MOVIE MOVIE shine on in their glamorously cinematic single, Bright Lights

NOW PLAYING by MOVIE MOVIE

Psychedelic Furs fans will want to clamour around the latest glamorously cinematic rock n roll meets power pop single, Bright Lights, from NYC’s new-found finest, MOVIE MOVIE.

With the psychedelically upbeat melodies that come with a swoon-some bite and Beach Boys backing harmonies, objectivity quickly falls to the wayside while Bright Lights is tonally shimmering into your synapses. While the lyrics set up the narrative of a lonesome wannabe starlet, the synths transport you away from this intrepid era and plant you into one where James Dean and Hepburn reigned supreme.

Bright Lights was officially released on July 22nd. Check it out for yourselves on Bandcamp.

Holy Vulture unleashed their hook-rife alt-rock hit, I Can’t Help It

Holy Vulture

NYC Rock n Roll trio, Holy Vulture, relinquished all control in their latest melodically hook-rife single, I Can’t Help It. With the stabbing staccato rhythms courtesy of the bass and guitar, the tension-filled track efficaciously reflects the reality of powerlessness in the presence of an all-consuming paramour that strips us of our autonomy and replaces it with addiction to the source of the obsession. Who said romance was dead?

Since 2019, Holy Vulture has been bringing a brand-new frenetic rock flavour to the alt-rock scene. Sure, stylistic nods to the icons of rhythmic rock are there, but assimilation certainly isn’t the aim of Holy Vulture’s game.

I Can’t Help It will officially release on September 9th. Check it out for yourselves here.

The Rochester roots-rock renegade Brian Lindsay has delivered the ultimate riff-licked ‘Revival’

Ahead of his fourth album, Revival, the NYC roots-rocker, Brian Lindsay, teased the modernity-weary, whiskey-soaked soul within it by giving us a sneak peek of the title single, which throws you right back to the time when lighters were held in the air instead of iPhones.

His virtuosic yet humble approach to songwriting is one of the best escapes from the 21st-century that you could possibly ask for. Between the deep yearning romanticism and the swoon-worthy soaring guitar licks, you get the affirmation that Brian Lindsay is the real revival deal. As much as he taps into Springsteen and Ryan Adams-Esque high energy melodicism, he leans into his signature rugged yet smooth intoxicating aural juxtaposition style.

Revival was officially released on May 20th. You can check it out for yourselves by heading over to Spotify or via his official website.

Gooseberry’s latest single “The Protagonist” becomes a new contender for the catchiest Alt Indie track of the year.

NYC Alt Rock artist Gooseberry has returned with their unique infusion of Rock, Blues and Indie with their latest single “The Protagonist”. You could listen to the radio all day and still not encounter a catchier track.

With Courtney Barnett included in Gooseberry’s lyrical influences and Foo Fighters lending instrumental inspiration, The Protagonist is a gritty deftly stylised anthemic hit. It’s rare that we can say that the melodic hooks are just as sharp as the lyrical wit.

You’ll find the whole tonal palette served up in The Protagonist. From hazy warm Psych Pop tones to overdriven grinding guitar licks. The only constant in the dynamic hit is the magnetic accordance from the vocals which verse the highly relatable lyrics. I think we can all get behind the sentiment “The TV is all that’s real” after 3 months in lockdown.

You can check out Gooseberry’s single The Protagonist by heading over to Spotify.

Takeover – Picturesque: Bitingly Romantic Sun-Soaked Alt Rock

https://takeovernyc.bandcamp.com/track/picturesque

If you missed the waves which NYC artist Takeover made this year with their sunny, eccentric EP “Starr Street”, it’s our pleasure to introduce the vibrantly melodic feat of Alt Rock.

The first track “Picturesque” is the perfect introduction to their angsty romantic edge. If you could imagine what the Beach Boys would sound like if they put more scuzz on their guitars and more bite behind their vocals, you’d get a good idea of what’s on offer.

There’s also a slight hint of 00s Emo Rock to Picturesque, but make no mistakes, Takeover is a band who carry a serious stylistic nuanced sound despite the slightly rough Garage Rock tonality. It’s a genre smorgasbord which you’re definitely going to want to sink your teeth into.

You can check out Picturesque for yourselves by heading over to Bandcamp now.
