Race to Neptune – Will the King?: Progressively Arrestive Melodic Alt Rock

https://soundcloud.com/race-to-neptune/will-the-king

Generally, palpitations are kind of a bad thing. Except when they come as a courtesy of rhythmically hypnotic guitar melodies such as you will find in Race to Neptune’s single “Will the King?”

Will the King? is just one of the absorbing tracks to feature on the Fort Collins’ based Indie Alt Rock powerhouse’s latest EP “Share My Frequency”. While I would have been quite happy to listen to the melodic guitar progressions for the whole duration, the evocative vocals kick in after an extended prelude and the instrumentals amp up the momentum. This is where you’ll find Race to Neptune’s tendency to experiment with plenty of distortion and effects on the guitars turning Will the King from a cathartically ambient single into a caustically cutting one. The lyrics and vocals also bring plenty of bite to the soundscape.

Moths in the Attic – Forward: Semi-Orchestral Indie Folk Rock

https://mothsintheattic.bandcamp.com/track/forward

Ohio Alt Indie artist Months in the Attic released their single “Forward” on October 25th. With an incredibly primal feel to the succinctly melodic single, the up and coming artist perceptibly worked hard to surpass the expectations of Alt Rock artists.

While there’s no shortage of semi-orchestral Rock, no artist offers the same artful concordance through the merging of the stylings. In between the fierce experimental progressions is a gentle evocative catharsis which is extremely efficacious in subduing you into an arrestive state of awe.

Moths in the Attic are so much more than an instrumentally talented outfit, their ingenuity registers as unlimitable. Usually, I’d suggest other artists who offer a similar sound, but in Forward, reminiscences are incredibly fleeting. It’s a smorgasbord of complementary elements which gently smashes through genre constraints.

Forward is available to stream and download via Bandcamp.

Heavenly Faded – Constellations: Polished Punchy Ambient Alt Rock

https://soundcloud.com/heavenly-faded/constellations-master-v3/s-bAAa0

Up and coming Ambient Alt Rock artist Heavenly Faded dropped their latest single “Constellations” on November 22nd. If you’re a fan of melodic yet viscerally charged Alt Rock, chances are, you’re going to want to hear it.

Constellations may have that biting Punk tone, but the single also comes with the concordance which you’d expect from a polished Indie Rock track from artists such as Radiohead or the Arctic Monkeys. With the single, the New York-based four-piece not only created a testament to their talent, but they also proved that they’ve got what it takes to create a brand-new trajectory in Alt Rock. Accessible yet raucous tracks don’t come into fruition all too often. I wouldn’t sleep on Heavenly Faded.

Kill Thanatos – Brother Lost: Alchemically Emotive Alt Rock

Alt Rock artist Kill Thanatos has recently released their fourth single “Brother Lost”. If you’ve lost faith in your search for truly distinctive contemporary Rock music, you’ll quickly come to realise that Brother Lost comes with a whole host of restorative powers.

After a doom-laden prelude, the tender, evocative vocals were introduced, if you weren’t already captivated, this is the perfect time to surrender all consciousness to the overwhelmingly atmospheric aural alchemy which Kill Thanatos orchestrated.

Through clean vocals, being transfixed by the lyrical narrative is practically non-optional. The vocals amplify the emotive sting as they rest against Heavy Rock instrumentals while keeping the notes poised and magnetically pensive.

While you’ll find plenty of Rock bands being able to offer a tight arrangement, Kill Thanatos combine their technical skill with true candid expression and a melody which may very well come to be your new melancholic Rock earworm.

Colman – Hollywood Florida: Anachronistically Arrestive Melodic Rock

Any fans of Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Neil Young are sure to appreciate the magnetically mellifluous Indie Rock single “Hollywood Florida” from up and coming artist Colman.

Colman has got the anachronistic aural chemistry down to a tee with his simple, stripped bare and unadulterated melodies which sit in perfect synergy with his poised, pained, arrestive vocals. The New York-based artist’s lyrical style ensures that with Hollywood Florida you’re treated to plenty of striking imagery which will ensure that right from the first verse you are hooked into the chilling narrative. It’s not until the track fades out that you become aware that you were in almost hypnotic state listening to the tentative progressions of the single. There’s plenty of use of spatial effect to ensure that you are hanging onto every candid word.
