The Muldoons – Lovely Things: Quintessentially Concordant Jangle Pop

If you’re a little bit like me and now get (even more) depressed whilst listening to Morrissey thanks to his recent assimilation into Nigel Farage you’ll want something sweet and melancholic to fill the Morrissey gap. Well, look no further than the Muldoons. Their New Wave Indie track Lovely Things carries the same Jangle Pop quintessence with the soaring, popping concordant intricacy of the guitar melodies. As for the vocals, they carry the sweet New Romantic vibe which any fans of Robert Smith are sure to appreciate.

The Paisley, Scotland based powerhouse of stylised instrumentalists put together such a synergised progression that you don’t really get the option of listening to Lovely Things the captivating essence which bleeds through the rhythm and pretty much pours straight through you. Hell, it might even be janglier than this charming man. I can’t wait to hear what the Muldoons cook up next, with their ability to create the sharpest hooks it would be almost criminal not to see a studio album produced soon.

Luna Waves – Mystery Loves Co.: The Seamless Fluidity of Reverb-Soaked Jangle Pop

If there’s anything I love more than a fabulous play on words, it’s a resoundingly arresting offering of a sound that could be loosely described as Post Punk; but honestly it’s so much more.

If the palpably piercing, reverb-soaked melodies contained within Luna Wave’s latest track Mystery Loves Co. doesn’t move you, I’d probably check if you still have a pulse. The upbeat Jangle Pop riffs carry right through the progression of the track which flows with seamless fluidity. Whilst I adored the vocals I would love to hear a little less restraint through Luna Waves’ (AKA Rob Muir) future vocal offerings.

Mystery Loves Co. is just the first aural offering Luna Waves has in store for 2018, you can expect the debut album release of Seafoam Dream (Part 1) on July 27th, 2018.

If you’re a fan of The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, the Smiths or Interpol you’ll almost certainly want to make Luna Waves debut single Mystery Loves Co a major feature of your playlists. Head on over to Spotify where you can check out the instrumentally flawless offering of resonant Post Punk for yourselves.

Fermine – Paradojas en la luna: Spanish Jangle Pop Exists, And It’s Beautiful

Paradojas en la luna is the latest single from the divinely talented collective of Spanish artist’s known as Fermine. With no hint of exaggeration, they may be the happiest, liveliest powerhouse of instrumentalists I’ve ever heard. The amount of energy that the guitar packs into it’s punches is almost otherworldly. Preludes which pack in that much momentum are pretty hard to come by, naturally I was hyped before the track even ran through it’s first verse.

If you’re wondering what Paradojas en la luna translates to in English it’s ‘Paradoxes on the Moon’ I can only imagine that the rest of the lyrics are as poignantly brilliant as the title to the track. The riffs are probably beyond anything I’ve ever heard before (and yes that’s coming from a Johnny Marr fan), they may not be the most technical riffs ever composed but the amount of palpable energy which bleeds from each and every note creates a high-vibe resonance which makes it fairly impossible to sit still.

You can check out Fermine’s beautifully jangly track which was released on May 26th, 2018 on YouTube now.
