Amela is the epitome of individuality while advocating it in her hook-decorated pop hit, Who You Are

https://soundcloud.com/amelamusic/who-you-are/s-3VatgJQOYAa?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

With ample resonance to the structure of Lorde’s hit, Royal, there is no denying that Amela’s latest single, Who You Are, has the earworm factor nestled into the contemporary production.

Beyond the catchy pop vocal hooks, there’s a sticky-sweet celebration of autonomous freedom around the feisty and moody electro instrumentals that give the track enough of an edge to ensure it etches itself into your synapses and demands repeat attention.

There’s nothing more irritating than pop artists that encourage individuality while presenting themselves as fresh from the cookie-cutter stars. With Amela, she leads by infectiously quirky example. The Australian singer-songwriter has blown up across her home continent, but clearly, her sound carries all of the hallmarks of an internationally successful artist. We can’t wait to see her climb the charts.

Who You Are will officially release on July 8th. You can check it out for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud or Spotify.

Delve into OnnaDi’s oceanically lush summer playlist staple, Keep a Smile

Perfect for those chilled summer vibes, OnnaDi’s seminal single, Keep a Smile, is the ultimate sun-kissed soundtrack to fledgling romances. While the lyrics allude to the infectious happiness that doesn’t relent in the presence of the person giving those honeymoon feels, the robust African rhythms bolster the grooves and the tropically lush reverb gives Keep a Smile an idyllically oceanic atmosphere.

If urban pop that breaks the monocultural mould gets the oxytocin flowing, your summer playlists won’t be the same without Keep a Smile.

Get your gratitude fix with Nhala’ bubble gum pop-rock hit, Blissfully Distracted

With Beach Boys-style backing harmonies to round off the country nuances in the perfect pop hit, Blissfully Distracted by the LA bubble gum enchantress, Nhala’s tracks will take you higher.

The optimistic track, which hazily orbits around the emotions tied to being in the honeymoon phase, is almost as sweet as indulging in those feelings on a physical level with the new object of your affection. After her angsty no good at love era we’re all too happy to join Nhala on cloud nine.

She’s got the look; she’s got the soul, and, my God, she’s got the voice. Her Taylor Swift meets No Doubt dreamy demeanour more than has what it takes to leave you on a blissful pop plateau.

In her own words, here is what she had to say on the release.

“This is the perfect mood booster that 2022 desperately needs, leaving you craving sunshine & adventure. I’ve learned that appreciating what you have will always bring you more to be grateful for. With this single, I am literally saying “thank you”. I hope this song makes you want to put down your phone, get lost in life and fall in love with whatever that may be for you – this summer and for years to come.”

Blissfully Distracted will officially release on June 3rd. Hear it here, or head over to her official website.

Ariana Molkara showed us the epitome of country-pop class in her coming of age debut single, Birdies Gotta Fly By

With all of the class and arcane beguile of a Parisian Chanteuse, the alt-country pop singer-songwriter Ariana Molkara has made a theatrical yet intimately captivating entrance with her debut single, Birdies Gotta Fly By.

Cinematic scarcely covers the luminous production, which comes complete with pianos that would leave Ben Folds weak at the knees paired with infectiously upbeat percussion and orchestral strings to amplify the bitter-sweet coming of age sentiments expressed in the profoundly flawless single.

If this is her coming of age single, Ariana Molkara has a seriously bright future ahead of her.

Birdies Gotta Fly By was officially released on June 3rd. You can hear it for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud.

Spotlight Feature: Laura Loh delivered deeply entrenched empathy in her seminal self-produced single, Closer

After releasing her 2020 debut EP, which instantly attracted attention from BBC Introducing, Laura Loh has continued to move into her profoundly empathetic pop own. The Hampshire, UK-based classically-trained vocalist and instrumentalist is fresh from the release of her self-recorded and produced latest single, Closer.

Closer contends with the very real issue of our innate human tendency to put ourselves through the wringer every time we have realised that we aren’t infallible. In a therapeutically intimate way, the alt-pop single lulls you into a state of self-compassion, guided by Loh’s glassy vocals, the ethereal organ layers and massive percussion that aurally shows you the beauty in resilience.

If only all sonic mental health advocacy had the same visceral pull of Closer, we’d be an infinitely more self-actualised society. The deeply entrenched empathy in the single is an evocative bruiser. We can’t wait to hear what follows from Loh’s freshly discovered production boldness.

In her own words, here is what Loh had to say about her latest single:

“Closer is a song about recovery and personal growth, inspired by my experience with mental health; it is a reminder that it is okay to fall and take your time picking yourself back up. We all tend to be too hard on ourselves; I hope this song can encourage people to celebrate the progress they make every day, no matter how small.”

Closer will officially drop on May 20th; hear it on SoundCloud & Spotify.

Spotlight Feature: Grace Coletta planted the seeds for the ultimate indie-pop-touch-grass anthem, Daisies

One million streams down, the Chicago-hailing indie-pop luminary Grace Coletta is here with yet another viral-worthy single, Daisies. What starts as a lo-fi indie trippy feat of pop quickly blossoms into an ardent proclamation of nature-entwined poppy EDM that reminds you to unplug and touch some grass.

Instead of lyrically fawning about their flavour of the month, which most pop acts tend to do when the weather gets a little warmer, the singer-songwriter chose to advocate for mental health in an infectiously emboldening style that could give Vogue a run for its money.

Grace Coletta has exactly what it takes to become this generation’s indie-pop supreme. Even if she falls short, she’s well worth a spot on your radar – for your sanity’s sake. She created a brand-new plateau to set the bar with Daisies. Swoon-worthy vocal harmonies and razor-sharp hooks rarely come hand in hand, but that is just one of the signifiers of her natural alchemy.

Here’s what she had to say on her latest release:

“Daisies is about escaping. It is about getting the heck out of town when shit is just too much and that temporary joy you get when you run away from your problems because a little distance makes everything a little easier to handle.”

Daisies will officially release on May 10th. You can check it out for yourselves by heading over to Spotify.

Jake Inzerra has unleashed his seductive 80s glam indie-pop earworm, Elevator

https://youtu.be/mDdGKdlY1QU

There was no forgetting Jake Inzerra after his punchy indie-pop hit, No Lips; the singer-songwriter and producer is back on glam form in his latest single, Elevator.

Believe it or not, Inzerra’s Elevator is just as seductive as Aerosmith’s Love in an Elevator, which may have a fair amount to do with the raucous bite in his vocal timbre that sinks its teeth just as deep as Adam Levine’s.

I’ve long held the theory that all of the best artists carry androgyny into their music; Inzerra affirmed it with his infectiously hook-filled hit that soaks into your soul as much as your synapses.

Jake Inzerra’s latest single, Elevator, is due for official release on May 6th. You can check it out for yourselves via YouTube.

MACY looks at heartbreak through a sticky-sweet prism of optimism in her latest single, Pink Bandana

Nu-disco meets funk-pop in the latest single from the UK pop luminary, MACY.Pink Bandana’ pops the bubblegum pop bubble with the overdriven guitar riffs, funk-laced bass guitar and vocals that will leave any Marina and the Diamonds fan with the inclination to make the perennial pop earworm a playlist staple.

Pink Bandana, which was produced by Owain Felstead, runs you through the early stages of heartache, seen through a sticky-sweet prism of self-empowered optimism. The emboldening energy reads through the high vibe hook-filled instrumentals and MACY’s playfully fiery vocal charisma. Together, they’e a powerfully infectious combination.

Jennifer Jess has changed the perfect pop formula in her latest convictively electrifying earworm, Imagine You

It’s getting impossible not to get caught up in the hype amassing around the Atlanta-raised pop singer-songwriter Jennifer Jess and her demurely modernist nu-disco sound. Equally as affable is her tendency to bring mental health advocacy into her electrifying 80s-inspired sound.

Her latest release, Imagine You, comes after garnering 700k streams on Spotify for viral hits such as her 2019 earworm, Blue. The Shiny Toy Guns fan in me couldn’t be more enamoured with the ensnaring percussion, jangly indie pop guitars and Jess’ emotionally vulnerable yet convectively powerful vocals.

Imagine You is now available to stream on Spotify.
