Bruno Jauregui’s Traditional Mexican Single, Cómo Te Lo Digo, is A Stunning Release of Serotonin

Bruno Jauregui, an artist rooted in Michoacán’s heritage, has rewritten the potential of Regional Mexican music after only a few months in the spotlight. With over 100k streams across platforms—50k in the first month—he’s already proven that earnest storytelling and modern invention can coalesce in impactful ways.

His latest single, Cómo Te Lo Digo, became one of 2024’s most effervescently upbeat productions by freeing expressive inhibitions and weaving intricate layers of sound into every corner of its arrangement.

Expect more than just Spanish guitars strumming in well-worn patterns; this track embraces folk elements to break any lingering monocultural mould. Its meticulously vibrant construction creates a textural depth, while the iridescent vocal lines brim with soul. There’s an unmistakable sense of Bruno’s dedication as each note reverberates with both tradition and fresh perspective. He refuses to settle for the expected, choosing instead to let these diverse influences flourish until they feel as natural as sunlight.

If you want to serenade yourself with the sound of eternal summer, sink into Cómo Te Lo Digo, a stunning release of serotonin (literally and figuratively).

Cenzontle’s fusionist sound is sweeter than ‘Nectar’ in their latest seminal Latin folk release.

After enchanting audiences under the GlowStone Leaf Orchestra banner and producing 13 albums that weave a tapestry of profound narratives and complex harmonies, the delectably talented Berlin-based artist, Jorge Hernandez, who has been honing his rhythmic and raconteurial crafts for over a decade stepped into a new ensemble when he assembled the three-piece Cenzontle with Lucie Nana and Kim Kong in 2019.

Monikers don’t come much more apt than Cenzontle, which translates to “400 voices”; it is a nod to the Mexican heritage of Hernandez and the multi-layered essence of his work, which breaks the monocultural mould while proving music is a universal language.

The eponymous LP, which hit the airwaves earlier this year is an opportunity for immersion in a captivating fusion of traditional Latin American Folk and electrifying Rock, delivered with a digital twist. Whether you delve into the vibrant recording or witness the emotional and innovative depth via the live performance of the standout single, ‘Nectar’, you’re sure to be stirred by the spiritually transcendent experience which solidifies Cenzontle’s position at the forefront of genre-bending music exploration.

Emma Hunter contested the heteronormative hegemony in her latest single, Love is Not a Choice

With the hypnotic grace of medieval mystic, Oxford’s Emma Hunter demonstrated that there’s nothing unnaturalistic about deviating from the heteronormative hegemony with her latest single, Love is Not a Choice.

Queerness may seem like a modern phenomenon, especially in the vision of those desperate to stand on the neck of progression, equality, and acceptance. Yet, even the most bigoted view is bound to widen to the tune of Hunter’s signature flamenco guitar loops, art-rock percussion and arcane vocal layering.

The musicality that takes you on an intercontinental sonic trip runs at the same celestial level as the intrinsic sense of spirituality in the rhythmically arrestive production. Which once again sees Emma Hunter resisting the contemporary constraints of genre.

The official video for Love is Not a Choice, directed by Matt Trevor-Roper, premiered on July 8th. Check it out via YouTube.

Surrender to Javier Jara’s Latin American Folk Serenade, Ranchera Falaz

Ecuador native, Javier Jara, put his music degree in classical guitar performance to jaw-dropping use in his standout Latin American folk single, Ranchera Falaz.

The rich and sonorous serenade carries enough euphonic beguile to almost resonate as haunting, but it’s never all too long before the next progressive shift dips you into a new emotional connection with the acoustic single. The intuitively picked guitar notes and emotionally eloquent Latin folk vocals resound powerfully enough to rival a 100-piece orchestra.

Currently, Javier is a member of the Latin Artist Access Program at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) in Austin, TX. Javier was recently selected as a finalist in Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk Competition.

Ranchera Falalz is now available to stream on SoundCloud.
