Sandor Gavin borrowed from 80s synthpop pioneers in his captivatingly lush synthwave single, Ghost of a Memory ft Weldon

For his latest single, Ghost of a Memory, the Synthwave sensation, Sandor Gavin, borrowed the mesmeric vocal timbre of the featuring artist, Weldon, to leave the airwaves awash with nostalgia, emotion, and captivatingly lush melodies.

There is a strange assumption amongst artists and producers that when summer hits everyone is drunk on love and desperate to hear anthems which capture the euphoria of lust. Thankfully, Sandor Gavin injected realism into his latest synthwave crusade to help his audience through the minefield of lost love and shattered dreams.

The relatability of his crushed romanticism does so much more than just scratch at the surface of superficiality. Everything within Ghost of a Memory runs deep, from the basslines to the ennui to the reverberant hums emanating from the vocals, ensuring that the bitter-sweet release hits all the right marks.

Spotlight Feature: Ducktail’s fiery feat of anthemic electro-soul, Over, ft Kristal Oliver, Bursts with riotous, almost punk energy: try telling us this isn’t the debut of the year

With a Wall Street career in the rear-view mirror, the electro luminary in the making, Ducktail, ensured the world knew about his arrival in the Future Bass scene by dropping his debut single, Over. If it’s good enough for Pete Tong, the multi-layered leads driving through pop-hooked groove-pocketed basslines are worthy enough for your rhythmic pulses.

The New York-based artist and producer teamed up with the Grammy-nominated platinum artist Kristal Oliver, who exhilarated the release with her award-winning vocal lines before the anthem for a lost and now found cause was mixed and mastered by none other than Gosteffects.

Ducktail and Kristal Oliver converged to create an unreckonable force with this fiery feat of anthemic electro-soul. With choruses that burst with riotous, almost punk, energy and ever-ascending verses, which will leave you on a new spiritual plateau, just try telling me this isn’t the debut of the year.

As change is the only inevitability in life, Ducktail prepared us for it with Over, by illustrating that freedom to step into the infinite possibilities of the unknown is something that we should forego complacency and stagnation for.

MJSB spilt sonic synaesthesia into the deep house grooves of her latest single, Bright Green

With her recently released EP, From Nothing, to Rushing, the UK artist and producer MJSB reconstructed the house genre by weaving a tonally sublime tapestry of sub-genre signatures.

Embark on an oceanic odyssey with Specie11’s latest single, Jellypus

After cutting their teeth in the music industry in metal bands, the one-man powerhouse behind the moniker Specie11 embraced the limitless opportunities for expression which lie within electronica production.

Their recent single, Jellypus, starts with a pacifically placid exploration of downtempo electronica and jazz before the soaring electronic guitars riff some rock elements into the ambiently epic single, which is just as cinematic as War of the Worlds, with a smorgasbord more tranquillity and beguile. Typically, I hate the phrase ‘it’s a vibe’, but there are few better ways to allude to the mood-driven atmosphere contained within this creatively euphonic emotional journey.

With an air of the 80s oscillating through the mellow instrumental track, the sense of nostalgia becomes a grounding centre of gravity in the intrinsically experimental release, which will be your tour guide on an oceanic odyssey.

Take a trip with GeoMike122’s synthwaves in ‘Mode’

Ride the synthwaves in GeoMike122’s latest single, Mode, right through the 80s nostalgia and into the electrifying escapism the alt-electro single provides. The trippy tendencies of the pulsating basslines are only amplified by the official music video, which distorts reality as much as the oscillating trance-y EBM beats and synths that put a myriad of EDM genres under heel to knock you off an even keel.

When GeoMike122 isn’t orchestrating alchemy in his studio and allowing his audience, affectionally dubbed ‘the travellers’, to sonically arrive at new destinations, he’s sating his desire for wanderlust or enriching minds by the more conventional means of being a teacher. Mode is a scintillating convergence of his adventurous tendencies; grab your passport and sink into the cinematic sci-fi-esque tones.

DJ CoolRex grooved through the depths of desire in his tech-house debut, I Want

After the debut single, I Want, from DJ CoolRex, it is safe to say tech-house has a new iconic architect. While encompassing the epitome of desire, the techno kicks and basslines punctuate the soul-soaked house synthetics to create an authentically immersive atmosphere that electro heads will want to drench themselves in time and time again.

His future-ready flair, noted through the bass-drenched deep cuts, effortlessly set him apart from his contemporaries and the tech-house pioneers Laurent Garnier and Carl Cox. DJ CoolRex may be new to the scene, but on the basis of this deliciously strong debut, the Ohio-born and raised innovator has exactly what it takes to make his ascent from the underground an ephemeral trip.

Jody Lynn transcended Earth’s orbit to celebrate a cosmic connection in her latest dance-pop hit, Lost in Love

Lost in Love is the latest ethereally hyper dance pop track from the US artist Jody Lynn, who is in the habit of giving her ear candy, which is sweet enough to give you a euphoric sugar rush, a lyrical centre of gravity.

The trance elements are just one stitch in the tapestry of the massive genre-melding production, which transcends Earth’s orbit to pay an ode to an out-of-this-world cosmic connection. The indietronica elements give the massive anthem another element, allowing Lost in Love to become a sonic piece of ephemera from the fifth dimension.

Very few amorously fervent dance hits can claim to contain the same all-encompassing sense of soul exhibited in this future-ready floor-filler. Dance and EDM may be Jody Lynn’s wheelhouse, but in terms of inspiration, Prince’s tendency to push boundaries in his prolific career is the greatest influence behind her singles.

Avicii meets Depeche Mode in Policy’s latest genre-mash, I’d Wait for You ft Sergi Yaro

Policy

The award-winning genre-melding producer, Policy, is back on the airwaves following the successful launch of his debut LP, Echo Chambers, in 2020 and the sophomore album, The Abby Rose, in 2022. This time, the Ohio-based beat master collaborated with the Ukrainian singer-songwriter Sergi Yaro to awaken sentimental senses with I’d Wait for You.

The falsetto vocal lines against the dark, droning and dancey synths and harbingering percussive beats, which slam to sonically attest to how dark the waters of a loveless reality can be, is an alchemic combination, which won’t fail to drag you into the murky core of this experimental hit which could win over mainstream electronica fans and alt-electro heads alike. Instrumentally, if you found the middle ground between Depeche Mode and Avicii, you’d find I’d Wait for You resoundfully residing there.
