BrooksOfYork – To Giants: Indie Dreampop You Won’t Want to Wake Up From

Within up and coming Indie artist BrooksOfYork’s latest single To Giants, you’ll find compassion, modernism, and plenty of reasons to repeatedly press play.

The clean guitar tones under delay and reverb bring a sense of fragility to the soundscape while the resoundingly magnetic vocals draw you into the profoundly contemplative lyrical narrative.

With To Giants, BrooksOfYork found the perfect balance of intricate Indie Rock experimentalism and sticky sweet Pop sincerity. Their dreamy signature blend of electronica and acoustic elements offers a rare level of nuance which rarely hits the airwaves.

Naturally, as with every artist who efficaciously hits the evocative spot with their sound, we can’t wait to hear what follows.

Wally Hoak has made their viscerally experimental Alt Urban Pop debut with “Complicated”

https://soundcloud.com/wjoaquin9/complicated

Usually, you’d have to turn to Dreampop or Shoegaze to hear guitar tones as tantalising as the ones you will find in Wally Hoak’s Alt Urban Pop single “Complicated”.

The experimentally indulgent soundscape is a collision of culture, seasoned by the frustrative grief which can sour the sweetest of relationships.

While there’s a fairly wistful and melancholic air to the former verses, with the following verses, Wally Hoak starts to project the visceral contempt which usually manifests when romantic partners unnecessarily push and blur boundaries leaving us unaware of where we stand but all too aware that we look like an idiot.

With the amount of resonance in Complicated, we can’t wait to hear how the artist serves up his soul in his sophomore release.

Paola Rogue – This Picture: Soul-Soothingly-Sludgy Indie Shoegaze

https://paolarogue.bandcamp.com/track/this-picture

Costa Rican singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paola Rogue may be better known for her work in her band, The Great Wilderness, but her recently released second solo album may be the best testament to her talent when it comes to crafting soul-soothing Lo-Fi Indie.

While each of the sludgy yet light and dextrous tracks has the capacity to leave you pleasantly catatonic, any fans of Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine will definitely want to delve into the deftly weaved tones in This Picture as they mellifluously sweep through the reverb-drenched production.

Atop of the absorbing Shoegaze-style instrumentals which also ring with a touch of Post-Punk, you’ll hear Paola Rogue’s compelling vocals which are all too efficacious when it comes to drawing emotion out of you.

Hannah Crowley has made her Shoegaze-infused Indie Pop debut with “Scrolling”

The nuances of Shoegaze in the Indie Pop soundscape give the instrumentals a smoothly melodious feel while the lyrics offer a bruising amount of resonance. If you’re sick of spending your days attached to your phone trying to stay connected with the world, lyrics such as “scrolling through my life to past the time” will hit hard.

UK Alt artist 8udDha bl0od has released their enticingly chilling ambient soundscape “The Lost Pleiad”

https://soundcloud.com/william-orpen/23tauri/s-R5rzoOZ8wR6

Aural enigma 8udDha bl0od has unleashed yet another enticingly chilling soundscape on the airwaves with their latest release “The Lost Pleiad”.

It takes an unholy amount of talent to create an experimental track which offers instant magnetic appeal, but that’s exactly what 8udDha bl0od achieved with his ambiently beguiling single. The tones may have bordered on celestial but didn’t mean that 8udDha bl0od had to hold back on his almost Machiavellianly mischievous ingenuity.

From start to finish, The Lost Pleiad was mesmeric and all-consuming. Around the inventive electronic effects, you’ll find sporadic offerings of angularly picked guitar strings and tranquil pools of reverb which will convince you to hit play time and time again.

There’s no adjective more fitting for The Lost Pleiad than stunning. As always, we can’t wait to hear what 8udDha bl0od has in the pipeline.

painted people – Hope You Understand Me: A Sonically Electrifying Meeting of Shoegaze and Industrial

https://thepaintedpeople.bandcamp.com/track/hope-you-understand-me

LA Alt-Rock artist painted people released their genre-defying latest single “Hope You Understand Me” on July 18th. We’re already utterly infatuated with their arrestingly high-octane sound.

New offerings of Shoegaze and Industrial tend to be fairly archetypal. Yet, under painted people’s deftly experimental prowess, the two seemingly contrasting genres fit hand in sonically electrifying glove. It’s safe to say that you won’t ever come across such a galvanizing track which features elements of Shoegaze and Dreampop.

If you’re anything like me and you’re always looking for fresh ingenuity from up and coming artists, you’re sure to appreciate the pioneering appeal in the indulgently kaleidoscopic single. It’s euphoric, it’s chaotic, but it still oozes all of the dreamy absorbing accordance of Shoegaze. What more could you possibly ask for?

You can check out painted people’s single Hope You Understand Me via Bandcamp.

Brother vs Brother has released their stunning feat of Indie Shoegaze “Con Arena en Mis Ojos”

Up and coming Alt Indie artist Brother vs Brother released their stunning Shoegaze EP Vol 1. containing the standout single “Con Arena en Mis Ojos” on May 14th. The evocatively atmospheric soundscape is sure to be a hit with any fans of Slowdive, the Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine.

Even though my unilingual mind was unable to decipher the lyrics, you’d need to be tone-deaf not to register the resolving sweetness in Con Arena en Mis Ojos. The track may be melancholically-tinged, but ultimately the tonally effervescent track is as uplifting as you’re likely to hear from any breaking Indie artist. Get them on your radar.

You can check out Brother vs Brother’s single Con Arena en Mis Ojos for yourselves by heading over to YouTube. Or, you can listen to the full EP on Spotify.

Bennett – Stimulation: Melodically Smooth New Wave Trap

Las Vegas Hip Hop artist Bennett dropped their latest self-produced album Stimulation in March 2020, anyone who appreciates ahead of the curve ambient Pop Hip Hop are undoubtedly going to want to make time for this smooth melodic release.

The title-track is the perfect introduction to Bennett’s sentimental songwriting approach and talent when it comes to pulling together a light yet immersive soundscapes which will hook you in from the first verse.

Their New Wave Trap style borrows a few vocally harmonic elements from RnB Pop, but the futuristically fresh track firmly remains in the realms of contemporary Hip Hop.

lily hughes – together: Delicately Lynchian Dreampop

Shoegaze and Pop seamlessly entwine in up and coming Alt Pop artist lily hughes’ standout single “together”.

The Lynchian and abstract soundscape may be a little lighter and softer than you’ll be accustomed to hearing. But the gentle nature of the minimalistic beats and the delicate mesmerism of the vocals will make sure that when you hit play on together, your attention has little chance of faltering.

The Calls – Fall Inside: An Indie Psych Playlist Essential

The Calls found the perfect balance of Indie, Psych, Shoegaze, and Post-Punk with their latest transfixingly reverb-soaked single “Fall Inside”.

The Leeds-based newcomers made sure the melodies are equipped to make your soul feel lighter while also bleeding a potent amount of 90s nostalgia which is sure to appeal to fans of the Stone Roses.

Their talent transcends assimilation through their signature tonal experimentalism. The progressions come with a captivating kaleidoscopic hypnotic appeal. There’s also a more cutting edge to Fall Inside which means fans of The Cure and Echo and the Bunnymen will want to make room for Fall Inside on their playlists.

The Calls have well and truly broken the mould with Fall Inside. I can only imagine how unholy the walls of noise they conjure in their live performances are.
