3NSTY haunted the trap genre with his latest single, rip/vip

Bringing an eerie baroque, and almost honkytonk, touch to the trap genre is the latest single, rip/vip, from artist and enigma 3NSTY, who has gained a cult following for the resonance in his lyricism that predominantly traverses themes of alienation and depression.

With the horror-esque sound effects atop the artfully dark piano keys beneath his mumbled with relatable malaise rap bars, the track drips visceral melancholy as it ingeniously explores the juxtaposition between the two anacronyms. Anyone with a proclivity towards ennui and dejection will know that the two statuses are equally desirable when you’re psychologically scraping the barrel for serotonin.

Hoolee X asserts his realism in his latest single, I’m Legit

With fame and success comes swathes of cynicism, but here to prove that he is the real deal is the rapper, Hoolee X, with his single, I’m Legit. After learning how to break through in the industry in the rap duo, X boyx, the Miami-based artist applied that to the tactics in his solo career, which is allowing him to become one of the hottest names in the Miami hip hop scene.

Over the chilled yet exotically magnetic instrumentals, the mumble rap bars add to the mellifluous ease of the track, which more than deserves a spot on your summer vibe-out playlists.

MTV Mozey is blazing in his sun-soaked trap track, Designer

Instead of making you wait until summer for a sun-soaked trap drop, the luminary hip hop newcomer, MTV Mozey dropped his high-fire earworm, Designer, while the bitter months were still biting to deliver a much-needed potent dose of aural dopamine.

At 19-years-old, MTV Mozey is already proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the Connecticut hip hop circuit and far beyond. Designer is a riotously infectious track that uses xylophones to deliver the shimmering melodies that arrest the rhythmic pulses as they pop against the trap beats and create a vibrant platform for Mozey’s mellifluous mumble rap bars. He is more than worth the room on any hip hop fan’s radar.

nimonamo delivered a warning in their latest trap track ‘Don’t Waste Time’

Up and coming hip hop artist, nimonamo made their debut in January 2021, they’ve been prolific with their releases ever since. Don’t Waste Time is the fourth single to drop and it’s the best introduction to nimonamo’s melodic trappy style so far.

Soft layers of electronic effect navigate their way around the solid beats laid down by the 808s, creating an inventively textured platform for the vocals which bring nuances of mumble rap into the soundscape – which is no bad thing – but the atmosphere in Don’t Waste Time indicates that nimonamo is an artist with plenty to say, we’d love to get a more potent shot of their introspection in their future releases.

Melt into Quietboy’s soporifically sweet Dream Hop track ‘7’

Lo-fi, subtle, with a pretty ascending musical background of chimes and effected bass backing Quietboy’s vocal, this is hip hop in the style of Future, Lil Tecca, or maybe most-closely, Bladee – all tripping-together flow and autotune vocal effects over chilled, relaxed background. No Boom-Bap stylings or fast, drill-style breaks here, this is laid-back, cool, and mellow, almost trance-like in its chilled-ness.

From Quietboy’s fresh new album ‘Who?’ – thirteen tracks of soft, velvety mellifluous hip hop – this is fresh and airy rap from South Jersey, with a sweet, rounded backing track under Quietboy’s poetic multi-syllabic rhymes and melodic delivery. It’s cool, it’s chill, and yeah, it Quietboy softly lives up to his moniker with a stream of consciousness freestyle delivery and a properly mature sing-song cadence.

MK-Jsav – You Know: Soul-Deep Rhythmically-Fiery Alt Pop Hip Hop

MK-Jsav may have only made their debut a month ago, but they’re already proving to be an aural force to be reckoned with. Their standout single “You Know” is undoubtedly the best introduction to their soul-deep, rhythmically fiery approach to Alt Pop Hip Hop.

Mumble Rap may not be every Hip Hop fan’s cup of tea, but those with a preference for it will find plenty to love in You Know. The almost non-lexical vocals find perfect synergy with the melodically fluid Trap beats which create an atmospheric and emotive track which boasts plenty of urban earworm potential.

IamTheRealSir – Blue Eyes: Intoxicatingly Smooth Mellow Trap

Up and coming Trap artist IamTheRealSir dropped the video to their latest mix “Blue Eyes” on January 23rd. You may want to pay it some attention because Ambient Trap doesn’t often come as tension stripping as this.

Hard-hitting mellow Trap may be fairly rare, yet IamTheRealSir perfectly filled the gap on the airwaves with their intoxicatingly smooth track which will stay with you for long after it has faded out. They may be fresh from their inception, but their style and the ingenuity are equally as fresh. If anyone’s taking notes on how to use vocal reverb and keep the raw human emotion, you’ll want to hit play on Blue Eyes and grab a pen.

ScottySlump – Heavenly: Chillingly Atmospheric Trap

“Heavenly” is just one of the chilling Hip Hop singles which feature on up and coming Hip Hop artist ScottySlump’s recently released EP “Save Yourself”.

Whether it was the deep reverberant baritone deadpan Rap bars or the dark mechanical tonality of the beats, Heavenly almost felt the opposite of its name. But that’s not to say that Heavenly isn’t a mesmeric mix, it just comes with intensely phantasmal atmospherics which are slightly disconcerting.

It is safe to say that we won’t be forgetting ScottySlump’s raw distinctive edge for quite a while, and neither will you if you hit play on Heavenly.
