King in The Belly – Behind: Filthy Rock & Roll

King in The Belly is an Aussie/Brazilian rock band like no other, their sonorously sweet sound is ablaze with contemporary pounding vision. Their style makes Buck Cherry sound squeaky clean. The band’s sound lusciously archaic with a strong Punk Rock undertone.

The vocalist’s natural lyrical ability goes lulls you into a false state of serenity before the track kicks in with a sneaky instrumental soaked verse. It starts out sounding like any other Shoegaze Indie Track.  I was set for 4 minutes of melancholy, nothing could prepare me for the gripping ensemble of chemistry King in The Belly cooked up; the pounding drum rolls, the heavy flow of the bass, and the effortless command of the guitar combined with some 90’s grunge angsty lyrics.

Even before the instrumental riff exploded I’d already added this band to my Alternative Rock playlist. Their debut album is due out early next year, I already know that’s not a sound that I want to miss out on.

Unwind with Vautier’s latest track ‘Maybe Tomorrow’

Every once in a while, a visionary appears amongst us, despite the decades of music production, it’s refreshing to know that not quite everything has been done before. Vautier has appeared to us as the saviour from the monotony of tired old beats.

New Zealand based artist Vautier orchestrates an interesting mix of R&B, Electronica and Soul that is immersive, hypnotic, lucidly tranquil. The arrangement of the song is riddled with complexities that are an absolute pleasure to get lost in. Ambience flows through the soft arrangements that follow a crawlingly melodic pace. The guitar solos that seem to stretch endlessly are so poignantly raw they almost feel out of place within the entire production. There’s no amplification, just a nostalgic Shoegaze sound.

The production on the vocals was unique over the lounge music infused electronica, they appear over the music as whispers that don’t demand to be heard, which gives it a certain quintessence that most electronica acts could only dream of.

There is so much potential for this track, despite all of its influences you can’t really pin it under any traditional genre. Vautier is a truly conceptual artist who is constantly gracing us with his sound due to the success of his earlier glitchy, yet lucid music.

A&R Factory Present: MOON

MOON’s latest single, “We’re So Close,” alters between twinkling synths and epic backbeats all linked by frontwoman Chelsea Davis’s captivating voice. The result is an arresting anthem of edgy alt-pop.

“Our goal with ‘We’re So Close’ was to convey a message of ‘hope for peace,’” says Davis. “We want to express a broad and positive essence to be applied to all people and situations. If we’re going to get along at all, it’s all about getting closer.”

MOON is a Los Angeles-based alt-rock act founded by Chelsea Davis (vocals/drums) and Dan Silver (guitar/synth). Together, they weave elements of shoegaze, synth-pop, and desert rock via dreamy guitars, picturesque synth work, and a solid rock backbone. Their previous single, “I Got A Fever,” charted on iTunes’ Hot Tracks as well as KROQ’s Locals Only with Kat Corbett and appeared on USA Network’s hit TV show Colony.

“We’re So Close” was recorded at Victory Road Studios and mixed by Mark Needham (Third Eye Blind, Walk The Moon, The Airborne Toxic Event) at Ballroom Studio.
