Singer Songwriter KISA has made a sedately moody Indie debut with the single “Hurting”

Up and coming Singer-Songwriter KISA has made an evocative debut with her sedately moody Indie Pop single “Hurting”.

If you could imagine the perfect balance between Amy Winehouse’s Neo-Soul style and the stylistic contemporary appeal from tracks such as Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish, you’ll get a good idea of what is in store if you hit play on Hurting.

The connectable resonant lyrics, the accessibility and warmth despite the melancholy and the gentle instrumental deftness of Hurting makes it a debut that you definitely won’t want to miss out on. If you can get to the outro after the downtempo soundscape has pulled in nuanced ethereally haunting guitar notes with dry eyes, your soul has probably seen better days

Alternative R&B artist Mulini hits sombre tones with new release MANIC

UK-based R&B songwriter Mulini has released his new track MANIC from his debut EP ‘Night Time’. 

It’s a strong, sombre performance with Mulini’s working-class-James-Blake-style vocals rising out of an airy synthy soundscape. His dark-sky, windy pop is well-written, and well produced, with MANIC showcasing a fair bit of potential from the alt-R&B artist on here. It has that right amount of moany-crooning throughout, and a strong choice for that listening indoors and staring out the window vibe. 

The standout is most notably his vibrato performance – it skillfully wavers through the first verse and coalesces into a chorus with an almost-unintended catchiness to it that helped give this track multiple listens. MANIC is well worth one of those listens for fans of this kind of sombre, melancholic sad-pop.

It Came to This – Shingles: Refreshingly Façade-Free Bedroom Pop Punk

Up and coming artist It Came to This claims their music is “exactly the kind of Pop-Punk the world needs at a time like this”, we wholeheartedly agree.

As soon as you hit play on their tracks you’re met with a flood of unashamedly human angst. There’s no pretence or façade, just honest, connectable sentiment paired with upbeat rhythms to sweeten the disillusionment.

Shingles is just one of the endearingly catchy singles to be released by the bedroom Pop Punk. It may be a Lo-Fi production, but with the sharpness of the melodic hooks and the tight synergy between the raucously disquiet instrumentals and the Emo Rock-inspired vocals stand as a testament to It Came to This’ talent.

I’m sure I won’t be the only one hoping for more cathartically quaint releases in the future from It Came to This.

Elin Bellander – Distant: An incredibly ambiguous yet meaningful pop hit

Pop mixed with elements of R&B is what the new single ‘’Distant’’ by Swedish artist Elin Bellander offers.

Throughout it’s up-beat, infectious and super catchy, it’s one of them that will be stuck in your head, but in a good way. Elin’s vocal range is insane, she has a voice that is so mesmerising to listen too, it’s unique and as the beat begins to pick up pace, the vocal range begins to hit the high notes spot on and it’s definitely impressive.

Pop music is known for being something that can boost your mood, letting the beat move you and having this connection with the lyrics. Distant gives it’s listeners that Pop feeling we all know and love. The lyrical approach reflects a past experience with a relationship, which is a  topic that many listeners would relate too and it screams girl power.

Every part from the instrumentals, the vocals and the overall sound is well thought out and it goes hand and hand with one another, it’s creative and one that needs to be listened too.

The up and coming artist has created a short track that shows huge potential for the future and we can’t wait to see what Elin Bellander is going to do next.
