Casting Shadows: Sadcliffe is at his best on the stunning release Sound Financial Advice

Opening up the libraries of our emotions with skill and precision, Sadcliffe drops one of the most profound singles anyone is likely to witness in 2023 on the supremely stirring soundtrack taken off the 7-track release Our Quiet House, Sound Financial Advice.

Sadcliffe aka T.M Broad is a Portsmouth, UK-born indie folk singer-songwriter and writer who performs with heartwarming passion on each of his expertly penned creations.

His latest work comprises of the music created as I explored the recent diagnosis of my father becoming ill with cancer, how this affected me profoundly and how it caused me to reevaluate my connection to him both in the past and present.” ~ Sadcliffe

Actualising his true emotions and bravely performing with grit and honesty, Sadcliffe fuses our ears with his new Spanish classical guitar and has created a special anthem for anyone still healing from intense loss.

Sound Financial Advice from London, UK-based indie folk singer-songwriter Sadcliffe is one of the most poised tracks to enter our eardrums this year. This is a delightfully top-drawer effort made with true love.

Sabres sold sludged-up punk sanctuary in their latest single, Moronic

Now the 2006 sci-fi comedy film, Idiocracy, has become a contemporary documentary, the intelligent amongst us are left picking up the pieces of dissonance; Sabres’ latest sludged-up punk track, Moronic, is the ultimate antidote to the frustration and futility that comes as a consequence of living in the 21st century.

After noting how fans at live shows got into the groove of the dystopia-reflecting release, the Portsmouth-hailing duo shared the primal fury of their latest single that bares teeth at the right-wing press with the airwaves to extend further catharsis to the disenfranchised by association with their common sense. The incorporation of a heavily distorted reading from Nineteen Eighty-Four was a vindicating touch to the flawlessly tension-contorted release.

You will have plenty of chances to catch Moronic live as Sabres have filled their 2023 gig calendar with slots supporting Mondo Generator in addition to festival billings and dates with the support act, Hot Juice.

Moronic was released via Mayfield Records on May 19; get it in your ears by heading to Spotify.

Left Me Standing In The Pouring Rain: Lewis Hiller remembers the pain so vividly on Quite the Show

Knowing that she has gone with a rather cold exit, Lewis Hiller decides to move on and only fly into a peaceful universe again on the excellent Quite the Show.

Lewis Hiller is a Portsmouth, UK-based indie singer-songwriter who is best known for his deep lyrics and the debut single And I’ll Tell You Again.

A written response and inspired from the former lover’s perspective. It captures the heartbreaking feelings of what it’s like to lose someone [to someone else].” ~ Lewis Hiller

Dynamic and thoroughly breathless at times, Lewis Hiller drops one of the best singles ever to get over a cruel ex who walked away like it was nothing. He sings with a special energy which transports us into a world of sadness, which is next to the door of freedom, too.

Quite the Show from Portsmouth, UK-based indie singer-songwriter Lewis Hiller is a breakup single to play loud if that crushing heartbreak gets too much sometimes. After dealing with a mysterious force that eventually broke his spirit into tiny fragments scattered all over the wet floor, this is a brave single of much substance.

Getting over that unexplainable special force is the key to being happy again.

Sabres bare their teeth in their sophomore release ‘Tell Me Where It Hurts’

Here to prove that pigeonholes are for the banal is the Portsmouth alternative duo, Sabres, with their genre-evading sophomore single, Tell Me Where It Hurts.

The titularly compassionate, sonically scuzzed up single comprises just the drums and bass guitar. But the unholy rhythm section is far more than the sum of its dualistic parts, thanks to the heady synergy that grungily grinds through the collaborative chemistry between Sam Cutbush and Dominic Taylor.

Given the times that we are living in, there has been a discernible lack of aural angst, but Sabres are tackling our collective new crises, fears and perversions head-on with their unapologetic reflections on anger.

Sabres may be fresh from its late 2021 inception but in their respective earlier careers, they have supported the likes of Catfish and the Bottlemen, British Sea Power, New Candys, Phobophobes and Melt-Banana. This is far from the first time that Dominic Taylor has left me transfixed by his monstrous percussive energy; I was lucky enough to witness the launch of his former band, Burning House’s debut album, Anthropocene. I’m stoked to hear him on top form once again.

Tell Me Where It Hurts is now available to stream on Spotify.

I’m Old School: Portsmouth hip-hop artist OSD takes us back to the fun PS1 days on ‘THPS’

With a two cent coin old school feel that brings you so much nostalgic wonder through the hourglass of time, OSD heartily longs for those epic days when things where more simple and you had to turn on the modem with ‘THPS‘.

OSD is an alternative experimental hip-hop artist from the port city Portsmouth in the UK. He makes a blend of music which dusts off the cap from the good parts of the past, where things seemed so much simpler.

The OSD project is a world where thoughts and feelings are allowed to be expressed artistically through the power of music with no barriers.” ~ OSD

With quick-fire raps that slams right through your ears and into your mind to soak up introspectively, there is much to like from an artist who brings you back to a place in time that was rather special. As he forges a picture into our learning eyes that shows you what things were like in the 90’s – this true storyteller washes over our hearts calmly- and tells us how it was before we lost a part of ourselves to excessive habit.

OSD is a step into an introspective mind and place where genre boundaries are pulled down and musical experimentation is put into full effect.” ~ OSD

THPS‘ from the Portsmouth, UK-based experimental hip-hop solo act OSD, is a why-do-they-stare-at-their-screens moment which has you wondering why most of us have turned into social media junkies. With a zombie mentality that actually alienates those who see past it all – as we scroll again to avoid the FOMO – this is a flashback moment to playing PlayStation One and being happy about life before the internet took over.

If only we could all find our souls again and join together for one minute, to look up and see how beautiful this stunning world really is.

Is This One Big Gamble: Portsmouth’s OSD wonders what the odds are with the self-aware ‘Be More Selfless’

Taken off his brand new three-track EP called ‘Next Day Delivery‘, OSD shows us his rising brilliance with the introspective story about wanting to put the past in the dustbin and move into fresh waters of healing on ‘Be More Selfless‘.

OSD is a UK-based hip-hop artist, music producer, songwriter, and vocalist from Portsmouth. He makes that intelligent music that is full of realness, which is an underground gem all the way.

Over the recent years I have put more focus into writing lyrics, recording vocals and vocal production. This year I finally decided to create the OSD project, this is a project designed to let me be as creative and experimental as an artist.” ~ OSD

With an effortlessly smooth flow that has you totally entrenched into his sensational story – you heartily sense his terrifically honest style that is a masterful listen – which catches your attention with his wittily real lyrics. You feel like he is an artist that entrances the mic like a formidable wizard and swirls up the speakers to intoxicating levels of totally ear-soothing enjoyment.

Be More Selfless‘ from the South Coast, UK-based artist OSD, is an inspirational story about knowing you need to be better. You look up to your Auntie and know that you should aim to be as faithful as her. He seeks the path that shall take him onto a road that has him smiling from ear to ear, which is a swift move from what he was undesirably sucked into before.

If this is his redemption journey, we need to lock into the ride as it feels like he is only scratching the surface of his destined potential.

Growing up with Pops: Slow Coyote are at their groovy best on honest single ‘Terrible Dad’

Taken off their lighter-sparked eight-track album called ‘Family Man‘, Slow Coyote saunter in the door with a new single about the strains of fatherhood called ‘Terrible Dad‘.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire-based indie band Slow Coyote, make that slam-the-door-down grungy garage rock music for the soul to blaze with, on the laid-back grooves that gets the mellow even more chilled.

This is the story of growing up with a stressed-out Dad, who wasn’t the best sometimes and you learnt some bad habits along the way. The crazy ones always teach you something however and you did learn a few tricks on the way, but wish you had a better role model whilst growing up.

The kick-drum beat stomps the enjoyable rhythm into action, as we are treated to a band that jive into the night with only good intentions. They make that genuine type of smokey music that fills your lungs with a hazy gaze feel, to make everything okay again. After a stressful year, this is exactly the tonic to cool everything down inside your frustrated body.

Terrible Dad‘ from Slow Coyote is a terrific new single from the indie-garage rock act from New Hampshire in the USA, who must be itching to get on the road again to play their likable brand of original music, to their adoring fans all over the country.

This is an honest single that opens the door to childhood and how impressionable we are while growing up and how it can possibly define us at times, even if we wish the opposite to be true.

Hampshire based Folk-Roots artist Megan Linford shines bright with truthful ‘’Lessons’’

Put in time and you will get the results. With a soothing piano to start the song, you know this is going to be good. Giving thanks to her parents, speaking about lessons learnt- no matter how hard the occasional trips and falls.

Megan Linford’, is making her way on the UK Folk/Indie scene with her sun-kissed melodies and honest lyrics, that shows her humble and grateful attitude to life. She is an Indie artist, doing it herself with the love and support of friends and family. She hosts her own music night in Portsmouth and seems to be learning all the sides of the music industry, a very smart move indeed.

After already pushing out 2 self- released EP’s and 3 singles, Megan is working hard on her first album set for release in 2020. I personally can’t wait to hear the new music and hopefully lockdown hasn’t slowed anything down for her.

From the little I know about Megan, I can tell that this is an extremely industrious and hard working woman who won’t let anything stop her. Her voice is absolutely breathtaking and I can’t wait to see her live at a gig soon. The local music scene needs people like Megan, someone with a positive message and self-awareness, in these troubled times.

‘’Lessons’’ and more stunning vocals from Megan are here on Spotify.
