Siobhan Cotchin drops a remarkably forthright adulting reminder to us all on ‘Growing Pains’

Knowing that she needs to progress in her life while currently feeling like she is stuck like there is glue on her shoes, Siobhan Cotchin is at her honest best as she navigates this voyage that has no training manual with her new single, ‘Growing Pains‘.

Siobhan Cotchin is a 21-year-old Perth, Western Australia-based indie singer-songwriter who performs with the kid of vocal dreaminess that will spark your imagination alive.

“‘Growing Pains’ is a super personal song about the realities of growing up. It’s about wanting to avoid all responsibilities of adulthood and the anxieties I think we’ve all faced at some point about who we are and where we fit in the world. It’s kind of an ode to my anxiety and the way it makes me act by ‘ghosting my friends’ and just generally avoiding people. I hope with ‘Growing Pains’, people can find solace and comfort in the lyrics and know it’s completely okay to be scared of the future and not know who you are. It’s all part of being human!” ~ Siobhan Cotchin

Mirroring the feelings of so many of us who have felt the wrath of the world bite through the walls of our precious hope, Siobhan Cotchin is rather outstanding here with a marvellous creation that will have you thinker deeper about current predicaments that are affecting us all right now.

Growing Pains‘ from Perth, Western Australia-based indie singer-songwriter Siobhan Cotchin is such a superbly introspective song from a young woman who is taking time out to work out who she really is. Her vocals are pleasing on the earlobes and her lyrics are sharp and bring you deep inside her life, as she tells us exactly what is going on.

With a tremendously understandable outlook from someone who feels deeper than most – this is a reflective release of the highest standard – from a gifted artist who knows what she needs to do next after this time to build up her armour for the battles ahead.

The West Australian Alt-Country Singer-Songwriter, Siobhan Cotchin, Takes us to Tucson in Her Latest Ethereally Luminous Release

After garnering over 100k streams on Spotify with her 2020 single Do You Know What I Mean? Siobhan Cotchin has returned to the airwaves with her ethereally bluesy Americana single, Tucson. It will undoubtedly be a hit with fans of Big Thief, Angel Olsen and Bonny Light Horsemen.

The West Australian alt-country/rock singer-songwriter’s career has already taken off in Australia. Based on the luminous accordance of Tucson, paired with Cotchin’s determination to weave immersive introspective narratives, she has everything it takes to become an international country-rock icon. In a similar style to Kurt Vile, the award-winning artist caresses the roots of Americana while securing its place in the 21st-century. Her minimalist angular melodies fall into the cavernous production just as succinctly as the lyrics that allude to the subjective desolateness of Tucson.

Tuscon is now available to stream and purchase on all major platforms via this link.

Take an introspective trip with Siobhan Cotchin’s latest single, Highway Song.

Comparisons to the likes of Pheobe Bridgers, Angel Olsen and Anais Mitchell are easy to make; what is harder to convey through words alone is the sucker-punched feeling that Siobhan Cotchin’s latest single, Highway Song, will leave you with.

Technically, Highway Song *is* a driving song, not in any traditional sense, but one that captures the loneliness of transitions and times when your life is defined by endings. It is so much more than a senseless melancholy-fest; the choral vocals that sit behind Cotchin’s haunting lyrics and accordant minimalistic folk progressions become the aural light at the end of the highway tunnel.

The West Australian alt-country singer-songwriter is well on the way to the phenomenon she deserves to become. She’s already established herself as one of Australia’s most luminary artists. So far, she has received a nomination for WAM Song of the Year and a spot in triple j Unearthed Top 10 best discoveries of 2020. It is unlikely that her accolades will end there.

Highway Song released on June 2nd; you can hear it for yourselves by heading over to apple music.

Siobhan Cotchin offers an Alt-Country Rock shoulder to cry on with “The Fair-Weather Friend Blues”

The Fair-Weather Friend Blues” is the conceptually subversive Alt-Country Rock single from one of the most promising West Australian artists around right now, Siobhan Cotchin.

Instead of adding yet another breakup track to the airwaves, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter offered brave introspection through Fair-Weather Friend Blues which put a brand-new twist on the heartbreak narrative.

There’s always a stigma around the admission that you’re lonely and don’t have a friendly shoulder to cry on, which is probably why you won’t hear many Country Rock tracks about fake friends on the radio. But the artist used the power of her powerful introspection to offer compassion to anyone in the same position. After hitting play, I found an infinite amount of respect for her resiliently bold style and even more excitement over her potential.

With plenty of soul-paralysing moments offered by the extremely masterful instrumentals, it is easy to see why she’s rising up in the charts.

Alt Country Rock artist Siobhan Cotchin has released her nostalgically-inspired, stylistically-crafted Just the Way It Is

Once you get West Australian singer-songwriter Siobhan Cotchin on your radar, you’ll hit play on her tracks for the very same reasons you keep spinning iconic Alt Folk and Rock records.

Siobhan Cotchin may get her inspiration from the likes of Bob Dylan, but her ingenuity ensured that plenty of contemporary resonant appeal was instilled in her latest single Just the Way It Is.

With distorted crunching guitars behind her hauntingly visceral hard-hitting vocals, there’s a fresh intensity to the soundscape. It’s unpredictable, it’s evocatively seductive, and more importantly, it offers deeply connectable lyrics which will compel you to give the track repeat attention. Any fans of Angel Olsen definitely won’t hang around making Siobhan Cotchin a firm fixture to their playlists.
