The Hazel Effect has dropped their game-changing Emo Trap track White Gold Trim

American Emo Trap pioneer the Hazel Effect dropped their indulgently dark and stormy latest release White Gold Trim on June 14th. We’re already obsessed with it.

The infectiously visceral earworm kicks off with a teasing start before sliding into an anthemically fierce infusion of Emo and Trap. If there’s any track with the capacity to unite Pop Punk kids and New Wave Trap fans, it’s White Gold Trim.

As much as I enjoyed White Gold Trim hitting my ears at home through my headphones, it instantly made me wish that the angsty banger had first introduced itself on a sticky dancefloor with like-minded nihilists.

Always Manic – Falling into A Coma: Piercingly Evocative Anthemically-Charged Alt Rock

Any fans of Against Me! will undoubtedly want to check out the anthemically-charged standout single “Falling Into A Coma” from US Alt Rock artist Always Manic.

It has all the anthemic appeal as hits from bands such as the Foo Fighters, yet the striking levels of volatile dynamic emotion take Always Manic’s sound to the next level. Alt Rock tracks don’t often come as evocatively magnetic as Falling into A Coma.

The up and coming artist has proven with Falling into A Coma you can pour all the apathy and angst you like into a track, but if there’s enough euphoric energy and fuzzy guitar-driven electricity weaved into the mix, it can become an extremely effective feel-good hit.

The slight vibrato on the vocals in the first verse stung, but hearing the momentum build and the restraint falling away sweeps you up in the energy of the track until you feel as adrenalized as the track itself.

Homecoming has released their punchiest Indie Pop Punk single to date with the release of “Prime”

Pop Punk, Post Hardcore and Indie Rock all entwine in the explosively adrenalizing recently released single “Prime” from breaking San Antonio-based artist Homecoming.

They’ve gone right back to the roots of Emo and Pop-Punk with the bouncing anthemic choruses which stand as a testament to the production standard of Prime. Yet Homecoming played a bit of Machiavellian trick as they allowed the harmonically magnetic vocals to be interrupted by the raw screamo lyrics. The seismic shift in energy definitely wasn’t expected. Yet, it made the sticky-sweet choruses which followed even more absorbing.

No review of Prime would be complete without mentioning the guitar which borrows Indie Rock nuances to ensure that the track isn’t just a heavy-hitter. There’s also a smorgasbord of deftly intricate distinction within their playing style to gorge upon.

Pop-Punk quartet Monkey Knife Fight releases fiery single Seeing Red

Four-piece Pop-Punk band Monkey Knife Fight has dropped their single ‘Seeing Red’, it’s energetic, it’s honest and it’s truly amazing.

This female-fronted band needs all the praise and recognition for creating such incredible music, pulling inspiration from Pale Waves and Paramore. The story behind the lyrics is based around miscommunication, infusing this anger and frustration through a highly energetic piece of music.

They give their own modern day take on their style, it’s fiery and has a whole lot of angst being pushed through, it’s distorted in places but that doesn’t sway away from the fact it’s super lively, the vocals are more on the Pop style, embracing the high notes that are hit and having these booming vocals that are sure to be attention grabbing.

This band has so much potential and ones you should be adding to your playlist. it’s about time this year had a bit more of a modern day twist on Pop-Punk and these guys definitely brought that.

Punk Rock Newcomers Lost Planet Airmen Have Made Their Debut with “The Brightside”

As Canadian Indie Punk Rock artist Lost Planet Airmen were preparing to release their debut single, the world prepared to lockdown. Thankfully, their raucously cathartic debut single “The Brightside (of Genocide)” made it onto the airwaves just in time.

The scuzzy overdriven electric guitars lead the way into this sonically-charged feat of Punk which carries the same stinging conviction as tracks by Punk pioneers.

While we may be able to find nostalgic comfort in tracks by the Dead Kennedys and Rancid, tracks such as The Brightside which capture the contemporary frustration over being gaslit by a genocidal government are essential. It’s more than music. It’s proof that we’ve all got the tickets to the same shitshow and we’ll watch it unfold together. It’s validation, and perhaps most importantly, it’s a healthy outlet for the angst that we’re currently stockpiling alongside toilet paper.

It Came to This – Shingles: Refreshingly Façade-Free Bedroom Pop Punk

Up and coming artist It Came to This claims their music is “exactly the kind of Pop-Punk the world needs at a time like this”, we wholeheartedly agree.

As soon as you hit play on their tracks you’re met with a flood of unashamedly human angst. There’s no pretence or façade, just honest, connectable sentiment paired with upbeat rhythms to sweeten the disillusionment.

Shingles is just one of the endearingly catchy singles to be released by the bedroom Pop Punk. It may be a Lo-Fi production, but with the sharpness of the melodic hooks and the tight synergy between the raucously disquiet instrumentals and the Emo Rock-inspired vocals stand as a testament to It Came to This’ talent.

I’m sure I won’t be the only one hoping for more cathartically quaint releases in the future from It Came to This.

Too Soon Jokes – Breathe: Accordingly Absorbing Indie Rock

For their latest track, Indie trailblazers Too Soon Jokes borrowed a few stylistic influences from the 90s Alt Rock and Pop Punk and created a punchy genre-mashing Indie Rock earworm which definitely won’t overstay its welcome.

“Breathe” was released on March 6th, and the airwaves became infinitely sweeter for it. There may be some monster guitar solos in the deftly crafted track. But Breathe is all about the personable, connectable charm which spills from the accordant vocals.

Too Soon Jokes first appeared on our radars with their Christmas song “Santy Don’t Visit the Funeral Homes Little Buddy”. Naturally, we quickly found admiration for the band’s unapologetic daringness which seeps beyond their track titles and into their soundscapes.

If you’re always on the lookout for tracks which will make your heart feel full, it will be fully charged in 2:52 minutes after hitting play on Breathe.

Elle Exxe – Rose Gold: Punchy Synth-Led AntiPop

If you’re looking for an aural pick me up, look no further than up and coming artist Elle Exxe’s energetically enamouring AntiPop track “Rose Gold”.

The authentically creative synth-led soundscape pulls in influence from a myriad of different genres to ensure that you’ve never heard a track quite like this before. With a nuanced infusion of Pop Punk in the synthy mix which should also appeal to fans of 80s Synth Pop, it’s safe to say that Elle Exxe created a hit with Rose Gold.

If you could imagine what it would sound like if Panic at the Disco, Taylor Swift, and the Human League collaborated on a record together, you might be able to get an idea of the kind of refreshingly high-energy mesmerism awaits you in Rose Gold.

Dan Bibby and The Aesthetic Knobs – Mind Over Mind: Punchy Adrenalized Alt Rock

If you’re on the lookout for some punchy adrenalized Alt Rock, look no further than the latest release “Mind over Mind” from up and coming artist Dan Bibby & The Aesthetic Knobs.

Instead of narrowly squeezing their sound into a constrictive Alt Rock genre, you’ll be able to pick up on hints of everything from Pop Punk to Old School Anarcho Punk to Garage Rock, and a whole lot more. Mind Over Mind is a supercharged hit which might need a whole lot of convincing to leave your synapses alone after you’ve heard it.

Any fans of Against Me!, Rancid, Rise Against, and Social Distortion will definitely want to check out the contemporary vitriolic raucous earworm.
