Sugar the pill with The Elegant Chasers’ aural antidote to modernity, My Medicine

Rock has known many guises throughout the decades; plenty of them can be revelled in with The Elegant Chasers’ latest intensely affecting track, My Medicine. By fusing the soaring soul of Journey, the brashy grit of 90s Britpop, Slash-reminiscent guitar work, and hints of hard rock to augment the rhythmically chameleonic hit to the nth degree, alt-rock’s most debonair solo artist delivered a triumphant tour de force with My Medicine.

Featuring Lloyd Pritchard on skins, the self-recorded and produced release, which was spawned Rembrandt Rooms, Hersham, Surrey, hits a raw nerve towards the outro to deliver an exposition on the plaintive reality of living as a struggling artist in an epoch which only favours legacy artists and novelty, giving listeners plenty to think about, if they can tear their minds away from the Oasis reunion hype.

My Medicine will be prescribed on September 27; sugar the pill of modernity by streaming the single on SoundCloud and Bandcamp.

Those Heavy Souls opened the doorway to the Britpop pantheon with How High’s Too High?

With plenty of stylistic and introspective substance to put behind their indie rock swagger, Those Heavy Souls hit the ground (trail)blazing single, How High’s Too High. Orbits above indie landfill, this indie dance rock hit, which takes the infectious rhythms of Kasabian and Led Zeppelin and gives them a gritty 90s Britpop edge, won’t know when it’s time to stop reverberating around your mind after the outro.

With red-hot wailing guitars searing across the frenetic pace of the single which is punctuated by strobing synths, electronic breakbeats and bass drums big enough to kick you in the chest, the single asserts itself as a definitive indie anthem.

If you’ve ever come close to slipping into hedonistic oblivion to escape the fray of a torn material reality, How High’s Too High will hit hard enough to bruise. After news of the Oasis reunion has swept up the UK in a fever of indie nostalgia, How High’s Too High is the perfect track to remind indie fans that there are plenty of contemporary acts worthy of the Gallaghers’ iconic status.

How High’s Too High? dropped on August 23rd; stream the single on all major platforms, including Spotify.

LuisG delivered a raw indie-rock shot of redemption with ‘Second Chances’

If you paired the pensive sting of The Verve with the euphonic consolation of Nada Surf’s most heart-wrenching hits and added the rugged heart-in-throat signature of Chris Cornell, you’d come incredibly close to what LuisG created for the title single of his debut LP, Second Chances.

The track finds a tender way of advocating for redemption. Though many of us operate as though we have only known wrong when it comes from the vindictiveness of others, Second Chances prises your mind open to the reality that we’re all leagues away from perfection. Through this vulnerable, confessionally powerful release, LuisG put his heart on the line; you can’t help but follow suit as you sink into the absolution of the melodies.

LuisG, with roots in indie rock, pop, emo, and folk, is increasingly renowned for filtering his powerful melodic style and evocative storytelling through a Southern Cali lens. Based in Las Cruces, NM, he has carved out a niche for himself in both online spaces and local circles. His journey, marked by reflective and personal songwriting, has seen a progression from his first single, Waves, in January 2022 to his debut EP, Somewhere to Call Home, later that year.

Second Chances is now available to stream on all major platforms, including Spotify.

Seattle converges with Manchester in BLUEBOO’s latest smorgasbord of alt 90s aesthetic, Cherry Woman

With a touch of Oasis to the choral vocals to anchor the anthem in its melodicism, the alt-90s Seattle sound doesn’t asphyxiate any originality out of the revivalist nature of BLUEBOO’s latest single, Cherry Woman. It teases just the right amount of nostalgia for Screaming Trees, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam as your synapses fire to the tune of the Chicago-based artist’s off-kilter hook-filled sonic signature.

Notably, we aren’t the only ones finding addictive propensities in the effortlessly original sound of BLUEBOO. They’ve garnered acclaim from across the globe, especially on their strikingly ethereal seminal single, You Win Abigail, which has amassed over 260k streams on Spotify alone.

Cherry Woman is now available to stream on Spotify.

Life gave James Sebastian lemons, and he made Lemon Sunshine.

60s psych-pop and 70s rock collide in the latest single to be released by the Exeter-based newcomer James Sebastian. ‘Lemon Sunshine’ is a stridently impassioned single that is viscerally flooded with raw vocal emotion but the dreamy vintage tones of the consistently ascending instrumentals take all of the sting out of the vocal defiance.

If you can imagine the point where the Beatles and the Stone Roses meet in the middle, you’ll get an idea of the kind of refreshing nostalgia James Sebastian is serving here. Lyrically, Sebastian delivered the ultimate post-breakup track that captures that bitter-sweet moment when you’re reminded of your own power and make no bones about taking it back.

Lemon Sunshine is now available to stream on Spotify.

Folk meets Britpop in River Knight’s latest single, She Came Round, featuring Ralph Walling.

Americana meets UK Britpop in River Night’s alt-folk single, She Came Round, featuring Ralph Walling. While instrumentally, the semi-orchestral folky instrumentals run in the same vein as Dylan’s did in the 70s, there’s a touch of Oasis and the Stone Roses to the vocals that contrast with the accordant tones of the acoustic guitar progressions.

She Came Round is just one of the authentically original singles from the Southampton-based duo’s lockdown-born album, Grow, which released on June 25th. With plenty of tour dates in their diary, 2021 could very well be the year of River Knight.

She Came Round is now available to stream via SoundCloud.

Mike Stoyanov has made their unmissable indie garage rock debut with ‘Star’.

After lending his talent to various rock and blues outfits, London’s Mike Stoyanov made his solo debut on February 12th with the punchy indie garage rock track ‘Star’.

With the vocal swagger of Liam Gallagher and his fresh take on garage rock, anyone still turning to indie for their aural euphoria fixes will undoubtedly feel the dopamine flood when hitting play. It’s an unapologetic feel-good track that couldn’t have hit the airwaves at a better time. If anything can dissolve the ego, it’s enduring 12 months of pandemic times that have stifled the arts, yet, Mike Stoyanov is here with an anthemic reminder that the rock n roll persona is still as fitting as ever. He’s pretty convincing too. You’ll want him on your radar for his sophomore release.

Star is now available to stream via Spotify.
