UK Alt Indie Rock quartet SOHLER made their debut with the jaw-dropper of a single “Computer”

When was the last time you hit play on an Indie Rock track and felt genuine excitement for what was being poured into your ears? If it has been a while, indulge yourself in the electrifying ingenuity contained in the debut single Computer by Alternative artist SOHLER.

It’s even better than finding a forgotten tenner in your pocket. Because who can put a price on discovering an aural cocktail of sounds you’ve come to love from the likes of Elliott Smith, Radiohead, The Calling, Arctic Monkeys and Muse all in one tight perfectly produced package?

The progressive single kicks off with an artfully pensive Indie Rock prelude and allows the rhythmic momentum to slowly build while Wil Harvey’s sticky-sweet vocals become increasingly more adrenalizing.

Before you know it, you’re immersed in an anthemic earworm with massive Indie Rock choruses and you’ll be at the mercy of SOHLER who aren’t shy about throwing curveballs your way in the form of explosive instrumental breakdowns.

SOHLER is a rare up and coming act you can quite easily get obsessed with.

Broken Wireframes- Slow Burn I: rock and electronic intertwine

Broken Wireframes consists of a solo artist from Northern California, recently releasing his new single ‘Slow Burn I’.

Pulling a lot of elements from old school rock, it sounds similar to bands such as Muse, it shares that same element of using electronic styles but keeping the vocals at a low-pitch to give it that rock feel. Broken Wireframes shows that he can offer diversity whilst not being afraid to dive into different styles and combine them together.

It has these slow beats, with the use of acoustic instrumentals which give it this more relaxed sound. But then towards the end the tempo is turned up and the instrumentals begin to get louder as powerful drum beats begin to overpower the vocals.

It is different in so many ways and gives the listeners a variety of unique ways to produce a song that uses such diverse styles like electronic and rock, he’s made something that when you listen you can really feel the music and it makes you feel good.

Chants Would Be A Fine Thing

As alt-rock has become a testosterone fuelled battle ground trying to be the hardest, heaviest and most alternative, one thing has been lost along the way. Melody! No matter what you think of classic rock…the thing that alt-rock inversely defines itself against, you could sing along to it at least. What if a band came along that blended the modern alt musical trappings with the accessibility of music from an older time. Well, The Chance do just that.

Won’t Let You Go sits in a sweet spot for rock music, the tune is memorable, the vocals infectious, and the melodies pass the acid test of lingering in the brain long after the track has finished. But it also has enough modern grit and rough edges to appeal to the black clad modern age rocker. This isn’t alternative rock at all, this is evolved rock, rock music which has learnt the lessons of the past and moulded it to the fashions and tastes of the modern music fan. How hard was that? Consider yourself schooled.

They say that when life hands you lemons you make lemonade. Similarly when life handed Dani Sylvia heartache she made heartachingly beautiful songs. Working towards an album called Tall Tales, a reference to her height, Dark Blue is the latest in a procession of songs which range from the unabashed baring of inner emotions to her frustrations at the world around her, from tear stained honesty to thought provoking questioning.

It comes as no surprise that Dani is a trained dancer and that she has already worked with some big names in the industry from Paloma Faith to Muse, but now is her time to shine and she does so by following a completely individual path. Hers is a journey forged of gentle reflection, wistful regret and loss and longing but also one of optimism and hope and musically she wanders chilled pop landscapes, sensual R&B pathways and silky late night sensuality. Some music is about open celebration and throwaway party vibes, but when you want something more soul searching, emotive and heartfelt, Dani is your go to girl.

After Success In The iTunes Rock Album Charts ZEALS Release ‘READY TO FLY’ EP

Zeals is a 3-piece based in Somerset, England. Their recent EP exudes passion and directness, going for a bright, lush and relatable sound.

The songs featured on their new EP, titled “Ready To Fly”, could be compared to the work of artists as diverse as The Fray, The 1975 with even a hint of Bruno Mars.

Their sound is cheerful and uplifting, yet chock full of beautiful grooves and engaging melodies. This release actually marks the band’s sophomore EP – their second studio work, featuring 5 new songs that offer a very balanced set list, somewhere in between sincere love songs with a mellow tone and unapologetic party songs with bright and wide-open vibes.

Opening track “Feel it” falls right in between these two different approaches, going for a really melodic vibe that still has some poetic lyrics with a romantic flare. The second song on the EP, “Do You Really Care”, is probably my favorite track on this release. I really love the contrast between the sampled beats and the cool guitar sounds, and the brooding, reverberated atmospheres of the song really open up later into the arrangement, making me think of influential acts such as U2 or One Republic, among others.

“Paddles” kicks in with a rocking, incendiary riffs that mark the band’s most vicious effort in this set-list – standing as proof that these guys can rock out if they so choose! This song is dead-on rock and roll with a modern edge, echoing the work of artists such as The Foo Fighters or Muse, but with a catchier approach.

The following song, “Dark Waters” brings the vibes to a more mellow pace, offering a very emotional ballad that stands out as one of the most introspective moments on the entire album. The sparse arrangement really hits the spot.

Last but not least, closing number and title track “Ready To Fly” is a stunning and catchy arena-rock anthem, where the band seemed to be able to take every element they have explored on the various sounds on this EP and put it all into one beautiful song.

This band managed to wrap up a consistently great release, with tons of beautiful melodies, memorable lyrics and amazing grooves – where different genres and ideas collide seamlessly into one another, making for something truly special – this little gem of an EP was recorded over the last few months at Longwave Studios in Cardiff with producer Romesh Dodangoda.

A&R Factory Present: The Rift

Since forming in 2009, The Rift have played alongside the likes of Exodus, Yngwie Malmsteen, The Misfits, and more as well as receiving nominations at the Hollywood Music Awards and Ventura County Music Awards. Now, 2016’s full-length debut INVENTIONS crystallizes their one-two punch of technically intricate instrumentation and hypnotic hard rook hooks evocative of Thirty Seconds To Mars, Stone Temple Pilots and Foo Fighters.

“We wanted to make songs that hit hard, but you can sing along to at the same time,” adds ARIS (vocals/guitar). “Sometimes, we go bluesy-rock and other times there are tinges of punk/metal. We explore different styles while keeping a solid, real sound.”
