Barry Slorridge – Why? Avant-Garde Whovian Electronica

Any artist who uses the vocalisations of an existential Dalek in their tracks is an icon in our book, and that’s just the tip of the ingenuity iceberg in Barry Slorridge’s slice of Whovian avant-garde electronica.

With Why? the UK-based composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist didn’t use his Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Composition by any conventional means; instead, he chose to score his cultivated composition chops into an installation of delicious discordance which reminisces with nuances of The Beatles and Kraftwerk.

The synth lines carry echoes of The Phobophobes, introducing a dark, reflective undertone, interwoven with kaleidoscopic effects, allowing distorted waves of psychedelia to cascade through the music. Meanwhile, sweet psych-pop harmonies offer a stark contrast to the monotonal menace of the Dalek samples.

The track epitomises revolutionary art, achieving a rare feat—it unsettles those comfortably ensconced in their auditory preferences while providing solace to those who find beauty in the bizarre. Once Slorridge finds his niche, he will be an unreckonable force in the alt-electronica scene; his ability to orchestrate sensory experiences which bend the mind and electrify the pulses is unparalleled.

Why? was officially released on August 5th; stream the single on YouTube now.

Technicolor Fades: Matt Jaffe flips the hourglass on creative visuals for the fascinating ‘Time Traveler’

After his well-planned out tour to the UK was tragically postponed due to the horrific covid-19 pandemic which has changed our lives forever, Matt Jaffe expertly finds his way through the volcano-filled vortex of current disastrous times like Dr Who would as he tries to fight off those long distance blues on ‘Time Traveler‘.

Matt Jaffe is a soulfully smooth San Francisco, California-based indie alt-rock singer-songwriter. He makes a sterling blend of music creations that is deep in thought and high in quality, as he shows us his class on this terrific single.

I wanted to record this song like it was produced by Brian Eno. The grand sonic vistas of Joshua Tree, the atmospheric panoramas of Remain In Light. It’s a love song in the tradition of Ben Gibbard’s Transatlanticism, lamenting long distance with a spacious landscape that invites you to lie down on its featherbed of Swiss Clock drums and Dalí Clock guitars.” ~ Matt Jaffe

Taken off his recent seven-track album called ‘Undertoad‘, this is a well-constructed track from a wildly creative artist who brings us a nostalgic gem. With so much music around that is made with a copy cat grin and a whisker of skill, this is a refreshingly mind-mover of an experience which leaves you totally transfixed at this compelling single.

Time Traveler‘ from the San Francisco-based world class indie rock singer-songwriter Matt Jaffe, shows us into a world that can divide many unexpectedly. The unfortunate long distance keeps your souls from interconnecting and the yearn to be with that special human can’t be replaced by any kind of technology. Sung with a composed tone and featuring complexly created lyrics which shows us his growing greatness, this is a wonderfully projected track which will have you listening twice.

That New World: Brighton’s 8udDha bl0od defies the norm with the incredibly beautiful ‘6iX’

Returning with more outstanding music to helpfully expand our previously confused minds into another stratosphere, the prolific 8udDha bl0od has us all closing our eyes to imagine a peaceful universe that is safe to live in with ‘6iX‘.

8udDha bl0od is an incomparable William Orpen-lead Brighton, UK-based indie psychedelic alt-rock infused act who seem to time travel through genres like in an episode of Dr Who.

After the wonderful five-track EP called ‘V‘ which includes a song so marvelously named ‘SUm 0f the !x|xi gl17ch35 & 7h3 x!i 73ll7A!L 51gn5 0f 5p3c7R3 SARk0pH.:.rgU5‘, we are once again blessed with an ear-warmer of a track that seems to drift you in and out of consciousness.

You feel an aura of calm filtering all around you as the peaceful nature-filled ambiance has a fantastic balance to everything, as you put down your distracting phone and truly open up your imagination to what could be possible. The riff is stupendously excellent, the sky above seems to spark bright and everything seems okay again after all the unexpected anxiousness.

6iX‘ from the mysteriously brilliant Brighton-based 8udDha bl0od, is an exciting explosion for your whole soul to swim merrily into. The instrumental genre-less experience is a real gem on the soul, as you feel like this could be at the start of a movie that is going to be rather special. This is another true masterpiece from one of the most criminally underrated artists around, who prefers to let his music do the talking.
