Wohn delivers a sonic blast of alt-90s nostalgia in his scorching hot alt-rock single, Junjito.

Up and coming alternative artist, Wohn has released his relatable EP, Waiting for Life to Happen; the lead track, Junjito, is an arresting amalgamation of shoegaze, post-punk and garagey psych-rock that any fans of the alt-90s will want in their ears.

After a shoegazy prelude, the mostly instrumental release starts to centre around the artist’s ability to lay down riffs at blistering speed and his ability to make a soundscape fraught with tumultuous tension with his over-driven angular lead work.

After an ebb in the veracious momentum, the pensive vocals make an eerily captivating appearance before Wohn lays down a scorching-hot, seemingly endless solo that is leagues apart from other contemporary alternative artists. We truly can’t rate Wohn highly enough. He not only evokes angsty grungy 90s nostalgia, but he also puts a visceral signature spin on it. We can’t wait to hear more of in the future.

Takar Nabam – A Crime: Transcendentally Sweet Sun-Soaked Alt-Soul

Indian Singer-songwriter and composer, Takar Nabam, is set to unleash their genre-defying transcendentally sweet single ‘A Crime’ on the airwaves, for your own sake, hit play on this soul-filling winter warmer.

Elements of Funk, Reggae, Soul, Pop and Indie all meld in the entrancing soundscape which won’t fail to arrest your rhythmic pulses as you listen to the woozy sun-soaked tones effervescing under Takar Nabam’s vocals which will serenade any fans of John Mayer and Steven Wilson.

Not only is A Crime a discernibly radio-ready single. It also packs in enough nuance and virtuosity to appease any serious guitar-led-music aficionados. Guitar Magazine recognised Takar Nabam as one of the top 5 guitar players in 2020, we’re seriously inclined to agree.

M.O.S. 73 Project pays ode to 80s soul with their guitar-driven serenade ‘Don’t Speak to Me’

After a successful 2020 debut, Italian guitarist and compositor under the moniker of M.O.S. 73 Project released their third soul-infused indie rock single ‘Don’t Speak to Me’. The track title may set you up for confrontation and dejection, but it contrasts the amorous soundscape which carries the same passion as tracks by Seal, Beck and Billy Ocean.

With elements of old school rock and soul spilling from fresh talent, you’ll be simultaneously hit with nostalgia and awe at the virtuosic modernistic prowess which seems so effortlessly exuded by M.O.S. 73 Project.

If you don’t feel something when you hit play, you may be dead from the soul down.

Neal Gray invites you to drift into ‘A Beautiful Slumber’ with their ambient shoegaze single

Whatever your views on guitar music are, cast them aside before you hit play on the latest cinematically lush instrumental release ‘A Beautiful Slumber’ from US singer-songwriter Neal Gray.

With the same spacious soul-twistingly sweet tones as found in Slowdive’s most sedately compelling singles, the soundscape is absorbing from the first hit. The influence of Neil Halstead’s reticent yet ardently evocative quiescent guitar-style is more than palpable, but A Beautiful Slumber is so much more than just a feat of assimilation.

Neal Gray held back on the distortion and abrasive sonic effects to create a transcendent soundscape which is beguiling and cathartic in equal measure.

In a time where tranquillity is hard to come by, I sincerely recommend Neal Gray’s tracks as a staple for your playlists.
