Jones pushed the boundaries of RnB with his latest serenade, Rush

Jones

Jones, an artist who needs only one name to make an impact, went where no RnB artist had ventured before with his latest bold declaration of individuality, ‘Rush’. From the deep south’s heartlands to the pinnacle of musical innovation, Jones has come a long way from the early days of sparking his passion for soulful sonics.

Rush is a masterclass in balancing the old and the new. The track is imbued with echoes of 90s RnB, a nod to the classics that shaped Jones’ early love for music. Yet, the way he weaves these influences into his experimental, pulsating melodies to create an almost discordant backdrop which harmonises perfectly with the smooth, flowing cadence of his vocals is visionary. It’s this juxtaposition that makes Rush a standout track that will capture your consciousness for long after the final note has faded.

Jones’ voice is a revelation as it soulfully pays homage to his church choir days while inscribing sensuously soulful poetry that nods to his determination and passion. His ability to stay true to his roots while pushing the boundaries of RnB will see him go far in 2024 and beyond.

Rush will hit the airwaves on January 26; stream it on all major platforms via this link.

Nicolaas Walle And Friends show us what it means to be human in their latest release, Human Nature.

Scuzzy keys, theatrical crescendos and doom-laden vocals are just a few of the components in the latest release, ‘Human Nature’, by Ireland-based alternative artist Nicolaas Walle And Friends. The progressive two-track release will allow you to imagine what the War of the Worlds soundtrack would sound like if Depeche Mode and King Crimson lent their deft hands to the production.

Human Nature, Pt. 1 is a cosmonautical adventure through the avant-garde; after ominous male vocals and progressive instrumental alchemy that will be a hit with any fans of Rush or Genesis, female vocals bring a sense of fragility and mortality into the spacey mix that will set your imagination alight.

After making their debut in 2018, the self-produced multi-instrumentalist has enamoured plenty of the Emerald isle but discernibly, his sound boasts an international commercial potential that we can’t wait to see come into fruition in 2021 and beyond.

Prepare for your soul to ascend with Zach Robinson’s ardently eclectic single “Change”

With Zach Robinson’s aural inspirations ranging from Rush to The Police to Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Billy Joel, you’ll get a serious hit of soulful nostalgia when you hit play on their standout single “Change” on their 2020 EP “Evolve”.

It kicks off with smooth seductive popping grooves before the Alt Rock elements start to dominate the soundscape and replace the funky ska rhythms with ardent licks of Rock which add an overwhelming amount of intensity to the track.

Change is a stunning release. The energy. The urgency. The passion. The talent. Each aspect combines to leave you feeling like your own soul has transcended when you get to the outro of this inherently stylistic mix.

Happy Freuds – Break: It’s full of energy and major throwbacks

If you want something that’s going to throw you right back to the old school Classic Rock days then this is the one for you. Happy Freuds have this contagious energy, manic instrumentation and insane vocals, that real rock feel that throws you right back.

‘’Break’’ is a track that you can’t help but love, it’s energetic, chaotic and has so much personality that shines through, as a listener you can hear how much energy goes into the music and how well it comes out.

They have this talent that definitely shouldn’t go unnoticed, the guitar riffs are so precise and electrifying, the light taps on the drums and not to mention the killer vocals that just completely top everything off, it all combines so well together.

Happy Freuds have clearly shown the Rock world what they have to offer in this track, just by showing how good old school Classic Rock can really sound. A band with huge potential to make it massive and one we can’t wait to see do so.

Cole Lumpkin – Furious: The Soundtrack to Insanity

https://youtu.be/5ltH8_Oxue0

Feeling angsty? Cole Lumpkin’s new feverous track Furious offers a perfectly pacifying sound.

It’s impossible to exaggerate just how much passion the charismatic artist Cole Lumpkin has put behind this masterpiece of a track; from the intro you’re dragged along with the hook of sporadic chaos of the arrangements which have been orchestrated to perfection. Through the lyrics he captures his contempt so succinctly, it’s impossible not to get caught up in his enigmatic allure as he spits out his vocals with angelic resent.

Even after the 10th time of me listening to the track, I was transfixed on the dramatic uplifting composition of creativity. With influences such as Frank Zappa, Rush, Jethro Tull & Talking Heads, it’s no surprise that this sound is so painstakingly beautiful.

Furious is the latest track from the New York based experimental artist who offers contemporary lashings of Art Deco Pop, curtesy of his finely tuned percussion ensemble.

Head on over to YouTube to check out the official video, I can personally guarantee you won’t be disappointed in the sound that unravels with infinite melody.

On Ithenfal’s Wing – Key to Then: A Medieval Medley of Metal

You never know what you’re going to get from a Prog Rock band. On Ithenfal’s wing certainly delivered the unexpected with their latest track Key to Then which takes you through a journey of time and leaves you questioning the year.  The track is a 7-minute marathon curtesy of a nostalgically talented collective of artists from the US influenced by artists such as Opeth, Radiohead, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. They must be the first band in history to infuse all of those sounds together to create a cocktail of archaic madness.

It wouldn’t sound out of place on a Game of Thrones soundtrack even though the vocals did remind me of Robert Smith from The Cure, well, if Robert Smith did Pantomime. Typical of any Prog Rock band, there’s heavy emphasis on the instrumentals which flow with ease, yet I can’t quite help but think the track is disjointed by the slightly sub-par vocals which just don’t match the veracity of the sound that the band puts out.

The bands conceptual album Key to Then was brought out earlier this December, so jump on the hype and check out Key to Then via Soundcloud using the link below:

Crisis King – Tonight – If You Thought That Extreme Music Could Not Be Eclectic, Think Again!

Crisis King is an artist with a fondness for hard-hitting metal, post-hardcore and industrial tones. His recent studio work, Tonight, is an EP that features 6 original songs. The artist’s music explores genres as diverse as hardcore, industrial, new-metal and more, going for an eclectic, yet direct sound. Opening number, “Die Easy”, is an extremely powerful wall of sound that feels like a stampede of vikings, crushing and burning everything in their path. The song has powerful drums and loud guitar riffs that are down-tuned and aggressive, perfectly matching the vocals.

The dark lyrical themes on the songs of the EP are also a great match with the album’s production aesthetics, but there is also room for melodies here and there.

“The Tides” highlights the group’s most melodic side, yet it still features hard-hitting drums, loud guitar walls and serendipitous changes. Throughout the span of these 6 tracks, Crisis King really stand out for the diverse approach they are able to bring to the table, exploring different sides of their musicianship and offering up an EP that feels eclectic, yet extremely direct, just as you would expect from a band such as Crisis King!
