Saiint Pat goes viral with his latest trap track, ‘Come Thru’

The official music video for Saiint Pat’s latest hazy melodic trap single, Come Thru, is well on its way to racking up half a million streams on YouTube since its release on March 29th; the vibe-master’s track is the pinnacle of new wave trap. It’s clear that Saint Pat doesn’t just create hip hop, he lives and breathes it.

Saiint Pat’s journey started with a $30 mic and a love for Tupac, Chief Keef and 50 Cent but no matter how many accolades he has collected, you can count on his refusal to move away from the raw and intimate freestyle vibe to his tracks that flow with unbridled versatility and talent.

‘ALLADAT’ is the third release from breaking rap artist and vibe alchemist Vaun1k, his music flows in the tides of new wave trap, but even old school fans will want to test the waters in this smooth ride of a release.

Feenyx – Atlantan rap with a brand new ‘Horizon’

Raised by The Church and honed by the streets, Atlanta-based hip-hop artist and producer Feenyx is far from the typical rapper; on new single ‘Horizon’ we get a fresh combination of thunderous bass mixed with sampled brass and horns underlying Feenyx’s unique flow and grind. There’s elements of Snoop in here, little flourishes kind of reminiscent of Snow and that bombastic, edge-of-reggae delivery, it’s brash, loud, and in your face, with a catchy hook and that big, bold three-note ostinato phrase that lodges in your head for hours after listening. ‘Horizon’ is already getting national radio play, and – as Feenyx’s first single of 2021 – promises to be dropping hot in the clubs this summer.

You can check out the video for ‘Horizon’ on YouTube; find Feenyx here.

Tasty takes the sting out of growing pains with his latest single, ‘Grow Up’.

After racking up over half a million streams with his EP, ‘Therapy’, New Orleans-hailing alternative artist Tasty is here with his latest sonic evocative firestorm, ‘Grow Up’. His lyrical exploration of growing pains collides with instrumentals which exhibit his versatility throughout the progressive track that incorporates elements of alt-rock, synth pop, hip hop and plenty of other textures in-between.

Carrying the same angst as Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory, the same atmospheric grooves as The Midnight and plenty of the new wave hip hop sound, Grow Up is a stunning act of unintentional genre-defiance. There is a real sense that the authenticity flowed through unadulterated expression, which explains Tasty’s success since rebranding themselves from a hip hop artist to a pioneer of the new wave.

Grow Up is now available to stream via Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.

Tea Sea – Vitals: A Subversive Indie RnB Trap Love Story

Spoken word poet and independent artist Tea Sea dropped his most evocative track to date with the release of his 2021 single, ‘Vitals’, which bridges the gap between how love manifests in real life and how it appears in lyrical form.

Vitals took inspiration from the mental mania that transpires after falling for someone as vulnerability and insecurity broil to the surface. The Odenton, MD-residing artist’s raw yet melodic single perfectly captures romantic anxiety, but the beats in the indie RnB trap single brings a soulful groove that your rhythmic pulses won’t want to resist.

Tea Sea’s vocals are connectable from the first note. You will immediately sense the intimacy and find the resonance through the humble clean vocals in the articulate release that will undoubtedly put Tea Sea in good stead with his career in 2021 and beyond.

His debut release, ‘Kaleidoscope Jellyfish’, hit the airwaves in 2018; since then, he’s proven that he’s got the determination to put his name on the map. With three singles released so far this year, lockdown has been beneficial to his creativity and artistic hunger – it is safe to say that his debut LP definitely won’t bite.

Vitals is now available to stream via Spotify or SoundCloud.

Nick Tello created the ultimate dance hit with his trap mix of Aristotle Jones’ Caligula.

For his latest release, Boston-based produced producer Nick Tello reworked the iconic track, Caligula, by Aristotle Jones by pumping it with more adrenaline and bringing it in line with the new wave of trap.

While the original offers grooving melodic NYC hip hop vibes, Nick Tello took Caligula to an anthemic new level making the track an infinitely better choice for dancefloor DJs to spin. The organic feeling that the original came with may have been replaced by brashier 808s and plenty more bass, but there’s no disputing that Nick Tello made it his own.

It’s all about the vibe in Ri’s standout Southern trap track, ‘Keep Up’, featuring TeeHxncho.

If there’s nothing more important than the vibe when you hit play on a track from a new artist, your first time listening to Ri definitely won’t be last.

The Tennessee-born 22-year-old producer’s unique sound comes with strong ties to Southern trap and pulls in influence from the likes of Scrim, Three 6 Mafia and Take a Daytrip. But in the lead track ‘Keep Up’ from his latest album created in collaboration with TeeHxncho, he kept the expression authentic; it’s practically an explosion of creative energy and fiery wordplay.

Keep Up is now available to stream via Spotify.

Nicky L merges old school with new wave in his sophomore single ‘Curtains Closed’

New York-born hip hop artist Nicky L’s music journey may have started with the influence of Eminem, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac and Nas, but for their latest release, Curtains Closed, they drew in the stylings of XXXTENTACION and Juice WRLD to offer a unique combination of old school and new wave.

The track perfectly captures the bitterness of those young love catastrophes where you can tell that it will be a disaster from the start, but something forces you down that path all the same. It follows on from their debut release, ‘Little City Freestyle’, which served as the perfect introduction to Nicky L’s style where lyrically, he lays it all down on the line and through his delivery, you can hear their determination to join the ranks of NYC hip hop greats. Based on Curtains Closed, it seems likely.

Curtains Closed is available to stream via Spotify.

Sionis wants to take us ‘Swimming’

Sionis is a 21-year-old musician from Charlotte, North Carolina, with a back history of pop-punk mixed with hip hop and rap. ‘Swimming’ comes by way of artists like Mobb Deep, Havoc, Screwball, or Tyler The Creator. Lyrically, it’s all about a previous girlfriend, and it’s clear that that relationship didn’t always go as well as it might have, with lines like ‘if we fuck then you can scratch me ‘til I bleed/ then I’ll choke you out to gain more energy’ and ‘back and forth, back and forth/ the passive-aggressiveness, I’m sick of it’, but Sionis has some pretty smooth flow mixed with the classic T-Pain autotune vocal production. There’s a solid backing of beats, bass, and piano that bounces the track along in a chilled way, but there’s an underlying anger and aggression here too that fits the vocal message.

You can hear ‘Swimming’ on Soundcloud, and check out Sionis on Instagram.

Tommi – Stay Close: absorbing indietronic trap

Tommi

After a string of successful singles, alt-trap artist, Tommi, released their debut LP release ‘Tourist’ which exhibits their experimentally ethereal production style and tendency to delve deep with their introspection inspired lyricism.

The standout single, ‘Stay Close’ is as intimate and as absorbing as new wave trap gets. It holds just as much merit as a beguiling feat of instrumentally sparse indietronica as it does a lyrically-led trap track. Paradoxically, Stay Close is both bold and daring and absorbingly accordant all in the same affable urban breath.

While most artists create for themselves, Tommi creates for the younger generation. His music is essentially an invitation for others to see that you don’t need to be perfect to succeed. With his motto being ‘life lessons as studio sessions’, do I really need to tell you to get him on your radar?

Tourist is now available to stream and purchase in full via apple music.
