Falling Below tore through the façade of fallacy-weavers in their alt-metal debut, Liar

The Nottingham alt-metal emissaries in the freshly constructed powerhouse Falling Below are set to storm the local scene and beyond with their ground-breaking debut single, Liar.

Following a dissonant prelude, the tight and technical instrumentals start to breed an electrifying disquiet atmosphere for the evocative alt-metal vocal lines to charge into. Building on the iconic 00s metal sound, the amalgam of melodicism and furore that lies within Liar will leave you eating out of the palm of the five-piece’s hand.

There hasn’t been this much contempt thrown at living and breathing fallacies since Godsmack tore them to shreds with their single, I Fucking Hate You. With the guitars sharing as much vitriol as the lyrics and the sweet release of catharsis in the anthemic chorus, Liar is one of the strongest (in every conceivable way) debuts we’ve heard this year.

We can’t wait for the forthcoming eponymous debut EP, which promises to indomitably find the perfect balance between despair and hope to provide a soundtrack of resilience.

Skin 17 – The Heart That Will Not Start

The 90s-inspired alt-rock outfit Skin 17 started in Scotland and regenerated in Japan before finding a new base in London, where Andrew Cockburn found the home place of his sophomore album, Lighting your way by the bridges that you burn. The timely record takes inspiration from the likes of the Cure, NIN and Smashing Pumpkins, but leaves plenty of room for originality.

With snarled lyrics navigating lament and the even angstier guitars and percussion that could easily allow a pit to open it, the lead single, The Heart That Will Not Start allows pain to cohabit with anger in the fiery tumultuous release that carries hints of 70 punk alongside swathes of grungy nuance.

Instrumentally, you’ll find reminiscence to Disturbed, Driving Pool and Godsmack, while vocally, you can expect plenty of Social Distortion-style scathing yet vulnerable emotion.

Rise in Veins – UNSAID: Hook-Filled Melodic Hard Rock

‘UNSAID’ is the latest sonically infectious track from Canadian Hard Rock artist Rise in Veins, the verses may be filled with caustic momentum, but when the chorus hits, the melodicism of the scathingly high-energy release takes hold.

Rise in Veins succeeded in layering a dark gritty sense of despondency within their sound while providing an upbeat anthem to find catharsis within. UNSAID both validates and absolves frustration as the compassionately commanding vocals run through against the tight synergy of the instrumentals; definitively proving that the Hard Rock powerhouse is a force to be reckoned with.

Any fans of Godsmack, Drowning Pool and Seether are definitely going to want to pay Rise in Veins some attention. Their signature take on hard rock is exactly what the airwaves needs in 2021. It’s visceral and ardent enough to shatter any sense of ennui which you may find yourself in before you hit play.
