EDDIE SATURN – VACATION featuring MyCompiledThoughts

https://soundcloud.com/eddiesaturn29/vacation-ft-mycompiledthoughts-prod-by-donnydarkpop-eddie-saturn

If you like your music fuelled by Funk, Groove, and Soul, prepare to be enamoured by EDDIE SATURN’s latest playfully vibing mix “VACATION” featuring MyCompiledThoughts.

The world may be a little insane right now and going on vacation may be hard but listening to this warm and vibrant mix definitely isn’t. There’s little use in attempting slap a genre-label on VACATION, the soundscape transcends the archaic notion of aural constraint.

The popping melodies sit in constantly evolving beds of electronic effects and pick up momentum as the track which is sure to appease any fans of Daft Punk progresses. Yet with the experimentally melodic Indie feel, there’s very little in the way of assimilation in VACATION.

Perceptibly, co-producer Donny Darkpop pulled it out of the bag when they polished the mix which doesn’t just verse about nirvana, it takes you there.

Kaedo – Survival of the Fittest: Candid, Hook-Filled Old School Hip Hop

Fans of smooth Old School Hip Hop will undoubtedly want to pay attention to the latest release “Survival of the Fittest” from up and coming artist Kaedo.

With a new studio album due to drop, there has never been a better time to jump on the hype around this trailblazer of an artist who perceptibly excelled in reviving old school sounds with brand-new contemporary appeal.

The atmospheric groove alone is enough to make you want to want to give Survival of the Fittest repeat attention. There are also the incredibly immersive melodic progressions which give the track an Indie vibe and the candid lyrics don’t just sting, they burn with sincerity.

East London Hip Hop Artist and Producer Haz has Made Their Debut with the Single “Midas”

Given the state of our society, I find myself consistently surprised at the lack of socially-inspired Hip Hop on the airwaves. East London Rap artist Haz has more than made up for the shortfall with his debut single Midas.

There’s a slight nuanced touch of Grime in Midas, yet, it is a track which is bound to appeal to any fans of the Hip Hop greats such as Biggie and Tupac. As well as holding a stark mirror to contemporary injustice, Midas lays down a smooth Old School jazz-soaked beat which amplifies the reflective feel of the multi-layered soundscape.

It may be a debut single, but Haz has perceptibly learned a thing or two working as a producer and an engineer in their studio for the past 6 years. Debut Hip Hop tracks don’t often come as polished and as radio-ready as Midas.

Mistajay – Savage: Warm, Jazzy Old School Hip Hop

“Savage” is the exceptionally misleadingly-titled latest single from up and coming Hip Hop artist Mistajay. With the jazzy, warm and almost ambient instrumentals, Savage is practically hypnotic as far as the beats are concerned.

Yet, when it comes to the bars, Mistajay projects even more heat into the mix with the fiery soulful verses. The verses may follow a smooth place, but there’s plenty of sticky-sweet energy projected into them all the same.

Usually, you’d have to turn to one of your favourite old school artists to get this much resonance out of a Hip Hop track. Yet, it’s impossible not to warm to Mistajay’s humble and gentle approach to the genre. Which we’re sure we’re going to hear plenty more of in 2020. Watch this space.

You can check out the official music video to Savage which dropped in September 2019 via YouTube.

Old School Hip Hop and New Wave Trap Combine in CiViL’s Latest Single “Guarantee”

Up and coming Hip Hop artist CiViL’s latest single “Guarantee” finds the perfect balance between New Wave Trap and Old School Hip Hop.

In Guarantee, CiViL laid down their angst-fuelled Rap bars on the solid beats which borrowed elements from Old School Hip Hop such as the ominous atmospheric tones. With the beats and the bars running clean with minimal effect, Guarantee almost has a freestyle feel which makes it all too easy to get hooked into the narrative.

It may be a short (and not so sweet) track, but within the 2-minute duration, you’ll see why so many Rap fans are drawn to CiViL’s deadpan Rap delivery which flows next to completely synergetic beats. Needless to say, the production on Guarantee is incredible.

The Incredible T – FTC 190 Song: Old School Immersive Hip Hop

https://soundcloud.com/the_incredible_t/ftc-190-song

The Incredible T’s track “FTC 190 Song” isn’t just a Hip Hop mix which is easy to slip into. It’s one that you melt into thanks to the US-based artist’s tendency to go right back to the old school with their sound.

Any fans of Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole are sure to appreciate the warmth of the nostalgically Jazz-infused tonally warm track. With The Incredible T’s effortlessly smooth lyrical delivery, it’s all too easy to get hooked into the lyrical narrative which finds perfect synergy with the fluid polished beats.

Not all urban artists put their soul on show in their tracks. But you’ll find plenty of soul in all of The Incredible T’s releases. We hope to hear plenty more from them in 2020.

Airospace Has Revived Old School Hip Hop Once More with Their 5th Album “Sorry to Bother You”

https://open.spotify.com/track/38Gg0VGcdyFeZ6XvBj2fIL

Airospace has revived the old school reflective Jazz Hip Hop vibe once more with their 2019 album “Sorry to Bother You”.

While each of the nine tracks offers a sublimely restorative aural experience, there’s no better introduction than the title track. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more lucidly cathartic instrumental arrangements in contemporary Hip Hop. Yet, Airospace isn’t an artist who holds anything back their lyrics or the delivery. It’s pure vitriolic conviction which will compel you to hang off each and every word.

Even the humility in the title is enough to picque your interest. It isn’t exactly easily found within Hip Hop, yet, Airospace has an ample reserve of sweet humble expression. It was all to easy for us to warm to the album. Thanks to the smooth and polished production, we’re fairly certain that your reaction will be the same as ours.

MC King Khan – Drama: High Vibe Hip Hop

MC King Khan went right back to old school with their latest drop “Drama”. We all know those people who thrive on drama and centre their lives around it. This track is the antidote to the frustration felt by people infatuated with drama.

The EDM Hip Hop beats pack a punch at the same time as allowing you to appreciate the chilled vibe of the mix. With lashings of bass within the light shimmering experimental mix, the track resonates as playful whilst losing none of the conviction or passion which Drama was born from.

And MC King Khan perceptibly didn’t hold back when it came to penning the wit-soaked Rap bars. You can practically feel the catharsis which they felt while writing Drama.

Chicago Ray Ray – G Shit ft. MC Eiht: Old School West Coast OG Hip Hop

Rap artist Chicago Ray Ray has made their debut with their own brand of West Coast Hip Hop “G Shit” in collaboration with MC Eiht.

Fans of the West Coast greats such as NWA, Ice Cube, and 50 Cent are sure to appreciate the old school vibes under a brand new contemporary grind.

With gritty bars and an even grittier persona over hyped Hip Hop beats G Shit offers all of the infectious aggression you could possibly ask for from a Hip Hop mix.

Cudlino – Power ft. B-Str8 the Clippa: Empoweringly Resonant Old School Hip Hop

https://soundcloud.com/cudlino/power-ft-b-str8-the-clippa

Up and coming Hip Hop artist Cudlino has recently released their latest track “Power” featuring B-Str8 the Clippa. Together, they created a playlist essential for any Hip Hop fans who are thinking of resigning themselves to apathy.

There’s no shortage of good vibe music. But there is a shortage of music which speaks directly to you. While many Rap artists are busy versing their rags to riches story, Cudlino had a refreshing change of approach by throwing lyrical waxing in your ears which tells you exactly what you need to hear to empower yourself.

The old school beats follow a mellow pace as they meander through uncomplicated accessible rhythms which makes it all too easy to hook into the track.
