A&R Factory Present: Hooked Like Helen

Nikki and Jonathan Stipp, the husband-and-wife musicians that comprise Hooked like Helen, have been holed up in their home-studio for the better part of a year, writing and recording for their forthcoming sophomore EP “Settle For Earth” (due out 02/12/17). From these sessions emerges “Lovely Sound”, the first single and lead-off track, available now as a FREE download on Soundcloud until the EP drops in February. The tune was co-produced by HLH’s singer, Nikki Stipp and long-time collaborator, GRAMMY-winner Isha Erskine. Dark, grooving and hopelessly epic, “Lovely Sound” reveals the polished direction the band has taken with its latest endeavor.

Hooked Like Helen had an eventful year in 2016, having won an Indi.com Award for Best Original Song for “Liar” from their debut release. The MTV documentary-series “Unlocking The Truth” featured several HLH songs on the show and its Spotify soundtrack playlist. Hooked Like Helen is honored to have received such attention and is gearing up for a string of local live performances to support the release of “Settle For Earth”.

A&R Factory Present: The Great Escape

The three-faced band The Great Escape with it’s rousing energy and their single “I can’t resist” met the spirit of the California indie-scene. They draw their inspiration of all the West Coast has to offer – sun, surf and of course the laid-back lifestyle.

Although the two male members ideally fit look-wise in the image of real Californians, Kristian and Malte are actually from Hamburg, Germany . Whereas Amie, the only girl in the band is from America and fascinates with her powerful voice. During their times together as a band in Los Angeles, they developed the vision to bring their music to the sound of the 60’s, 70’s when rock and pop music was still genuine, authentic and unpolished.

Heavy-hitting “I Can’t Resist,” centerpiece and lead single of the upcoming album, perfectly showcases the stomping confidence that lies at the core of these gems: dirty vintage hooks caught on the fly, minimalist riffs shot from the hip and topped off with a truly stunning female voice.

Their new album is not only the band name in itself but represents symbolically the career of the band – A Great Escape.

Drayter is an award winning pop/rock band from Dallas,Texas. Renowned for their high-energy live shows and emotionally charged modern rock songs, Drayter stitches together melodies from both pop and traditional rock ‘n’ roll that are impassioned, heavy at times, most assuredly danceable, and pop in all the right places.

With Liv Miner’s angelic female vocals, jazzy bass lines, combined with Cole Schwartz’s slicing guitar and driving percussion, Drayter’s sound is both unique and familiar to even the most discerning music fan.

It is great to see such a young band, making great music. They take a whole range of musical influences from Foo Fighters to Periphery to create there own style of progressive rock with soaring melodies.
