4amcollective – you said… – Soul-Deep RnB Trap

Sonorous amounts of soul within Trap music may be hard to find. But Oakland-based Hip Hop artist 4amcollective made up for the shortfall with their standout 2019 hit “you said…”.

The lyrics deliver a captivatingly potent serving of humble romantic confusion. As the hauntingly downtempo reverb-laden beats lead the way through the mix, 4amcollective verses thoughts which may be all too familiar. If you’ve had the displeasure of dating in the 21st century, you’ll definitely be able to find the resonance in the simplistic candidacy of the single.

4amcollective’s soul was as much of a part of the soundscape as the lucid wavy trap beats, which may be light in tone and texture, but it’s still a track which hits incredibly hard.

mike senze – Doughnuts: Tonally Warm, Playfully Sweet Jazz Hip Hop

There was no forgetting up and coming Hip Hop artist mike senze after checking out their tracks Restless, and Mega Blaster earlier this year. They’ve left us endeared for the third time in a row with their final track to drop in 2019 “Doughnuts”.

The melody to this playful Jazz-soaked Hip Hop earworm should come with a warning. As soon as you hear it, there’s no forgetting it. But there is the high chance that your friends will be wondering why you’re mumbling “hitting doughnuts in the streets” repetitively. With the hypnotic propensities of the soft fluid instrumentals and the pure charisma which drips from mike senze’s vocals and lyrics, it may not be your average urban aural hit. But it is an authentic work of ingenuity which more than deserves three minutes of your time.

Alex Forte has dropped their latest Jazzy freestyle mix “RoseGold Freestyle”

Breaking Hip Hop artist Alex Forte has recently dropped his latest Jazzy mix “RoseGold Freestyle”. It’s playful, it’s charismatic, and it packs in plenty of ambience around the solid melodic beats.

Instead of waiting for the hooks to reel you in, right from the first verse in RoseGold Freestyle, you’re locked into a mellifluous electronic arrangement combined with equally as fluid downtempo Rap verses. Freestyle Hip Hop may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there is a lot to be said for how Alex Forte has thrown away the usual constraints which come alongside archetypal track structures and cooked up a naturally immersive mix.
