Nerdy G celebrates the working classes with ‘On My Grind’

Nerdy G

Luminary rap artist Nerdy G treated us a taste of what is to come from their debut EP with the release of their single, ‘On My Grind’.

After swathes of hip hop hit the airwaves and glamorising the supposed high-life, Nerdy G switched the narrative and celebrated the working classes who work their hands to the bone to get by. Their conscious approach to lyricism isn’t the only refreshing aspect to Nerdy G’s signature sound either. With echoes of old school boom bap in their modern production, it’s impossible not to get adrenalized by this blazing Hip hop hit.

It isn’t just the kind of track that could sweeten the mood on frustrating of morning commutes. It’s the kind of track that could shift perceptions on capitalism. For good.

On My Grind was officially released on April 8th, you can check it out via SoundCloud.

JFK – Dropping some ‘Shroomz’

Pop one, pop two wi’d’a mushroom/girl you know that I can’t live without you” seems, at first glance, to be an unusual declaration of love but hey; it ain’t stupid if it works, right? And hell, it seems to be working for Florida’s JFK, judging by this chilled out slab of old-school trap.

Slightly trippy sounding, like its title, ‘Shroomz’ blooms and swells, a chiming background synth track over bass and stuttering snare beats, a psychedelic lullaby, insidious, worming its way into your head behind JFK’s rhymes. It’s catchy, poppy, and it properly hooks like the some laid-back T-Pain or Flo Rida; “Down a rabbit hole” indeed.

You can here JFK’s ‘M.Y.F.B.’ EP on Spotify.

Ted Addic Releases His Awaited LP ‘Idubology Vol.1’ Available Now Via Streaming Outlets

With his unique combination of old school rap and modern trap grooves, Ted Addic stands out as one of the most exciting acts to hail from Sydney’s thriving trap scene.

His recent single, Krispy Kreme is a perfect example of the great production aesthetics and energetic performances that this artist puts into his work. Taken from the artist’s recent work, “Idubology Vol.1”, The song has a lush, punchy atmosphere. The tone of this truck is rich, yet it remains personal and direct, with a relentless lyrical flow that brings grit and melody to the table in equal doses.

The stunning music video offers a nice cinematic interpretation of the song’s theme itself: it is all about artists struggling to actually pursue their career and let their voices be heard. This particularly thought-provoking topic is further explored in  “Idubology Vol.1”, which offers an earnest portrait of “individuals living through the dark side of life”
