Baby Rose xo – Honey Honey: Empoweringly Salacious Queer Pop

Instead of pandering to pre-existing narratives around sexuality, Baby Rose xo changed the script with her latest single, ‘Honey Honey’, and is following in the footsteps of the likes of Peaches to create salaciously empowering Pop hits.

Anyone who grew up on 90s Riot Grrrl but appreciates danceable electro pop grooves, will undoubtedly want to adopt Honey Honey as a high-vibe playlist essential. It smashes the preconception that female sexuality exists solely for the pleasure of men. As Kathleen Hanna notoriously said, ‘I believe in the radical notion of pleasure, babe’.

Honey Honey is available through Apple Music. Hit play and find your new queer pop icon.

2SixEight ‘Don’t Need Nobody’ to make us party.

Sri Lanka might not be the first place that springs to mind when you think of house music, but this – the new single from 2SixEight – adds vocalist Iman C, a Sri Lankan model with over 20,000 followers. The result is a full-on house dancefloor attack, heavy on the drum and bass with an impressive lift and drop; it’s got some proper grind to it, Iman’s mantra-like vocal breathy and seductive over the sparse instrumentation. There’s an element of Beardyman’s ‘6 am (Ready To Write) to it, along with some of Breach’s ‘ Let’s Jack’ and maybe even a little Flat Eric in places – it’s catchy, but it’s also effortlessly cool.

2SixEight – a reference to the artist’s home number – plan to release some official remixes of the track too, in the coming months, but for now ‘Don’t Need Nobody’ is a killer dancefloor groove all of itself.

Hit play on Cayetano’s infectious electro mix ‘Get Back (To Real)’ and Resume Reality

Cayetano’s latest feat of alt-electronica, ‘Get Back (To Real)’, kicks off with an instantaneously entrancing hook. From there on out, you’re dragged along by the euphoria-dripping glitchy funk-drunk tides. Any fans of Big Black Delta are going to want to delve into the intensely-packed mix which features collaborative artist, Georges Perin.

Get Back may remind you that dancefloors across the globe are accruing dust instead of being a platform for sweet hedonistic memories, but you’ll struggle to feel morose with this track which breaks the monocultural mould. Cayetano’s international lifestyle is stamped down in his passport as much as it is in his sound. There really is no room to wonder how he manages to hold so much acclaim on such a global scale.

You can check out the official video to Get Back which premiered on January 8th by heading over to YouTube now.

Edenhill has taken indie pop to anthemic new heights with ‘Reliever’

Edenhill

Elements of anthemic EDM pop and indie jangle-pop coalesce in the sophomore release, ‘Reliever’ from up and coming London-residing artist, Edenhill, who may be one of the only artists with the ability to unite club kids and indie kids through one release.

Sonically angular guitars bite against danceable beats and experimental synth lines which almost bring a touch of psychedelia into the radio-ready soundscape which bleeds mainstream pop potential. While the instrumentals bring the authenticity, Edenhills vocals bring the accessibility and ensured that Reliever became one of the most infectious perennial pop earworms we’ve heard recently.

Reliever is due for official release on January 8th, you’ll be able to check it out via SoundCloud.

ADT proves that ‘The Truth’ doesn’t have to be uncomfortable with his latest moody electro pop hit

Dark, brooding electronica with a serious hip hop influence, all speeding beats, thumping piano chords, and layered, effected vocals, ‘The Truth’ from ADT is bass-heavy electronic pop with a menacing undertone; if Dre and Eminem had produced Avicii, it might sound something like ADT on ‘The Truth’.

There’s an obvious Marshall Mathers quality to the vocal here, mixed up with a very techno 140 BPM drum pattern and rising instrumental section. It’s a proper, classy dancefloor anthem with a catchy chorus and a kick to the drop, atmospheric and immediately comfortable at the same time.

Check out ADT’s ‘The Truth’ on Spotify, and follow on Facebook.

Gabe Angelo x Neguine Niktash deliver exactly what we need with ‘A Miracle’

If you’re always in search of the aurally miraculous, that is exactly what you will find in the latest high-vibe hit from producer Gabe Angelo featuring vocals from US singer-songwriter Neguine Niktash.

Neguine Niktash’s soulfully sonorous vocals have seen her influenced by artists such as Ashe, SHAED and Maggie Rogers and it is all too easy to see why such a wide-ranging array of artists shine through in this track. There’s more than just power and pitch-perfect harmony behind her connectable vocal timbre, there’s soul, sincerity and an overwhelming amount of compassion.

As it feels like a miracle is exactly what is needed to pull us out of our contemporary sufferance thanks to a crumbling socio-political climate and Covid-19, it’s hard to see A Miracle as anything less than a playlist essential for Future Pop fans.

You can check it out for yourselves here.

Hard House got harder with the release of ZacTomRob’s devilish drop ‘Mischief’

High tempo, hi-energy EDM shouldn’t be a genre description, but in the case of ZacTomRob’s ‘Mischief,’ it absolutely is. Techno-tinged drum and bass with sampled, sequenced vocal parts and a thunderous backline of programmed drums, rising bass parts, and a killer drop, this is a proper Hard House club anthem in the making.

Following up from September’s killer ‘Light That Feeling’, ‘Mischief’ is absolutely the sort of track to get people onto dance floors and lighting up clubs across the country. Mixed and mastered by the great Michael Wenz (Frankie Bones, Alpha Quadrant, The DRP), ‘Mischief’ is proper old-school EDM at its best.

The planets all align for Rocco & TDC Tunes with new single ‘Cosmic’

Rocco & TDC Tunes

While the world blinks in pandemic darkness and people sit frustrated, confused, and nervous of the future, it seems dance singer/songwriter Rocco has not just been falling in love, but finding the whole experience a transcendental, psychedelic time. Perhaps best known for her single ‘Lovesick’, a collaboration with H two 0 for the Ministry of Sound, which reached No.1 in the UK Dance Charts, on ‘Cosmic’ Rocco collaborates with London-based writer/producer TDC Tunes to provide us with a high energy, soaring dance tune, all swelling keyboard chords, overlapping vocal lines, and thumping house beats.

There’s a Gabrielle-like quality to Rocco’s voice, a smoky huskiness that’s at once sexy and vulnerable, sitting over rising, chiming sequenced keyboards, hi hat patterns, and thunderous bass, building and rising then dropping to a trancey, psychedelic little breakdown before climbing once more to its ultimate crescendo.

The full track is released on December 18th across all major streaming platforms, you can stream this now on Spotify, and follow TDC Tunes and Rocco on Instagram.

Get a Shot of Electro House Euphoria with Too Martian’s Single ‘Changes’ featuring Sara Chay

Netherlands-hailing artist and producer Too Martian’s short but significant career has seen him achieve airplay on major stations and garnering plenty of hype with their entrancing mixes, their latest release ‘Changes’ exhibits the best of their euphoria-rousing talent.

With Too Martian’s bass-riding beats in a high-vibe progressive rollercoaster of a track, you’ll quickly feel your rhythmic pulses become intrinsically combined with the playfully devilish breakdowns and build ups which will always leave you wondering what kind of aural curveball will be thrown at you next through the shimmeringly entrancing production.

The Future Pop vocals perfectly round off the track by complimenting the stylistic tone of the EDM beats which combine all of the best components of Melodic House and Electro House.
