JANAYAH

JANAYAH balanced power and vulnerability in her neo-classic pop ballad, Back to You

After JANAYAH stormed our radar with her single, ‘Can’t Get Enough,’ we knew she had her forte in high-octane pop earworms. With her latest release, ‘Back to You,’ she defied all expectations while straying from the trend of breathy, emotionally void pop ballads. This stripped-back outpour of candour sees JANAYAH laying her soul bare over near-frantic, intricately sharp neo-classical piano keys that skilfully underscore her powerhouse vocals.

The achingly sublime track explores the turmoil of trying to emotionally disconnect from a relationship once it has ended, while the mind, in its relentless tenacity, continues to chart paths back ‘home’, even when the door is firmly closed.

With roots in Auckland, New Zealand, and a growing career in London, JANAYAH has shown her versatility across multiple genres, from pop and rock to dance and DnB. Her latest single is a stark departure from her previous work, such as the EDM-infused ‘Remedy’ and the dancefloor-driven ‘Nothing To Lose’. ‘Back to You’ serves as a testament to her vocal power and ability to channel raw emotion into her music.

Currently working on her debut EP, JANAYAH is undoubtedly on a trajectory to becoming a household name. Her powerful live performances and ability to connect with audiences have already earned her significant acclaim, including features on the iconic Piccadilly Lights and a recent set at Trafalgar Square. If ‘Back to You’ is anything to go by, we can expect her forthcoming releases to be just as phenomenal.

Back to You was officially released on August 30th; stream the single on Spotify.

Flames of funk and soul lick JANAYAH’s latest indie rock earworm, Can’t Get Enough

Janayah’s latest rhythmic revelation, Can’t Get Enough, mainlines funk-licked soul into indie rock euphoria through a filter of ’60s and ’70s nostalgia to breathe life into timeless tonality.

Born and raised in Auckland and now based in London, Janayah has graced stages from a tender age and has left lasting impressions with her dynamic live performances. Her sophomore single, imbued with the raw vocal power of Christina Aguilera with moments that oscillate back to old-school soul around rhythmically magnetic melodies is an embodiment of her soul-rock fortitude.

The single, which testifies to the insatiability of desire, showcases her signature style that crosses boundaries from pop to rock and dance, with each genre succumbing to the weight of her powerful vocals. Her previous works, including collaborations with EDM artists and features in prominent music venues, have all paved the way for this riveting return to her roots.

Ironically, every note in Can’t Get Enough promises to leave Janayah’s audience wanting more from the one-woman powerhouse.

Can’t Get Enough was officially released on July 12; stream the single on Spotify now.

JANAYAH & Marcus Wiles brought euphoria to the dancefloor with their liberating EDM anthem, NOTHING TO LOSE

With their tantamount talent, the debut single, NOTHING TO LOSE, from the emerging vocalist and lyricist JANAYAH and EDM producer Marcus Wiles, who are both enrolled in the prestigious BRIT School in London studying music and production, respectively, is a radio-ready affirmation that whether they’re honing their collaborative chemistry or going solo, they’ll both have an illustrious career ahead of them.

The way the tension and emotion-fraught stabs of piano keys under JANAYAH’s stridently pitch-perfect vocals lead up to a mind-bendingly liberating drum n bass-drenched EDM crescendo signed, sealed, and delivered a promising future for the duo.

Their reverence for EDM and ability to emanate the same meticulous song-crafting flair as the likes of Calvin Harris, 3LAU, ChrisLake, Joel Corry, David Guetta, and Tiesto, will leave you on a knife edge as sharp as the hooks.

Once the monolithic momentum grips you, you’ll be at the mercy of the powerhouse duo. We can’t wait to hear the sophomore release after getting to grips with the transcendent debut, which could easily be considered the strongest EDM debut in 2023.

NOTHING TO LOSE is now available to stream on Spotify.
