Whilst I usually don’t have any reservations when it comes to expressing my contempt for excessive effects on R&B vocals. There was something about Ray Quiet’s experimentally contemporary style with his stand out single “NO NAMES”. The seamless production on the track allowed his vocals to flow in perfect synergy to the melody of the R&B-infused Trap beat which had none of the usual harsh snare from the 808’s, just the soft tonality of smooth R&B.
As R&B Soul tracks go, NO NAMES is definitely up there as one of the most cathartic, whilst the lyrics grip you into the narrative of the single, the beat has you immersed within the lucid rhythm created by the Connecticut, US-based artist.
