that creates the style he calls: Noir Rap.

I love the succulent female vocals on this track as they put me in a happy mood. Mixed with Art’s enthusiastic wordplay, this makes the release a fine addition in 2020.  ”Azaleas Pollen” has a jazzy hip hop feel to it with some new school beats. Art_ILL and 1ove ride in style here and this is a tasty track that gives us what we need. This is a perfect song for riding around with your homies on a hot summers day with the roof down low.

”hello, i’ve got anxiety” is a real story with the stunning London talent Ettie

Ettie is a new singer-songwriter from London. She drinks a lot of wine and has a lot of feelings. ”hello, i’ve got anxiety” is the name of her latest track and the name says it all really. This a talented young lady who is struggling to break out of her own head at the moment and needs our support.

Her first single ”fast cars and airplanes” went on to get radio play on BBC Scotland and she has had a great deal of success so far.

”hello, i’ve got anxiety” is self-written and produced by Hoeningermix. Ettie, who is struggling with an anxiety disorder herself, wanted to write a song that provided a soundtrack to other peoples’ anxieties. The aim is to hopefully open up the dialogue around mental health. This is a topic that is often swept under the carpet and not talked about enough.

This is a wonderfully created track and we hope that Ettie can move past this and be happy inside. She deserves it.

Composer and Pianist JxPrezzo Has Released Their Tenderly Explorative 4-Track EP “Seven Years”

London-based composer and pianist JxPrezzo has crafted four delicately unique Neo-Classic soundscapes for their latest instrumental EP “Seven Years”.

After an intro track which is all too efficacious at pulling you into the release, you get to the title track which is the best example of how JxPrezzo’s tender melodies can tell a story. From tentative, explorative notes which ring with optimism to stabbing atmospheric dread, Seven Years is a deftly-orchestrated evocative rollercoaster.

As you listen to the light yet fluid textures in the soundscape, you can almost feel the tension in your body being replaced with the quiescently comforting tones. But if you’re as aurally sensitive as me, when the minor notes are hit, you won’t just hear them, you’ll feel them. My eyes may now sting a little, but that’s a small price to pay for experiencing such a gentle yet resounding release.

Bayan – Abnormality: Psychedelically Entrancing Avant-Garde Electronica

Breaking Electronica artist Bayan has recently released their debut album “True Conspiracy” containing the psychedelically entrancing single Abnormality which was used as the soundtrack for the Indie film Pop Life.

By infusing elements of Funk, Avant-Garde, and Psych Rock into the electronically mastered instrumental soundscape, Bayan offered a Lynchian level of ingenuity in Abnormality which any fans of Glenn Branca will definitely appreciate.

Your only complaint with Abnormality is that it doesn’t last longer. It dystopically delivers everything that it says on the tin. Debuts don’t often come as hypnotically absorbing as this. We’d strongly suggest making room for Bayan on your radars.

While we’re used to beguiling doses of experimentalism when we delve into Alternative artist 8udDha bl0od’s tracks their recently released soundscape was chill-inducing.

If you could imagine the soundtrack to a Horror flick set in a Tibetan monastery, you’ll get a good idea of how their latest intensely atmospheric release L3<3lV:iVWh0m7h383ll70ll5;7h3F!n.:.l CUR<38.:.ll.:.?;G0.:5g.:.m8l!ngWi7h7h3 g0dD5:H3lR.:.i53R unfolds.

The effects used in release L3<3lV:iVWh0m7h383ll70ll5;7h3F!n.:.l CUR<38.:.ll.:.?;G0.:5g.:.m8l!ngWi7h7h3 g0dD5:H3lR.:.i53R would enamour David Lynch himself. 8udDha bl0od’s deft mastery over the art of spatial effects was palpable. From the opulent chiming of bells to what can only be described as akin to the sound of rusted chains being dragged across the floor, you’ll hear it all in this indulgently disconcerting piece.

Colleen Orender – The Company of Older Men: Cinematically Captivating Pop

Even before I hit play on Colleen Orender’s recently release single “The Company of Older Men” I knew I was going to greet the track with adoration.

Not many Pop artists are unashamedly bold enough to tackle the not so glamorous subject of sugar daddies. But Colleen Orender managed to do it whilst simultaneously creating a cinematic track which wouldn’t be out of place in a Bond soundtrack.

Every single aspect of the production is phenomenal. It’s full of edge-of-your-seat tension, half-heartedly listening to The Company of Older Men is simply not an option. Colleen Orender’s vocals are up there with the most arrestive we’ve heard this year, and that’s very unlikely to change.

Artist Paul Myles Zambrano has dropped his latest single ‘Familia’ which was the end credits for the Original Motion Picture film Slipping into Darkness.

A piece based solidly on sound and the use that it has to create this story and to endure this powerful atmosphere surrounding it. Using a slight strum on the guitar, to this enticing opera like instrumentation that creeps up on you, giving it this suspenseful feeling as the tune gets louder and louder.

Becoming rather triumphant in many aspects, giving off this rather horror-like element of the panic leading up to the destruction through the rather mesmerizing use of all instruments. A perfectly chilling end credit, illuminating the background with many forms of intriguing instrumentation.

A very peculiar piece by Paul Myles Zambrono, one that sends shivers down your spine, using the talent to create it only with sound.
