DR SATSO – Sour Milk: Sonically Frenetic Psych Post Punk

‘Sour Milk’ is just one of the riotously dark and psychedelic tracks to feature on DR SATSO’s debut album ‘A Sour Milk Experience’.

For the non-discerning fans of Psych who stay in the safe confines of the overhyped works of the Beatles and Pink Floyd, the soundscape may be as pleasant as ingesting sour milk, but those with an affinity for truly mind-warping, rhythmically disturbing alternative music will definitely want to delve into this monolithic feat of Psych, Post Punk, Garage Rock and Punk.

As the bouncing frenetic guitars emit enticing similarities to the Oh Sees, the rest of the instrumentals coalesce to bring a cold cutting energy to the galvanizingly pioneering soundscape while the vocals will be a hit with any fans of Poison Ivy, Magazine and SERVO.

While Sour Milk hasn’t done my need to witness fuzzy and frenetically insurgent music live any favours, it did affirm that DR SATSO is undoubtedly one of the most viciously revolutionary artists to hit the airwaves in 2020.

West Wickhams – Who’s Out There: Mind-Altering Blood-Chilling Psychedelic Garage Rock

Scilly-hailing, Surrey UK-based Dark Punk duo West Wickhams’ has dropped their most transfixing track to date, ‘Who’s Out There’. From the first fiercely chilly note, the Surfy, Psychy Garage Rock hit will leave you psyched. (Pun kind of intended).

With elements of Post Punk found within the antagonistic vocals which practically effervesce with aggressive zeal, there are some reminiscences to the likes of Magazine, but you’ve never quite heard an infusion of Psych, Post Punk, and Garage Rock quite like this before.

If you got excited about Fontaines D.C, West Wickhams might just leave you with palpitations.

FEMUR – Misery Express: The lockdown-born No Wave track which perfectly emulates the proclivity of misery

Sheffield’s charismatically abrasive instigators of volatile Psychedelic No Wave, FEMUR, amped up the intensity and visceral fortitude of their sound with their latest release ‘Misery Express’, allowing me to finally experience something more disquieted than my own mind during lockdown 2.0.

With psychedelic melodicism acting as the glue which keeps the savagely caustic tapestry together, Misery Express pairs a tundra of rampantly thrashed over-driven guitars with creeping tones which allow you to sit in anticipation for the next monumental breakdown. It’s heavy enough to give the Berzerker a run for their money, all the while exuding an Avant-Garde noisy edge which has become synonymous with FEMUR’s sound.

The lockdown-born track perfectly emulates the proclivity of misery; the full-frontal scathing volition and those moments between where you’re able to catch a breath, but your mind is still dizzied by rage.

C. Moore Music mashes up the Alt 90s sound with “Knockin’ Around”

NYC Folk Punk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist C. Moore Music left us instantly enamoured with their genre-mashing single ‘Knockin’ Around’ which featured on their 11th solo record ‘Unruly’.

He may be a prolific artist, but Knockin Around proves that quantity never comes before quality by boasting transfixingly arrestive hooks right from the intro. The dynamic soundscape may see many of evolutions as it progresses, but your attention will never be in danger of faltering from the grungy almost tribalistic momentum which ebbs and flows in this stunningly crafted single.

With a vocal vibrato which would give Eddie Vedder a run for his money and a freshly sonic smorgasbord of Psych, Blues and Folk on offer instrumentally, Knockin’ Around doesn’t just revive what previous artists allowed us to fall in love with. He brings nostalgic aural elements into a contemporary realm with his own signature sound which will be a hit with any fans of Dinosaur Jr, Pavement and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

UK Alt artist 8udDha bl0od has released their enticingly chilling ambient soundscape “The Lost Pleiad”

Aural enigma 8udDha bl0od has unleashed yet another enticingly chilling soundscape on the airwaves with their latest release “The Lost Pleiad”.

It takes an unholy amount of talent to create an experimental track which offers instant magnetic appeal, but that’s exactly what 8udDha bl0od achieved with his ambiently beguiling single. The tones may have bordered on celestial but didn’t mean that 8udDha bl0od had to hold back on his almost Machiavellianly mischievous ingenuity.

From start to finish, The Lost Pleiad was mesmeric and all-consuming. Around the inventive electronic effects, you’ll find sporadic offerings of angularly picked guitar strings and tranquil pools of reverb which will convince you to hit play time and time again.

There’s no adjective more fitting for The Lost Pleiad than stunning. As always, we can’t wait to hear what 8udDha bl0od has in the pipeline.

Spiritual awakening 8udDha bl0od style with new song ‘’Only Water 22;11;33: Y!n & y.:.ng; M37 H3R0!n3 7h3 1778’’

With the Amazonian sounding drums at the beginning and the raw guitar riff, this is an experimental song that feels like we are the band’s friends, lucky enough to be on the couch- sipping on a cold beverage and listening to the next big thing live at work.

The Brighton Psych Pop/Rock boys are back and this time they turn up the heat real high that it’s steaming on the speakers. They really let it all out, not holding back anything or for anyone. It doesn’t even matter that the lyrics are hard to decipher, the guitar skills and drum elements are absolutely incredible. This track finds the band in top form and we are just lucky to be here for the ride.

The unique style of ’Only Water 22;11;33: Y!n & y.:.ng; M37 H3R0!n3 7h3 1778’’ blows me away and this is the tribal anthem of 2020 right here.

8udDha bl0od – !n57.:.j.:.M: Di0nY5U5: Cinematically Dystopian Scuzz-Laden Psych Rock

!n57.:.j.:.M: Di0nY5U5 is the recently released cinematically dystopian single by Brighton-based musician 8udDha bl0od. At least, that’s how it starts.

As the aural doom starts to clear, the ring of the distorted guitars gets sharper while the energy in the mix amplifies through the tribally percussive beats which start to manifest in the mix.

With !n57.:.j.:.M: Di0nY5U5, 8udDha bl0od proved that harsh discordant psychedelic scuzz has always had the capacity to be entrancing. Who knew?

No one does progressive tracks like 8udDha bl0od. No matter how many times we delve into his Machiavellian ingenuity, we’re always left psyched. Pun intended.

Alt Indie Artist Noved Remmah has released an ambiently capricious aural gem with “Dummy_gaze”

If you appreciate tracks which unfurl with unfiltered, unpolished, pure creative expression, you’ll be as hooked by US-based artist and producer Noved Remmah’s latest release as we were.

Their latest self-produced Lo-Fi Indie single Dummy_gaze serves up eccentricity, ambience, and Funk in a soundscape which may be unfamiliar but each aural curveball will heighten your curiosity and draw you deeper into the mix.

With elements of Indie, Synth Pop and Hip Hop all joining the smorgasbord of influences, Dummy_gaze is as capricious as Indie gets. The soulfully distinctive vocals retain their mesmeric appeal from start to finish while the hazy soundscape throws psychedelic blues guitar licks your way around downtempo Hip Hop beats.

It’s safe to say that you’ve never heard anything quite like this before.

The Calls – Fall Inside: An Indie Psych Playlist Essential

The Calls found the perfect balance of Indie, Psych, Shoegaze, and Post-Punk with their latest transfixingly reverb-soaked single “Fall Inside”.

The Leeds-based newcomers made sure the melodies are equipped to make your soul feel lighter while also bleeding a potent amount of 90s nostalgia which is sure to appeal to fans of the Stone Roses.

Their talent transcends assimilation through their signature tonal experimentalism. The progressions come with a captivating kaleidoscopic hypnotic appeal. There’s also a more cutting edge to Fall Inside which means fans of The Cure and Echo and the Bunnymen will want to make room for Fall Inside on their playlists.

The Calls have well and truly broken the mould with Fall Inside. I can only imagine how unholy the walls of noise they conjure in their live performances are.

Dream Mode – Film: Sweet Glitchy Aural Transcendence

You could try to imagine what happens when an Electronica artist draws from Jazz, Psych Rock, and Hip Hop and takes to his synth’s to create hypnotically immersive soundscapes. Or, you could hit play on Dream Mode’s (JJ Giurano) latest single “Film”.

The sweet glitchy futuristic aural transcendence in the instrumental mix doesn’t just get points for ingenuity. The warmth of the gentle textures offers ample amounts of spacey ambient catharsis which will envelop you for the entire 6-minute duration.

Expect seamless progressions, a shimmering cinematic tone throughout, and perhaps most importantly, the realisation that you’ve just stumbled on exceptionally promising up and coming talent.
