Mikey Mosher – ‘Tell Me!’: A Scuzzy Slice of DIY Indie Garage Rock Romanticism

If Fidlar and The Strokes met in a garagey middle ground and took a few production and vocal cues from John Grant, the result would reverberate in the same deliciously scuzzy vein as the latest self-written, produced and recorded single, ‘Tell Me!’ by the Chicago-based DIY musician and visual artist, Mikey Mosher.

With the only other hands brought to this single and self-shot and directed music video being Joseph at Freeman Mastering, it’s safe to say that Mikey Mosher has honed his multi-faceted talents enough to emerge as a master of all sonic trades.

The aesthetic of the release is perfectly complemented by the warm, saturation-rich visuals, which hark back to the DIY videos which reigned supreme in the era of indie sleaze; now that Gen Z is determined to live through the epoch they missed the first time around, Mikey Mosher is well-placed to make major waves throughout the US and beyond.

If you can’t get enough of the haplessly hopeless romanticism in ‘Tell Me!’, keep Mikey Mosher on your radar to stay posted on his new album, Atlantis, which is due to drop in early 2025.

The official music video for ‘Tell Me!’ dropped on November 26th; stream it on YouTube now.

With a Valentines Day story about trying to help out a good friend, Action Doll Joe sings with striking energy on the catchy new single called ‘Paper Heart‘.

Elijah Barrera aka Action Doll Joe, is a fantastic California-based indie alt-pop/rock artist, who sings about personal experiences that makes you feel self-reflective and thoughtful.

This is the relevant story about trying to get through to a friend that keeps on having their heart broken due to dating the wrong people. Their fragile heart is being smashed to pieces again and again, as you try and get through to them so that they may see the light, before its too late. They keep on going for the wrong person and its starting to become obvious what the issue is.

His sings with passionate energy that is projecting the message of care and love towards his friend, his tone is tremendous and you feel his story closely as his heart is in the right place. The lyrics tell the truth through the lens of perhaps dealing with this issue once before too himself, for it to never happen again.

Whether his advice is consumed wisely, is a question that will have to be answered later down the line however.

In life, you only have a few cracks at falling in love before your heart permanently breaks forever. Having good friends around that look out for your best interests, is a smart way to find love after all.

Slicing away the doubts: Roses from Bones cuts through the loneliness with ‘Guillotine’

Whilst looking after his father recover from a dreadful accident, Roses from Bones sings from the darkest part of his soul on the impressively sharp ‘Guillotine‘.

Roses from Bones is the consciously advanced DIY indie-folk music project from Florida-based Chris Fritz. He sings about being lonely, dealing with self-doubt, fitting in and having the courage to follow your dreams, no matter what locked doors are in front of you.

His eerily honest voice fills the room full of darkness, his unfurnished room with the air mattress in the corner sinks into the creaky floor of his parents house, as he finds the inspiration to make the type of music he has been visualizing for years.

With recording studios closed due to pesky covid restrictions, he has done an outstanding job to almost-perfect the production, his over analyzing mind lathering over the thoughts, as he realized it was actually done and the time to move on to the next song was near.

With strong vocals that show his ambition, each word is meaningful and with deep thought as he sings so brightly and with that extra hunger in his spine. This is the ultimate underdog who refuses to be shut out, the talent is there and can be heard marvelously here, as he starts this new journey to full enlightenment.

Guillotine‘ from Florida’s indie-folk project Roses from Bones, is that special track that makes the hairs on your arms stand up as you nod your head and turn the volume up, eager not to miss any word from this humble underground gem.

Slowly edging away from his doubts, this is the story of breaking free from the shackles of society and being free with the caring sounds of true music.
