Hebreo & K Perez put a reggae tech twist on the Peurto Rican EDM tonal palette with DiPutaDa

Running under the label SJB, the revered Puerto Rican producers, Hebreo & K Perez have dropped their debut 13-track studio album, Los Gatos Scarface, which showcases a fresh new fusionist sound that is brimming up from the Puerto Rican underground and spilling into international waters.

The standout single, DiPutaDa, is a rhythmically adrenalized amalgam of arrestingly bright tech house beats and intuitively placed reggaeton vocals that bring a smorgasbord of flavour. Nothing is lost in translation in this bass-riding modernist twist on the definitively Puerto Rican EDM palette.

EDM fans the world over have already started flocking to the tantalisingly infectious tempo of DiPutaDa. If you want to splice some kaleidoscopic colour onto your playlists, jump on it while the hype is hot.

Positronic signed, sealed, and delivered a 80s synth-pop postcard with his latest single, A Long Goodbye

Positronic

With an edge of 80s synthpop sharpening the future-embracing textures in the ardently dreamy release that picks up plenty of visceral weight from the crooned harmonies, the latest single, A Long Goodbye, from Positronic will warm even the most sub-zero souls.

Odes to the 80s can often sound trite at best – there was never any danger of that with the reminiscences to icons of aural cool such as Editors, noted through the harshness of the snares, the chillier timbres and the sheer depth of emotion in the vocals.

The unassimilated gravitas of A Long Goodbye starts to make infinitely more sense with a glimpse at the artist and producer’s biography; the solo artist has been in the synth-pop scene since 1988, spurred on by the love of The Pet Shop Boys, OMD, Erasure and Depeche Mode. The Cali solo artist is just as talented as the artists he pulled inspiration from.

Unstoppable: London rockers Compound Radius tries to find the peace within on Victim of our Minds

Gripping our hungry core with a ravenous soundtrack to wake up the neighbours, Compound Radius ravage innocent ears with something rather hardcore and slides all the worries away on Victim of our Minds.

Compound Radius is a London, UK-based indie rock band that smartly submerges funk, folk, soul, electronica, metal and world music into their hard-hitting creations.

‘Arnab Datta, aka Radius, is their lead singer, lead guitarist and composer whose songs are multilingual, English, Bengali, Hindi ,Sanskrit Afrikaans etc. His similarly multi-talented wife Aditi provides ideas and female vocals. On drums is the energetic Rajib Chakraborty and on bass the brilliant Dan Mackrill. Compound Radius have been gigging since September 2021 and played their first big show in July 2022.” ~ Compound Radius

Powering in with a weighty harmony with much might and significance, Compound Radius are that all-pro act who doesn’t care what anyone thinks. They impress from all angles on Victim of our Minds and shall take many breaths away with a dragon-like fire.

Victim of our Minds from London, UK-based indie rock band Compound Radius is a rather explosive track which might raise the temperature a tad higher than before. Actually, this will probably burn all plastic away and sends us into a wondrous universe which might slice the doubt out of millions on this thunderbolt.

Tom P Buckley pushed the boundaries of Avant-Garde electronica with his latest single, Try

If you like your leftfield electronica soaked in theatrical autonomy, you would be hard-pressed to find more originality than what floods the mix in one of the recent releases from the Maine-based artist and producer, Tom P Buckley.

Try is just one of the 8,000 songs penned by the prolifically creative artist, who has also put his name to 51 novels and received accolades for his visual art. The extended 7-minute release drifts through everything from cutting orchestral strings to intense electro build-ups that break with a flood of euphoria to lift you from the sonic monotony that is tragically prolific on the airwaves. While we can’t say we’ve ever heard anything like it before, who is to say that’s a bad thing?

Slender Dan orchestrated a superlative existential meditation with ‘Time is Running Out’

With vocals as ethereally magnetic as Cigarettes After Sex atop cinematically intricate Aphex Twin-ESQUE beats and apocalypse-centred lyricism, the latest single, Time is Running Out, by Slender Dan, is the ultimate existential meditation.

With chilling vocal samples alluding to how our child-like proclivities are the main reason behind our destructive tendencies that have led the earth to the point of collapse, there’s no exaggerating the sombreness of the dream-like Avant-Garde score. Yet, Slender Dan simultaneously succeeded in creating a tranquil feat of electronic ambience that will quell your end-of-days fears.

The striking mindfulness within the layers of lush reverb allows the tonally transcendent single to unravel as one of the superlative feats of post-modernism you could add to your playlists.

The Nashville-residing duo comprising Heather Dickinson (vox, keys, guitar, bass), and Patrick Ahern (drums, production, vox) debuted their first EP on KEXP in 2021 and has had its fair share of successes since. Time is Running Out is just one of the singles to feature on the forthcoming LP, GESTALT. Transcend to a new distorted dimension with the post-rock instrumentals in Bundle of His’ latest single, Patches

If Grandaddy dialled the polyphonic distortion and fuzz up to 11, their sweet synthy melodies would be as infectiously muddy as the electro post-rock tones in the latest single, Patches, from the artist and producer, Bundle of His.

With a touch of Kraftwerk melded into his intrinsically authentic instrumental hits, the Outer Hebrides-based artist pushes the envelope beyond the limits most dare to, and his instrumental lo-fi tracks are all the more alluring for it.

After an illness got in the way of the artist playing bass in various bands in Glasgow and the Outer Hebrides, it is safe to say Bundle of His didn’t fail to bring his bass-driven ingenuity to life as a producer.

Patches was officially released on January 1st. It is now available to stream and purchase via Bandcamp.

Leave your inhibitions at the door for Loren’s latest EDM anthem, The Feeling ft. Jessi McDonald

The up-and-coming artist Loren’s sophomore electro-pop hit, The Feeling, featuring Jessi McDonald, is making light work of catching up to the hype of their 2022 debut single, I Want All Your Love.

Uninhibited affectionate ecstasy surges through the sensuously demure deep house instrumentals that effortlessly coalesce with the honeyed vocal lines that are tinged with tropic tranquillity.

If any new independent EDM hit can make you lose your head and heart on the dancefloor, it is The Feeling, with its addictively liberating rhythms and lyrics which prove that giving yourself completely is the only way to truly feel free. The infectiously euphoric backbeats are the only upper you will need to leave you riding on a high.

Oxfordshire sound designer Mosa has unveiled his poetically postmodernist score, helicopter

Game composer by day and sound designer by night, the Oxfordshire-based artist Mosa evidently has a talent for creating immersive worlds. If anyone can exhibit the intrinsic beauty in melancholy, it is Mosa; his latest single, helicopter, is the ultimate testament to his ability to build poetry and a bitter-sweet neo-classic electronica score from scorned emotion.

Juxtaposingly creating an even balance between etherealism and visceralism, helicopter is an achingly artful aural memoir of ennui. The postmodernist reflective piece enmeshes you within the lyrical and vocal vulnerability, while the intricately weaved cinematic layers conceptually depict curtains closing. It is the ultimate consolation for outliers through the sonic resonance and affirmation that whatever you’re sinking into has sunk many of the beautiful minds that came before you.

The latest installation of sonic transcendence, Late Night Call, from the Sydney-based sound designer Timothy and the Apocalypse, is one that you will want to answer.

Capturing the after-dark glow, the downtempo drum & bass spilling of synaesthesia extends the atmosphere of metropolitan twilight, defined by the ambience of streaming taillights and the idealized atmosphere which breeds intimacy and romanticism. For anyone who fails to find sentimentality under the harsh light of day, Late Night Call is the ultimate inky soundscape. YME adrenalized self-liberation in her euphoric electro-pop hit, I Rule the World

Since making her 2021 debut, the Netherlands-hailing electro-pop sensation YME has established herself as one to watch alongside her producer, Marco Roosink, as she transcribes personal experience into vulnerably infectious earworms.

The independent artist’s latest single, I Rule the World is a triumphantly empowering track which does plenty more than testifies to individual strength; it shares the euphoria of self-liberation. As her vocals switch between ethereal soul to demurely playful grace, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the adrenalized helter-skelter hit that embeds entrancing elements around addictively encapsulating lyrics.
