SadHappyRabbit – That’s Alright featuring Lil Ringey

Before we escaped 2020, SadHappyRabbit released their pessimistically-titled debut album ‘We’re Fucked’, which may flirt with nihilism, but the essence of the Portland-hailing artist’s sound unequivocally lies in their refreshing candid vulnerability.

The standout track, ‘That’s Alright’, which was created in collaboration with Lil Ringey is the perfect introduction to SadHappyRabbit’s unique marrying of Indie Hip Hop and Emo Rap. Anyone who has a proclivity for morosity – especially in the presence of romantic disparity will find plenty of resonance in the single.

Yes, the lyrics are dark, but darkness and romanticism have come hand in hand ever since Shakespeare started doing his thing, and this barbed depiction of painful romantic duality is just as efficacious at evoking strong emotion as Hamlet.

There’s no room to wonder why SadHappyRabbit has been able to amass so much hype since making their debut in 2020. Their fearlessness when it comes to lyrical honesty is practically unparalleled.

Sweet Roddy – ‘Snakes’: Chilled, Laid Back Hip Hop.

https://music.apple.com/us/album/snakes-single/1523816608

‘Snakes’ starts with a delicious little solo keyboard part, before Sweet Roddy’s vocal kicks in in a wash of East Coast auto-tune, the ‘snakes’ refrain separate from the verse, and defined by it. The lyrics tell of a cheating girlfriend. It’s an age-old tale; boy meets girl, girl hooks up with another guy for ice-cold drinks in the club, girl sends other guy photos…you know the story.

Musically, it’s pretty chilled, laid-back trap; instrumentally, there’s a Yelawolf vibe, maybe a little Post Malone, the main vocal front and centre, the chorus more sing-song and lyrical. It’s poppy, pretty of-the-moment, kind of melancholy and posturing all at once. Isn’t that an age old story, too?

KiDD RicH sets a hazy lustful scene in their latest release “2am”

There’s been plenty of hype around breaking Hip Hop artist KiDD RicH since they made their debut with the single “Comfortable” in 2019. On the heels of their successful singles, they’ve dropped their debut album “The Statement, Vol. 1”.

The track which especially caught our attention with its hazy indulgent tones was 2am, a tale of nocturnal lust which won’t fail to instil the amorous vibes. The lust is inscribed in the sultry, light and melodic Indie Trap beats. They’re also found within KiDD RicH’s soft and mellifluous vocals which project plenty of emotion into the track as they verse the deeply introspective lyrics.

From the first verse, you’re immersed in the scene which KiDD RicH sets with the warm summer tones. You practically feel an increase in the temperature when you hit play.

You can check out 2am along with the rest of KiDD RicH’s debut album for yourselves by heading over to Spotify.

Prepare Your Vibeout Playlists for Swaine’s Soulful Catharsis-Spilling Mix CANYON INTERLUDE

https://soundcloud.com/swainesworld/canyon-interlude-prod-elkvio

Canadian artist Swaine dropped their latest hazy vibeout album DUNES on April 30th. You might want to prepare your vibe out RnB Hip Hop playlists for the mellow catharsis-spilling tracks right about now.

While each of the tracks is a soulfully expressive connectable mix, there’s no better introduction to Swaine’s accessibly sweet style than CANYON INTERLUDE. Within the layers of the mix which was deftly produced by elkvio you’ll find nuances of Lo-Fi Hip Hop, Trap, Indie, and Soul giving the track universal appeal. And with the lyrics unravelling like Urban poetry, you’d be hard-pressed to find a Hip Hop mix which parallels the amount of soul, ingenuity, and style.

Wyatt Roberts – Hate My Friends: Genre-Crushing Urban Alt Indie

Indie RnB Soul Pop artist Wyatt Roberts dropped their latest album “Hate My Friends” on January 3rd and made RnB Pop more melodic than ever.

You’ll hear plenty of urban/alternative crossover tracks on the airwaves already, yet Wyatt Roberts has firmly put his own infectiously sweet stamp down on in true pioneering style.

While each track is as evocatively captivating as the last, there’s no better introduction than the title track. The title track will allow you to imagine what Simple Plan would have sounded like if they incorporated Indie Post Punk, and RnB Trap into their sound. And that may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s easy to see that there will be plenty of Alt Pop fans who see the ingenuity which has been weaved into Hate My Friends.

While it feels like Hate My Friends would have been a stronger track if the lyrics ran a little cleaner. It’s still an incredible track which I’d recommend to anyone who is always o the lookout for something a little different to add to their playlists.

You can check out Hate My Friends via Spotify and iTunes.

P3G Trap – Drippin My Stain: Unapologetically Fresh Indie Trap

Whether you love or hate mumble rap, there’s no denying that P3G Trap’s latest drop Drippin My Stain is as fresh as it gets in the Hip Hop arena. Whilst in points it felt that there was a little too much going on in the mix to keep up with the lyrical flow (or the beat for that matter), you were still sucked into the chaos of the mix and the admiration of P3G Trap’s relentless rap flow.

The momentum that the track carries is almost dizzying, and the South Carolina based indie artist’s ability to create so much hype stands as testament to the artist stylishly resounding talent when it comes to Hip Hop.

How they managed to pull the multi-layered beats together is almost beyond comprehension, yet, I’m assuming it had a lot to do with producer 706Hitz’ deft touch, every pitch sat at the perfect level to allow each impounding beat to almost leave you feeling bruised.

You can check out P3G Trap’s latest single Drippin My Stain which dropped June 17th for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud now.
