Platune has dropped their fiery flawless Rap hit “The Assassin”

Philadelphia-based Rap artist Platune has just dropped their debut EP “Enter the Cave” featuring the colossal track “The Assassin”. Any fans of Wu-Tang Clan are going to want to hear the flawlessly fiery release.

Everything is on point in the Assassin. The way Platune’s snappy Rap bars collide against the smooth grind of the Old School instrumentals, the atmospheric layers which pull you deeper into the beguiling mix and the laceratingly sharp lyrics which offer a straight-up attack on the ludicrous state of our society.

By starting off with a sample affirming that all is vanity and illusion, the unfaltering tone for the track is set and it sticks until the dark, eerie, convictive track fades to a close. I honestly can’t remember the last time I heard so much visceral conviction in any track. Platune is exactly the kind of Rap artist we need on the airwaves right now.

Dre Bennett has dropped their perception-shifting, gratitude-invoking Hip hop track “Dynamic”

After the success of their debut single “Believe”, up and coming Hip Hop artist Dre Bennett stepped into the recording booth with yet another perception-shifting track with “Dynamic”.

Dynamic captures many different atrocities which we’re facing in 2020, but between the sobering illustrations of injustice are reminders not to take anything for granted. Systematic racial oppression and high unemployment rates are very real issues. But fighting them doesn’t mean you need to resign to hopelessness and despair.

It’s all too easy to fall into an existential hole these days. Fresh and resonant Hip Hop tracks like Dynamic are essential to have on the airwaves to remind you that optimism isn’t impossible, and apathy isn’t the only answer.

With lines like “Your perceptions are not my reality,” you’re forced to consider your personal perception of reality. Dre Bennett’s lyrical wisdom is worth its weight in gold.

You can check out Dynamic along with Dre Bennett’s other releases via Spotify and all other major streaming services via this link.

King Yash – To Dada and Ma: The Most Candid Hip Hop Track You’ll Hear This Year

Hip Hop doesn’t come much more wholesome than up and coming artist King Yash’s single “To Dada and Ma”. The shimmering beats in this lucidly light mix create the perfect platform for King Yash’s almost spoken word verses which hook you from the first verse.

Only after hearing King Yash’s track did I realise how absurd it is that expressions of familial love are never heard on the airwaves. There’s just a sea of facades spitting self-aggrandized bars in the hope that they’ll resonate. To Dada and Ma is an all too refreshing exception. The 90s-vibe frill-free track serves a stark reminder to show gratitude to the people who have spent a considerable amount of blood, sweat, and tears to bring you into the world.

DonnieCoupe has put their own spin on Old School Hip Hop with their single “Tomorrow”

DonnieCoupe’s playfully experimental approach to Old School Hip Hop in their recently released single “Tomorrow” is as refreshing as it is unforgettable.

Tomorrow kicks off with a unique take on Alicia Morton’s iconic track Tomorrow before progressing into a solid downtempo Jam with steady beats and an infusion of Jazz to amplify warmth of the mix.

While none of our tomorrow’s are going to be quite as lit or exciting as the hedonism which is contained in DonnieCoupe’s track for quite a while, it’s still a resolving track to sink into and soak up the soul.

Yet, DonnieCoupe does use his lyrical wit to serve a stark reminder that we’re never guaranteed today or tomorrow. Even in the midst of a pandemic that’s easy to forget. So, mortality reaffirming tracks which celebrate life such as this one will always be necessary on the airwaves and our playlists.
