Toronto Nu-Metal band Under Stolen Skies release solidarity single called ”Kill Corrupt”

This is a group that is fed up with all the nonsense around us in the world. They rage through the machine style and rock the speakers until they are smoking with anger. This is music that inspires and would make an awesome movie soundtrack. This is the follow up track to ”State Of I’‘ which was reviewed in April by Amelia Vandergast.

Canadian act Under Stolen Skies needed a way to tackle the frustrations towards the corrupt systems that regulates their society and feel that things are way to cruel and unjust right now. A brave stance indeed and one that must be applauded. They are fed up and taking a stand with such a powerful song.

Nu Metal punk rockers Under Stolen Skies sing and rap their way into our sights with a powerful political statement that fits 2020 like a tight glove. ”Kill Corrupt” urges the world to open up their eyes to not be complacent anymore and stop all the wrongs that are happening right now. We live in a crazy world and this smashing track is all about being unified. That is the only way to make this beautiful planet better again.

Always Manic – Falling into A Coma: Piercingly Evocative Anthemically-Charged Alt Rock

https://soundcloud.com/alwaysmanic/falling-into-a-coma

Any fans of Against Me! will undoubtedly want to check out the anthemically-charged standout single “Falling Into A Coma” from US Alt Rock artist Always Manic.

It has all the anthemic appeal as hits from bands such as the Foo Fighters, yet the striking levels of volatile dynamic emotion take Always Manic’s sound to the next level. Alt Rock tracks don’t often come as evocatively magnetic as Falling into A Coma.

The up and coming artist has proven with Falling into A Coma you can pour all the apathy and angst you like into a track, but if there’s enough euphoric energy and fuzzy guitar-driven electricity weaved into the mix, it can become an extremely effective feel-good hit.

The slight vibrato on the vocals in the first verse stung, but hearing the momentum build and the restraint falling away sweeps you up in the energy of the track until you feel as adrenalized as the track itself.

Study of Us has made their debut with the glitchy Pop Punk earworm “Written in the Headlines”

Glitchy Alt Rock meets Pop Punk in up and coming artist Study of Us’ debut single “Written in the Headlines”.

Written in the Headlines may pack a raucous punch and oozes vitriolic energy, but with the absorbingly emotive vocals, you’ll easily be drawn into the magnetic track which offers the connectable resonance which we need more now than ever.

With the lyrics, instead of the usual self-pitying platitudes, you’ll find revolutionary angst which gives Written in the Headlines an Anarcho-Punk feel while the instrumentals create a brand-new trajectory in the evolution of Punk.

Layabout – Party Man: Consumingly Alchemic Post-Punk-Laced Prog Rock

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-ZH209Q0o0

Up and coming Jamaican Alt Rock act Layabout created the ultimate teaser of a prelude in their latest single. “Party Man” is exactly how a progressive track should make you feel. It locks you into the constantly evolving rhythms leaving you with a sense of palpitating anticipation right up until you’re consumed by the crescendo you’ve been waiting for.

And Layabout definitely didn’t disappoint with Party Man which allowed Blues, Rock, and Post Punk to converge in the gorgeously immersive single.

As the sweet 80s Rock guitar notes introduce the Peter Hook-style bassline the cymbal heavy percussion follows suit and creates a rhythm as tight and dynamic as the chorus in Teenage Kicks by the Undertones. Yet, all reminiscences are incredibly fleeting in Party Man. You’ll be pulled from bouncy high vibe punk tones to glacially angular guitar work in the space of three and half minutes. Music doesn’t come much more alchemic than this.

You can check out the official video to Layabout’s single Party Man which premiered on March 1st for yourselves by heading over to YouTube.

Under Stolen Skies Have Made Their Debut with the Super-Charged Unifying Punk Rock Hit “State of I”

Under Stolen Skies

Punk angst and poetic poignancy sit hand in hand in up and coming Alt Rock artist Under Stolen Skies’ debut single “State of I”.

Any fans of Rage Against the Machine’s high-octane all-consuming energy will definitely appreciate the experimentally absorbing Nu Metal single. And yes, the single comes with the Morello-style improvised intricate guitar breakdowns which will make your synapses feel suitably rearranged.

Reminiscences aside, Under Stolen Skies’ sound could never have been born through mere assimilation. The urgency, the authenticity, and the sheer performative conviction well and truly put them in a league of their own.

The Canadian artist has been firmly affixed to our radar after hearing State of I, you’ll undoubtedly follow suit once you get a taste of just how fresh their sound is.

Punk Rock Newcomers Lost Planet Airmen Have Made Their Debut with “The Brightside”

As Canadian Indie Punk Rock artist Lost Planet Airmen were preparing to release their debut single, the world prepared to lockdown. Thankfully, their raucously cathartic debut single “The Brightside (of Genocide)” made it onto the airwaves just in time.

The scuzzy overdriven electric guitars lead the way into this sonically-charged feat of Punk which carries the same stinging conviction as tracks by Punk pioneers.

While we may be able to find nostalgic comfort in tracks by the Dead Kennedys and Rancid, tracks such as The Brightside which capture the contemporary frustration over being gaslit by a genocidal government are essential. It’s more than music. It’s proof that we’ve all got the tickets to the same shitshow and we’ll watch it unfold together. It’s validation, and perhaps most importantly, it’s a healthy outlet for the angst that we’re currently stockpiling alongside toilet paper.

Vogue Villains – The Arsonist & Gasolina: Psychobilly-Infused Alt Rock

From the first raucous notes of the latest single “The Arsonist & Gasolina” from Vogue Villains, I was hooked. Any fans of Mad Sin, the Meteors, or Tiger Army are sure to appreciate Vogue Villains’ frenetic hit just as much as we did.

The gasoline-soaked soundscape offers chugging thudding basslines alongside guitar riffs which soar just as high as the Punk vocals which laced the track with devious swagger. And I wouldn’t be doing The Arsonist & Gasolina any justice if I didn’t point out that it drips with sex appeal. Vogue Villains perceptibly offer everything you could ask for from a new up and coming Alt Rock artist. We can’t wait to hear what pours from their ingenuity next.

London Based Newcomers Rocket66 release a class A Punk Rock Track with “The Comedown”

Rocket66 are the up and coming Alt-Rock band carrying that distinctively, ever alluring London Punk Rock edge which is just as essential now as it was back in the 70s. Although, it could be said that they lose Punk points for being able to play their instruments too well. With Riffs which would be at home in a Motorhead track combined with the slightly crass yet still infinitely enamouring vocals and lyrics, you’ll be treated to the Classic London Punk which you have come to love from Towers of London and the Clash.

Thankfully, The Comedown will have the exact opposite experience of having an actual comedown, the punchy, charismatically cocky energy practically oozes from the track.

You can check out The Comedown which was released on May 27th for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud now.

The AIDS Grenades – Slimy Jamber: The Most Virile Punk You’ll Hear This Year

Featherless Biped by The AIDS Grenades

If you were under the impression that Punk had become plasticised in recent years, you may want to turn your attention to the Torquay, UK-based artist the AIDS Grenades.

With their latest single “Slimy Jamber” you’re served an undiluted offering of aural chaos which carried the same level of vulgarity as American Grindcore band AxCx along with some of the absurdity which you could expect from bands such as Green Jellÿ and Fantomas. While the track certainly isn’t for the fainthearted, those who appreciate brash Punk chords alongside a complete lack of lyrical restraint are sure to find plenty to appreciate in the experimentalism. In parts, it almost felt as though I was listening to a Punch and Judy show on acid, but, I’m not all together sure that that’s not a complement!

Splinter Serve Up a Sniping Punk Rock Assault on Political Disparity with “No Thinking Zone”

https://soundcloud.com/artistserve/splinter-no-thinking-zone/s-w0m2O

Buzzsaw riffs, tight rolling rhythms, unapologetic sniping antagonism, it all feeds into the aural assault on the UK Government contained in “No Thinking Zone”; the latest single from London-based Punk outfit Splinter.

The single which was released on January 2019 provides a promising antidote to the hysteria and lies sold to us in the Daily Mail while our liberty is slowly stripped away due to the nation’s collective apathy to rub brain cells to protest. All of the accolades may be falling on the IDLES right now, but bands such as Splinter are bringing equally raw and relevant tracks to the table.

Even from the prelude, it’s perceptible that Splinter was never born to assimilate sounds from decades past, the fuzzy, sonic guitar distortion provides the perfect for the slightly Post Punk vocals to resonate with.
