Shxnnon invites you to get in touch with your emotions with “Feelings”

If you’re a fan of RnB Soul classics but wish they were more fitting for contemporary and confusing times, hit play on breaking artist Shxnnon’s recently released single “Feelings”.

With her 5th single, Shxnnon ensured that Feelings pertained the heart-warmingly resolving effects of classic Soul while offering a colossal amount of stylistic appeal.

Switching between synth notes which are doused with lush reverb and delicately intricate piano keys allowed the past and future of Soul to converge in the deeply evocative hit which gives you a candid view into Shxnnon’s frustration, optimism and passion. It practically begs for repeat attention through sheer authenticity.

Feelings is available to stream on all major platforms via this link.

Dropping Julia has dropped In the Clear: A Funk Rock and Neo-Soul classic

In the Clear by Dropping Julia

Five-piece band Dropping Julia based in Virginia have dropped their single ‘In the Clear’, infusing their Funk Rock and Neo-Soul sound.

Starting with that insanely funky riff on the guitar, adding in the high-pitched tone from the trumpet. Combining all these elements to give it that Funk sound that this band master so perfectly. The instrumentation starts off very smooth and quieter in volume, the overall style of the track is fairly calming and isn’t too in your face, even though it has the occasional Rock element that sways through it.

As it hits the middle the melody raises and the pitch begins to get louder and more overpowering as the sound through the trumpets stands out, The riffs tend to get heavier as the electric guitar has it’s moment to shine, giving it that Rock essence. The voice has an adenoidal tone to it, sometimes it’s quite raspy and in others it’s high-pitched, but the way they change their vocal ranges to suit the pace of the instrumentation is impressive.

If you’re into a bit of Funk Rock or you’re looking for new music to listen too, be sure to check this one out.

The Guest Room – Bad Days: Sunny & Suave New-Soul

The Guest Room are here with a singer that carries a wonderfully sweet voice, a drummer that hits his snare drum according to the rhythm of your heartbeat, and all the other lads that I’m sure they all are superior players of their instruments. They come with their new tune called “Bad Days” to draw a smile on your face, and they’re doing so with an eclectic new-soul sound.

I’ve mentioned this already, their female lead singer’s voice is splendid. It is more like chunks of ethereal caress that she exhales with every syllable, aimed for your inner core. That surely doesn’t aim to take anything away from the rest of the band, as the songwriting excellence that they present on this song is overly satisfying, at the very least. “Bad Days” with its transitions and steady emotional flow, it’s a total must-listen for people that get down with the lounge and new-soul side of music.

Hiatus Kaiyote, Fleetwood Mac & Vulfpeck are some of their influences, according to them. I say that they are also inspired, not simply influenced, which is a big deal. Give “Bad Days” a listen here

Contemporary R&B Artist Rhianna Keane Makes Her Debut With the Single “Fool”

Rhianna Keane

“Fool” is the lyrically transfixing debut single from up and coming R&B Soul artist Rhianna Keane. The Birmingham-based artist’s sound moves far beyond atmospheric; the allure of the tonally warm concordance in Fool moves into the realms of aural alchemy.

Her sound may flirt with Contemporary R&B, but there’s enough familiarity found in the soundscape to make Fool instantly accessible and arrestive. Any fans of Amy Winehouse are sure to see the appeal in Fool. Through the attitude-driven vocals and sublimely stylistic soundscape, it is as distinctive as contemporary R&B gets.

There is little in the way of indication that this radio-ready full-bodied single was created by an artist fresh from her inception. She’s definitely one to watch.

Taura – Lucky Girls: Melodiously Smooth Neo-Soul R&B

“Lucky Girls” is the second single released by the up and coming Neo-Soul Pop artist Taura’s debut EP. The London-based singer-songwriter’s sound may be heavy influenced by soulfully archaic soundscapes, but the attitude which Taura brings to the airwaves is unapologetically modern.

There’s a resonance behind Lucky Girls which sinks its teeth in through the ambience offered by the Jazz-style piano which accompanies the soft and melodic R&B Hip Hop Pop beats. And once you hit play, you won’t need any of my flowery words to remind you of the concordance which Taura is able to offer vocally. Not all voices are made to sit so synergistically against a melody, but Taura’s perceptively is.

Claudia Talia – Amy Winehouse: A Decadently Rhythmic True Story Told Through Lush Layers of Neo Soul & Jazz

It’s highly unlikely that the music industry will ever forget Amy Winehouse for her painfully beautiful approach to Neo Soul. And whilst there are stunning artists such as Claudia Talia putting out tracks such as “Amy Winehouse” as a jazz-soaked ode to the fallen icon, it certainly isn’t going to happen any time soon.

The up and coming artist’s decadently rhythmic approach to production enables her to orchestrate a moodily mesmeric soundscape which is rich in tonality. Whilst the unrestrained lyricism captivates you in the narrative of Claudia Talia’s pensive introspection. Considering that Amy Winehouse was the New York and Puerto Rico-based artist’s first single, you really couldn’t ask for any more. She’s stamped down her soulful sound and I can’t wait to hear the bluesy melodies she cooks up next.
