Adversity matches the ominous tone of 2021 with their latest single ‘What He About’

‘What He About’ is the latest lyrically led feat of hip hop from up and coming artist, Adversity who can easily match the meter of Eminem while asserting their authenticity into their rap bars.

There may be an element or two of old school in the mix, but the spacey interstellar hit, What He About crash-landed on the airwaves in the new wave trap arena. With confrontational lyrics over a bed of atmospherically layered beats which match the ominous tone of 2021, your entire consciousness will be consumed by this wit-fuelled hard hitter.

What He About is now available to stream via Spotify.

F S Rudy delivers grit and grind in equal measure with their self-apathy-dissolving rap single ‘Straighten Up’

F S Rudy’s recently released rap album ‘Hood Vaccine’ has the potential to become the second most-talked about vaccine in 2021. The dominant lyrically-led old school hip hop album features eight assertively awakening singles, including the lead track, ‘Straighten Up’ featuring HoneyKomb Brazy.

Straighten Up delivers grit and grind in equal measure. If you can find self-apathy within yourself after hearing the track run through, you may as well declare yourself a lost cause. F S Rudy is to hip hop what Jordan Peterson is to podcasts. Any true fans of 80s Hip Hop will want F S Rudy on their radar.

Lyrical rap luminary CIV delivers adrenalizing gritty poetry in ‘Hero’

There’s clever lyrical wordplay, then there’s the fiercely meta linguistic tussling which you’ll find in the Bronx, NY-hailing rap artist, CIV’s latest album ‘Glitched Tapes Vol.1’.

Wit and intellect run rampant through each single, but the perfect introduction to CIV’s relentlessly ingenious style is ‘Hero’.

Energetic beats which marry old school gangster rap with contemporary electronic hip hop blaze behind the bars which are a gift which keeps on giving. Hero is a track which you’ll want to hit play on until you know the lyrics well enough not to let them catch you off-guard with the gritty, clever charisma-dripping creativity.

On the basis of Hero, I can’t imagine that CIV gets invited to all too many rap battles through fear of annihilation.

Breakfast time gets Dangerous(X) with Honey Nut Cheerios

https://soundcloud.com/dangerousx/honey-nut-cheerios-prod-wydstepbro

Lighthearted, sample-filled, with a non-stop flow that’s in your face from start to finish, ‘Honey Nut Cheerios’ is 1’18” of ‘statement of intent’ hip hop from DangerousX, all rapid-fire hi hat triplets and thunderous bass kick behind DangerousX’s aural assault.

Sure, there’s an Eminem/Shady vibe going on, the lyrical content turning slights into ‘rap-fuel’ in the way Marshall Mathers does so well, spitting out put-downs over the heavyweight backing. Sadly, it’s over too quickly, but ‘Honey Nut Cheerios’ shows some real promise here; keep an eye out for DangerousX – who knows where he’ll end up.

RYN SCOTT delivers white-knuckle rapid flows in their latest Hip Hop track ‘WHAT’S POPPIN’

Detroit-based trailblazer RYN SCOTT may not share the same acclaim as the likes of Eminem, Tech N9ne, Busta Rhymes, or Twista (yet), but one thing he does have in common with the aforementioned artists is their ability to wax lyrical.

Lock into RYN SCOTT’s rap bars in the remix of their fervent track, ‘WHAT’S POPPIN’, and you’re in for a white-knuckle ride as the relentlessly rapid bars roll through their witty ingenuity. With lines as heavy and poignant as ‘so many people wearing a mask over the ones they already have’ and the sheer volition projected into the production, hitting confirms that RYN SCOTT is one to watch.

Mic Hamm sends an invitation to feel with their forthcoming evocatively deep release ‘Pain’

Mic Hamm

Written in response to deep personal tragedy, Mic Hamm’s ‘Pain’ is an intimate, emotionally deep Hip Hop track, all fast flow vocal, rolling piano part, and thumping programmed 808 drum beats. It’s a classy single, dealing with loss, heartbreak, the breakup of a relationship, death, and disappointment, all the while musically well-constructed, overlapping rapped vocals sitting atop soft mellow piano and trappy beats.

Hamm’s sing-song lyrical style and confessional poetic vocal carry the track, the underlying beats and keyboards adding depth and grace and sophistication. ‘Pain’ might have come from a dark, low place, but there’s clearly much, much better things on the horizon for Mic Hamm.

You’ll have to wait a little bit longer before you can check out Pain for yourselves. In the meantime, head over to SoundCloud and check out the artist’s former releases.

Let Neza take you to school with his authoritatively adrenalizing Hip Hop track ‘Class-N-Session’

‘Genius’ isn’t a word I like to bound around a lot, but there is no adjective more apt when it comes to describing US Rap artist Neza and their explosive, witty and effortlessly charismatic sound.

Their latest album ‘My Imaginary Reality’ is a solid offering of meta urban alchemy which not-so-gently disturbs the complacency of your psyche by reminding you that none of your memories are real and your experience in life is entirely subjective.

The standout track, Class-N-Session, is the perfect introduction to Neza’s mischievously adrenalizing approach to Hip Hop. With a rap flow which could rival Butah Rhymes and their expansive multi-layered instrumentals which make it clear that there are very few constraints on Neza’s expression, it’s hard not to get excited about this artist’s potential. Hitting play on Class-N-Session instantly pays off, you’d be hard-pressed to find another contemporary artist who throws themselves into their mixes as viscerally as Neza.

You can check out Class-N-Session for yourselves by heading over to Spotify.

Jozondi waxes lyrical to stylistically ensnaring beats with ‘Broken Halos’

From the new album ‘Boy In The Iceberg’, Jozondi’s new track ‘Broken Halos’ is a chilled, mellow trappy little hip hop number led by a beautiful repeating sampled guitar line and gated handclaps and snare patterns all sitting beneath Jozondi’s laid back vocal.

Ladled with T-Pain-style autotune, Jozondi’s vocal drips with West Coast style and easygoing, unhurried lyrical flow, the cleanly balanced in-and-out style sitting snugly atop the backing track, sing-song and poetic over the rolling bass and guitar.

You can hear Jozondi’s ‘Boy In The Iceberg’ album, and ‘Broken Halos’, on Spotify. Follow Jozondi on Instagram and Twitter.

Taurean Meacham – Checks Over Stripes feat Aka J. Gatsby

Checks Over Stripes is the latest mantra-filled track from Hip Hop newcomer Taurean Meacham featuring Aka J. Gatsby which pays ode to 80s Hip Hop while bringing introspective wisdom that anyone in 2020 will be humbled by.

The steady rhythmic grind runs through at an arresting pace to allow each syllable to sink in and resonate as Taurean Meacham commands that you stay real, forget the hype and “do it for the love, not the likes”. Every artist needs this groundingly ensnaring track on their playlists. The beats are the hypnotic and the lyrics are practically prophetic.
