I’m sure DreamState weren’t referring to their own track when they titled it ‘Winner’, yet that is exactly what the experimentally fresh Hip Hop track ended up as. The prelude will lock you into the wonderment of just what kind of track will unfold after you’ve listened to the progression of the less than typical arrangements. Yet, once the first verse to Winner kicks in, you know that you’re safely in the grips of a smoothly composed R&B Trap track which fuses acoustic instruments and digital effect together seamlessly. Throughout the single DreamState constantly mixes up his vocal style to match the momentum of the track, whilst I’m not usually an overly big fan of R&B crooning, the slick approach to the style didn’t fail to win me over. Combined with the narrative, sweet lyrics to Winner, it’s impossible not to fall in love with DreamState for their pioneering urban approach to their sound.
