Kristen Beckwith tells a piano-led story of love, longing and betrayal with ‘Already Chosen Her’

Kristen Beckwith

Utah-based pop/folk singer-songwriter Kristen Beckwith’s heartfelt piano-led story of love, longing, and betrayal, is an intense, mournful tale of heartbreak, the refrain ‘if you loved me, why’d you tell me, when you knew/you were never coming back here, you’d already chosen her’ plaintive and haunting over the delicate minor chord arrangement.

It’s beautiful, Beckwith’s voice is more than able to carry the space in the style of Beverly Craven or Norah Jones, soothing, hurt, and sorrowful all at once, the anguish in the realisation of lost love – ‘…and I thought you were the one…’-  clear and heartfelt. The sparse instrumentation detracts nothing, instead, adding a pensive melancholy to the track that perfectly matches Beckwith’s vocal.

‘Already Chosen Her’ comes from Kristen Beckwith’s debut album ‘A True Story’, released on October 2nd. You can hear more from Kristen here.

Verona Rose has released her all too relatable playful piano Indie Pop single “Overthinking”

Singer-songwriter Verona Rose has recently released her all too relatable Alt-Pop single “Overthinking”. If you’re a fan of playful piano Indie Pop hits, you’ll hit aural gold when you hit play.

Verona Rose’s narrative Pop-style will be a hit with any fans of Kate Nash or Lily Allen, but Overthinking is so much more than your usual quirky offering of eccentric Pop. With the production, Verona Rose achieved the massive euphoric sound which you’d expect to hear from a Taylor Swift track.

There is an incredible maturity and perceptible amount of stylish distinction in Overthinking. It’s even more impressive that it is coming from a 19-year-old Singer-Songwriter. It’s only a matter of time before her name graces the top of the Pop charts. Naturally, we can’t wait to hear what comes next.

Overthinking is now available to stream on all major platforms via this link.

Mared – Over Again: Strikingly Refined Neo-Classic Pop

We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek of Welsh singer-songwriter Mared’s latest semi-orchestral single “Over Again”. It’s safe to say that the Neo-Classically inspired Pop score is one of the most refined yet striking singles which we’ve heard this year.

Mared’s poised yet passionate vocals resound over the light melodic flurries weaved by the piano-led choral instrumental arrangement. Repetition may have been the inspiration behind the track, but there was none to be found in the gently and seamlessly progressive soundscape. Prepare to be arrested by Mared’s narrative lyrics which allow you to share the fraught emotion which spills from being stuck in a toxic romantic cycle and unable to escape. I’m sure everyone can relate. Even if you can’t, if you have a shred of empathy in your body, prepare for it to be accordantly tugged.

You can check out Over Again for yourselves from June 19th on all major streaming platforms via this link.

Annie Scherer has released her sophomore Alt Neo-Classic Pop single “Andy Warhol”

Whatever your opinions on Andy Warhol, Alternative Singer-Songwriter Annie Scherer’s Alt Neo-Classic Pop single which pays a stunning ode to his style while painting metaphors of blossoming relationships definitely won’t leave you torn.

I can only imagine that people will find themselves similarly as inspired by Annie Scherer’s striking vocals and expressively boundless approach to songwriting.

The single may boast a timeless Pop ballad style, but with Annie Scherer’s unapologetically bold and slightly dark style which pulls in a myriad of stylistic elements, it boasts palpable amount of contemporary commercial appeal

Andy Warhol isn’t the only artist to have left an impact on Annie Scherer. She also takes inspiration from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Ray, Lorde and Florence and the Machine. Any fans of the aforementioned will undoubtedly appreciate Annie Scherer’s arrestingly soulful release.

We’ll definitely be fixing the NY-based artist firmly on our radars to stay up to date with her future releases.

Italia Shaniah shows the world her spellbinding voice in ”Mind Bound”

That beautiful moment is so rare, you can barely remember when it happens. Good things come to those who wait they say and my goodness, that saying is so right at this precise moment. Italia Shaniah has just taken my breath away and I think she will do the same to you.

A woman who is clearly very talented as she sings, plays the piano, dances and also is a guitarist. Italia Shaniah has just dropped her single ”Mind Bound”. This song is all about finding focus, slowing down and being patient for that moment that is coming. When is this moment you may ask? That is the point. We don’t really know. When it does come, you will know and you need to be ready. Have that conversation with yourself and get your mind right for this sacrifice will be worth it. For such a young woman, a realization like this is truly remarkable.

With police sirens in the background, I visualize Italia Shaniah to be looking outside her window at the world, confident in her abilities and getting ready for the next step of her career. ”Mind Bound” is one of the breakout tracks of 2020 as this cinematic experience portrays poise & class with a touch of reflection and maturity, which has been sent to us by Italia to keep our hearts warm and motivated, during this strange time in the planet around us.

YouTube is the place to hear the incredible talent that is Italia Shaniah.

Laura Elizabeth Hughes – Pandemonium: Atmospherically Raw Neo-Classic Folk

With her latest release “Pandemonium”, Irish Folk singer-songwriter Laura Elizabeth Hughes orchestrated a tenderly pensive soundscape which will soothe your soul while simultaneously sending piercing aural daggers through your skin.

The soft vocals resoundingly fall into the atmosphere of the stripped-back single which utilises gentle piano melodies to complement Laura Elizabeth Hughes’s equally as ethereal vocals. From start to finish, you’re gifted with soft evocatively-charged alchemy.

I’d assume that anyone with the ability to listen to Pandemonium without feeling any discernible visceral emotion was categorically dead inside. It captures the chaos of our dystopic times while serving as a delicate reminder that we can still thrive within it.

Pandemonium is simply stunning. You wouldn’t find a more resonant single from an up and coming artist if you turned on the radio today.

Pandemonium is available to stream via Spotify.

Fade – Cinderella’s Fancy Eyes: Romantically Bitter-Sweet Neo-Classic Indie Pop

From the first vocal note in the standout single “Cinderella’s Fancy Eyes” from Fade’s debut EP “After Midnight” the arrestive pull of the soundscape takes its firm grip. From there on out, the bitter-sweet Neo-Classic Indie Pop melodies kick up an evocative storm whilst keeping the progressions poised and piercing.

The lyrics in Cinderella’s Fancy Eyes poignantly and deftly capture the darker side of romanticism – the side which any fans of William Blake and Jack Kerouac will appreciate. While the playfully dark tones will easily enamour anyone who finds themselves drawn to Nick Cave’s artfully bleak approach to songwriting.

Cinderella’s Fancy Eyes is a tender masterpiece which we certainly won’t forget about in a hurry.

You can check out Cinderella’s Fancy Eyes along with the rest of Fade’s debut EP which dropped on May 8th for yourselves via Spotify.

NYC Piano Pop Rock artist Filled To The Brim injected euphoria onto the airwaves with their latest soul-driven single “Turn Back the Time” which was officially released in on May 1st 2020.

Fans of emotive Power Pop definitely won’t want to miss out on the up-tempo, danceable feat of piano-led Rock. With the harmonically poised Pop vocals and the energetic instrumentals, Turn Back the Time is the perfect addition to any feel-good Pop Rock playlists.

The lyrics may revolve around regret yet Turn Back the Time unfolds as an anthemically visceral optimistic track. It provides an olive branch of connection as it offers aural consolation that everyone feels remorse. But ultimately, it proves that regrets don’t always need to be synonymous with lament.

Nxion Fosh – The Way I’m Crying on the Floor: Artfully Soul-Soaked Alt Pop

Uptempo Pop hits which tackle real raw human emotion may be harder to find than toilet paper right now but up and coming Alt Pop artist Nxion Fosh has created a magnetic track with “The Way I’m Crying on the Floor”  which is dedicated to anyone who has ever experienced toxic relationships.

Naturally, a good proportion of the population will enjoy the soul-baring lyrics which work in perfect synergy with the unapologetically artful distinctively ingenious piano chord progressions.

You may have a hard time convincing the melody to leave you alone once you’ve heard it. But of all the Alt Pop earworms you can expose yourself to, The Way I’m Crying on the Floor is definitely up there with one of the most stylistic.

The Russian-born, New York-based artist is well worth having on your radars for their expressively authentic style and their perceptible ability to bring lyrical intimacy to the airwaves.

Jake Gino – A Song: Viscerally Weighted Candidly Arrestive Pop

The evocatively visceral weight in Jake Gino’s recently released single “A Song” dropped on me right from the prelude. Minor piano keys may often play havoc with my emotions, but in A Song there was plenty more than just striking tones in absorbing melodies.

The title may seem uninspired, but once you hit play, you’ll realise that Jake Gino has a tendency not to complicate his sound. Instead, they put sentiment and soul the centrepiece of the soundscape and allow the instrumentals to become aural manifestations of connectable emotion.

If you’ve ever battled with feelings of self-doubt or feeling like nothing you ever do is quite good enough, you’re sure to find resonance within A Song.

You can check out Jake Gino’s single for yourselves by heading over to Spotify.
