Jules Marie has released her relatable indie pop track ‘Bulletproof’

Philly-hailing singer-songwriter Jules Marie has garnered plenty of hype since releasing her debut single in 2020. After the release of her latest single, Bulletproof, it is hard to see how anything could get in the way of her trajectory to the top. Her accessible girl next door vibes mixed with her infectiously empowered attitude in Bulletproof was discernibly a recipe for success. Not only is she an artist that you can be in awe of, but she is also an artist that you can relate to.

Instrumentally, Bulletproof is a smooth and stylish feat of indie pop, while Jules Marie pulls nuances of RnB into the mix in true 90s and 00s pop style. Any fans of Nelly Furtado, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson and Natasha Bedingfield will definitely want to pay attention to the artist that has already racked up 100k streams on Spotify alone.

Bulletproof is now available to stream via Spotify.

Justin Adijanto – ‘Ctrl Alt Delete’ featuring Jessica Gelinas and Voel

Justin Adijanto, Jessica Gelinas and Voel’s latest collaborative 3-track single, ‘Ctrl Alt Delete’, practically lays out the welcome mat to make you feel right at home in the immersive indie RnB pop release.

The radio-ready singles, produced by Jakarta-born producer Justin Adijanto, ooze contemporary appeal by toying with moody and muddy tones and nestling shimmering synths in between. With the RnB infusion manifesting through Jessica and Voel’s vocals and instrumentally through the funk-laden grooves, the potency of the soul parallels the infectiousness of the melodies. The standout track has to be, ‘Crazy’; a highly relatable admission of the mania that comes to the surface when it comes to romantic disparity.

Ctrl Alt Delete is now available to stream via Spotify.

Alt-Indie Pop artist Luvelle bares all in ‘Scrapbook Thoughts’

‘Scrapbook Thoughts’, featuring JERHELL, is the unapologetically honest lead track from up and coming Melbourne-hailing indie artist Luvelle’s debut EP, Scrapbook, which brings intimate emotion animated by RnB Pop to the airwaves.

With plenty of choral delay laid onto the guitars as they cut through the grooving progressions that bring hints of contemporary RnB into the mix, Scrapbook Thoughts unfolds as a tonally mellow, evocatively strident track that you’re unlikely to forget in a hurry.

At the age of 16-years-old, Luvelle is already proving he has what it takes to take the industry by storm. Scrapbooks may be a lo-fi release, but with his charisma, candid lyricism and accessible experimental sound, he’s a triple threat.

Luvelle’s debut EP, Scrapbooks, is now available to stream via Spotify.

Take it slow with Imogen’s hazy RnB pop track, ‘Silhouettes’.

Breaking pop artist Imogen put her classical training to use once again with her almost Carnatic RnB-infused single, ‘Silhouettes’.

The length of your attention span becomes irrelevant once you hit play on Silhouettes and are introduced to her harmonic command combined with the hazy romantic beats that leave plenty of room for the magnetic field which emanates around her subtle and demure vocal timbre.

Each of the songwriter and pianist’s tracks reflects a different facet of love passion and freedom and allows the listener to experience it through aesthetic phenomenon. It’s easy to see why she’s been able to put leagues between her artfully astute approach to production and other up and coming artists.

Silhouettes is now available to stream via Spotify.

Alt RnB Pop artist Srujanika has made her debut with ‘Rags to Riches’

Srujanika

Tokyo-based singer-songwriter Srujanika has made her 2020 debut with the Alt R n’ B Pop single ‘Rags to Riches’ which squirms free from the constraints of archetypal R n’ B and runs through in a truly authentic style.

The self-proclaimed Queen of Darkness poured plenty of moody alchemy into the track which was penned to revere anyone who has succeeded in the quest for success, despite adversity. In a society where the rich, powerful and famous are mindlessly applauded, Srujanika offers a nuanced view that success lies in the journey.

Her unapologetically bold style may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but Rags to Riches poured straight out of the soul to suit acquired tastes and people who don’t mind raw and direct intimacy in their tracks.

Rags to Riches which was released on December 15th is now available to stream and download via Bandcamp.

Mariposa Extension Number has made an evocatively fierce Alt Pop debut with their EP “Guru”

If all debut releases impressed us as much as 17-year-old artist Mariposa Extension Number’s, he’d have some serious competition. But as it happens, the amount of intense aural alchemy in their debut EP “Guru” was practically unparalleled.

For me, the marks of a great artist will always be how much passion they project into their soundscapes and how unapologetically bold they were when offering a brand-new sound. There are stamps of approval all over the artists unique and artful infusion of Electronica, Pop and RnB.

It evocatively stings, but stylistically, you couldn’t ask for a more ahead of the curve debut. Don’t just watch this space, jump on this incredible release and get Mariposa Extension Number on your radar as I’m sure it won’t be the last experimentally mesmeric record from them. They’re definitely one to watch.

Omari lays down the easy melodic grooves in her debut single “Gameboy”

Many RnB artists like to play it safe with their lyricism and end up saying what has been said a thousand times before. Refreshingly, Melbourne artist Omari poured plenty of bold sentiments on the airwaves with her debut single “Gameboy”.

The Indie RnB Pop single has an engaging narrative lyrical style through which Omari assassinates the character of the unworthy waster which inspired Gameboy. Hearing the realisation of Omari’s self-worth in the single which packs in sublimely melodic grooves becomes an empowering aural experience. I can only imagine what it felt like to write it.

Even though you’ll hear plenty of the roots of Soul and RnB within Gameboy, there’s no understating the fresh evocative appeal behind the production. Despite the RnB vibe, it’s safe to say fans of Kate Nash and Florence and the Machine will quickly become enamoured by Omari’s stunning beyond definition vocals.

Nicole Leaskk is due to release her fiercely empowering RnB Pop hit “Tough Love”

Nicole Leaskk

In her upcoming single “Tough LoveNicole Leaskk proves that soul and attitude can sit hand in hand. The lyrics may contain fractures of melancholy, yet her empowering air takes this RnB Soul Pop track to the next level.

Rather than offering the usual lovelorn wistfulness, Nicole Leaskk created a track which inspires you to push away any pensive thoughts which tempt you to believe that you should beat yourself up following a hard break up.

If candidly fierce and inspiring tracks such as Tough Love were more prevalent on the airwaves, I have no doubt that plenty of more people would exude the same self-respect which Nicole Leaskk did while writing Tough Love.

With her refreshing approach to lyricism, distinctively soul-spilling vocals and the radio-ready production on the Jazz-infused RnB Pop instrumentals, Tough Love isn’t a release which you’ll want to miss out on.

You’ll have to wait a little longer before you can check out Tough Love for yourselves. In the meantime, you can check out Nicole Leaskk’s earlier releases on SoundCloud and follow her via Facebook to keep up to date with future releases.

Wyatt Roberts – Hate My Friends: Genre-Crushing Urban Alt Indie

Indie RnB Soul Pop artist Wyatt Roberts dropped their latest album “Hate My Friends” on January 3rd and made RnB Pop more melodic than ever.

You’ll hear plenty of urban/alternative crossover tracks on the airwaves already, yet Wyatt Roberts has firmly put his own infectiously sweet stamp down on in true pioneering style.

While each track is as evocatively captivating as the last, there’s no better introduction than the title track. The title track will allow you to imagine what Simple Plan would have sounded like if they incorporated Indie Post Punk, and RnB Trap into their sound. And that may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s easy to see that there will be plenty of Alt Pop fans who see the ingenuity which has been weaved into Hate My Friends.

While it feels like Hate My Friends would have been a stronger track if the lyrics ran a little cleaner. It’s still an incredible track which I’d recommend to anyone who is always o the lookout for something a little different to add to their playlists.

You can check out Hate My Friends via Spotify and iTunes.
